The property

Troutbeck Bridge 0.4 miles.

Dovedale Lodge is a wonderful, single-storey retreat set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, near the small village of Troutbeck Bridge.

Boasting on-site facilities, a toasty electric fire, serene lake views of Windermere, and a bubbling hot tub, this well-equipped lodge welcomes family and friends, idyllic for a relaxing countryside getaway.

Inside, you will find a charming open-plan living space, where the designated chef can get to work in the kitchen, meal times can be enjoyed together around the dining table, and you can look forward to sinking into the sitting area afterward.

Here, you cuddle up with your loved ones and spend your nights watching movies on the Smart TV as the electric fire provides the perfect backdrop for quiet nights in.

After a day by the lake, head through the lodge to discover two pleasing bedrooms: a king-size with a convenient en-suite walk-in shower, and a family room with a single and bunk bed, so sleepy heads can catch their night's rest.

In the morning, freshen up in the family bathroom, where you can indulge in a bath or rinse off in the overhead shower.

On warm summer evenings, step outside and make the most of your privet decking.

Dine alfresco-style on the furniture provided, or savour a dip in the hot tub, all while the beautiful lake of Windermere glistens in the distance.

White Cross Bay is in one of the most lovely settings on the shores of Lake Windermere, with jetties and a marina and views of the magnificent fells all around.

On the Park itself, there is a bar and restaurant with an outdoor seating area, a picnic area, and a children’s play zone.

A short distance away up the main A591 is Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, with a great way to spend a day with gardens, house, café, restaurant, walks, boats, adventure playground and Tree Top Trek: there’s lots to do.

You’re also just two miles from bustling Windermere village with shops, cafes and pubs, and three miles from Bowness boat landings, where the elegant cruisers come in and you can hop on a boat trip and enjoy this cosmopolitan village with award-winning restaurants and pubs and quirky shops, a cinema and the ever-popular World of Beatrix Potter attraction.

Three miles in the other direction, head to Ambleside, another bustling town with shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, and of course, fabulous walks in every direction.

Two miles north on the A592 is the pretty village of Troutbeck, home to two traditional pubs with log fires, great food and ales: The Queens Head and the Mortal Man.

You’ll also discover beautiful Holehird Gardens and the National Trust’s fascinating Townend House.

Further on, you climb up to the magnificent Kirkstone Pass, then drop down to Brotherswater & Ullswater.

White Cross Bay

White Cross Bay holiday park nestles on the shores of Lake Windermere, midway between Windermere and Ambleside, in the Lake District National Park. Consisting of many lodges, it offers a restaurant, pub, shop, entertainment room, amusement arcade, indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, children's staffed activity centre, marina and outdoor play areas. Lake Windermere, the largest and most popular in the area, boasts a wide range of lakeside activities from walking and cycling to rowing, horse riding, taking a trip on the steam railway, plus lake cruises from Bowness to the pretty village of Ambleside and down to Lakeside, which has a celebrated aquarium. Children will also enjoy The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere, where technology brings her characters to life, and Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, with its Treetop Trek aerial adventure is a short walk away from the site. TROUTBECK BRIDGE

Windermere 2 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small village of Troutbeck Bridge lies between the famous towns of Windermere and Ambleside, close to the renowned Kirkstone Pass, within the Lake District National Park. Made up of a scattering of Lakeland cottages, this quiet village offers a thriving and very popular local pub, serving real ales and fine food. Why not leave the car at home, with great connections, you can catch the bus here which regularly runs from the train station all the way up to Keswick via Ambleside, Rydal and Grasmere. Explore Brockhole Visitor Centre with tree-top adventures and childrens play park which is close by - boats to Ambleside and Bowness call in here along with some Lake Cruises in season. There are also some charming walks and bridleways to explore directly from here up into the beautiful Troutbeck Valley and across to Wansfell, as well as the gardens at Holehird, which are run entirely by volunteers and are an enchanting and inspiring place to explore. The bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are close by, providing a range of amenities including shops, pubs and cafes. Lake Windermere boasts a range of lakeside activities, including trips to the famous Aquarium and the renowned Grizedale Forest Park, whilst children will enjoy the World of Beatrix Potter in nearby Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. With destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains all within easy reach, Troutbeck Bridge is an ideal location for exploring all that the region has to offer.

Dovedale Lodge is accessed by 8 steps. The lodge is then all on the same ground floor level. Narrow spiral staircase to the roof deck.

White Cross Bay has its own onsite facilities. You will need to purchase a complex pass from reception which includes the use of the pool, entertainment and access to bar and restaurant. The prices are subject to change by park management.

Park Rules and Operations – White Cross Bay

All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.

Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are not be left alone in the lodges at any point during your stay.

You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.

Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.


Hot Tubs

For the comfort of other holidays guests we request that noise is kept to a minimum. Usage of the hot tub is between 10am and 10pm only. If you are found to breach these timings then you may be asked to vacate the park with no call for a refund.

All hot tubs are maintained to strict industry standards and HSE guidelines by separate qualified independent contractors on behalf of the property owners. This includes changing the water between guest stays and checking the water condition on a regular basis.

Whilst every effort is made to have a hot tub ready for immediate use by the arrival time stated, this may not always be possible. In such cases the hot tub will usually be ready to use later that day unless otherwise advised. In such cases no compensation or refund is payable unless the hot tub is faulty.

Information about using a hot tub safely is provided at all lodges with a hot tub and on a prominent notice near the tub. All hot tub users should wear an appropriate bathing suit. Usage of a hot tub is at a guests own risk and Lake District Lodge Holidays accepts no liability for anything which may happen to a guest as a direct result of using a hot tub.
