  • "We had a pleasant stay at Claife view lodge, however, there were a few area's which were disappointing."

There were cobwebs on the ceilings in most rooms. The main bathroom was dirty looking with black mold around the edges of the bath. The decking and hot tub are definitely in need of some attention or upgrade. All in all for paying £1500 for a week I would expect the lodge and outdoor areas including the hot tub (and cover) to be pristine. Definitely not value for money.

  • "Excellent stay absolutely loved it."

Boiler was leaking a bit but I think you knew about that as there was a bucket on top of towels on the bottom of the cupboard to catch the water. That didn't spoil the stay in anyway. Would recommend to anyone

Thank you. We are having a persistent issue with the boiler. It has been attended too again recently but is proving challenging !! Property Owner

  • "Really lovely lodge in a beautiful quiet setting."

Perfect for our weekend getaway. The lodge was fully equipped with everything we needed and the hot tub was the icing on the cake!

Thank you and sorry to hear about the boiler, it has been fixed recently but obviously not solved the issue. Our cleaners made us aware and we will get the engineer back Property Owner

Better equipped than my own home. Lovely hot tub. Comfortable beds. Crisp clean linen and towels. Lovely. We’ve already looked at booking the same place again next year. Didn’t want to come home!

Pleasantly surprised by the decor, comfort and how well the lodge was equipped. Loved the hot tub after a hard day walking. Wonderful holiday!

  • "It was very disappointing the you state that you can have a Park facilities pass for £15 per cabin, and then when we arrived they charged us almost £10 per adult and wanted nearly £7 per child."

They had changed their pricing after we had booked and would not accept our booking agreement, very disappointing customer experience. On top of that, it was not worth the price we ended up paying. On a positive note, the cabin was everything we expected, enjoyed by all of the party, the only negative would be that the beds could be more comfortable.

There were lots of little touches such as a supply of kitchen products ie dishwasher tablets and a generous supply of white fluffy towels. We loved our little break and will definitely book again

!! Finally got in at 1545 without a single acknowledgement that we were Even there, no apology or anything. Inside was well equipped and clean.Outside was a different matter, decking had not been cleaned for some considerable time with moss etc in some areas, Brambles Were encroaching the decking area, no attempt Was made to clean any outside furniture. BBQ was dirty & had to clean prior to use. The hot tub service technician was very pleasant and helpful.

  • "The accommodation is amazing!"

! So incredibly comfortable, and everything you would need. We so wanted to move in!! New double mattress is much needed. The one there sags on one side. Cleaners need to go around with a feather duster, just a few cobwebs, but I can't really talk!! And perhaps a few instructions on the fire, dvd player, etc.

  • "Lodge was beautiful couldn’t fault it at all, a little disappointed that we couldn’t use the bbq, there was a note up asking for all holiday makers to clean it after they used it , but unfortunately this hadn’t happened."

Looked like it hadn’t been clean for 3 months which is just lazy as there was cleaning stuff supplied at the lodge to clean it. There was also a build up of old used disposable bbq’s left there in bin bags, but this wasn’t a fault of yourselves, I will only book holidays through Sykes and have recommended yous to family, we’re already browsing the site for another get away

  • "Claife View Lodge - Ambleside 77 We stayed here for a weeks holiday in November 2018."

This was booked through Sykes Cottages as the lodge is privately owned. On arrival the lodge was freezing cold, the heating had not been on for days and it would have been nice and welcoming, to arrive to a warm lodge especially this time of year. The lodge did not appear to be very clean. The basics were fine; clean bedding, clean toilet and shower, and main floor areas ok. We moved the coffee table to make more space for our little baby and noticed the rug was quite stained and the part of the rug under the coffee table had not been hoovered for a while! We attempted to hoover ourselves but the hoover was pretty useless. The bathroom door handle was broken and we reported this 2 days after our arrival, and it was finally repaired the day before we went home. There wasn’t much storage in the kitchen as the cupboards were all full of kitchen equipment (not sure it was all necessary!) so we stored stuff on top of the kitchen cupboards only to discover it was thick of dust and very greasy. We noticed that the extractor fan wasn’t even connected to anything. Skirting boards were grubby especially near kitchen bin, so we cleaned this ourselves. (Who wants to clean while they are on holiday?!) There was lots of dirt and old sweets etc under both sofas. The shower screen leaked everytime you used the shower and the grout/sealant was mouldy in places. We found a hairball on top of bathroom cabinet and hairs/dust behind bathroom door. We found food smears on inside of curtains in living room, and inside of windows were covered in fingerprints. Decking area could do with a jet wash after the summer. We reported these issues to Sykes Cottages when informing them of the broken door handle. The cleaning team did visit the following day and cleaned the floors, removed hairs from behind door and left fresh towels but did not action the other issues. However, it did make us feel a little more comfortable about staying there the rest of our holiday. We had an ok holiday, the site is nice, clubhouse is canny, and the site is in a great location. However, this lodge needs a deep clean and a bit of TLC asap! Hopefully no one else will feel the way we felt while staying there, or have to do their own cleaning whilst on holiday, and that the owners of this lodge have dealt with all the issues we informed them of! Lastly, the third bedroom is quite small, with no cupboard space and is definetly a bedroom for children. I don’t think the lodge is really suitable for 6 adults.

  • "We arrived at white cross bay after the designated check in time, but still had to wait over an hour to access our accomadation as cleaners were still busy."

This was not acceptable as we had a tired toddler in our party. When we did get in to our lodge we found it wasn’t cleaned to a very good standard, cobwebs in the bedrooms, and under sofas had not been vacuumed, as were still dirty. Also there was six of us in our party, so we expected enough towels for us all, however this was not the case as there were no towels left in master bedroom, this was very disappointing, we asked at reception for extra towels but were told that they did not provide any linen for our lodge, so we had to go out and buy towels, this was very inconvenient. Beds in one of the twin rooms were very uncomfortable and the sheet provided on one bed was awful and not a proper sheet. We have booked with Sykes before and were pleased with our accomatation, but were disappointed this time so will think twice before booking again, especially for the price we paid.

Well maintained easy to use. We made sure that we did adhere to all the hygiene notices and it was also serviced whilst we were there. The kitchen was well equipped. Beds comfortable. The location was great and it was ideal for our two grandchildren. All in all a lovely place to be. I know you had no control over this, but our weather was FANTASTIC all week. Would recommend Whitecross Bay Resort and Claife View Lodge to anyone.
