The lodge was not clean and there was damage to the fridge trays and shelves it looked clean on surface but it needed to be cleaned before we could use it I phoned the office on arrival but was on hold for 25 minutes until the office was closed I then phoned back in the morning to be put on hold for 47 minutes in the morning a phoned on my wife phone and told your staff that I was still on hold on my phone and I was put on hold the only time your office will answer your call is when you ring the phone number to make a booking and not any issues it took a week to receive any information from the office we had left the lodge before I was contacted

"Unfortunately in this case the pictures did the venue a solid because they looked very good until you actually arrived."

Wallpaper hanging off the walls in the living room and first bedroom. The smell throughout the lodge on arrival was absolutely foul and basically lasted the entire week as the drains were clearly blocked or in need of cleaning. No matter how much spray we used it wouldn’t clear. The vacuum cleaner wouldn’t work as we tried to use it after the second day but weren’t able to do so. The bedding was questionable at best and we all received bites throughout the week, on arrival my wife and I had to go around wiping down door handles and work tops because the level of cleaning that we arrived to was in all honesty was a joke. The lodge itself was quite nice, a bit dated yeah but nice enough. Issues were when you opened up the cupboards to see half the glasses and cups were dirty and the fridge/freezer was damaged inside and smelled very funky. We decided not to cook in the lodge and therefore didn’t chance using the pans or oven. The beds were comfy enough, the hot tub was nice enough but again the lid was broken and needed two people to take it off and put it on which was an inconvenience because you felt like you could cause more damage to it each time you moved it!. It also stated private garden, I opted for this because we were taken the dogs with us but it only meant private decking area as opposed to a small Section of grass where I thought I could let my dogs off, a better description would be advised I think. The lodge location was right next to the bin storage area too which wasn’t ideal as it was overflowing when we arrived Friday night and didn’t get collected until Monday afternoon and this was the view from the hot tub!. The bin inside the lodge was filthy as well with things stuck to the inside of it, obviously we used bin bags throughout our stay and I draw the line at cleaning someone else’s bin like that. I’ve genuinely never left a negative comment on any venue we’ve ever stayed in previously but this one was very frustrating for us as we’d all looked forward to this holiday for a long time after having our holiday in May to Turkey cancelled on us this then became our main priority.

"Unfortunately, our stay at the lodge was quite disappointing."

When we arrived on the first day, there was an awful smell coming from the bathroom. We were surprised that this hadn’t been noticed or dealt with by the cleaner before our arrival. We had to ask someone to come and sort it out, and it took three different people coming out on the same day before it was resolved. The lodge definitely needs some updating. The rugs had lots of bits and debris on them and clearly hadn’t been vacuumed properly. The vacuum provided looked very old and didn’t seem to work particularly well. The lodge also didn’t feel as clean as we would have expected. Some of the cutlery wasn’t properly cleaned, and the table mats had quite a lot of dirt and debris on them. A bigger fridge would also be a great improvement, especially for longer stays. The hot tub cover definitely needs replacing. It was in very poor condition and looked completely worn out. Overall, the lodge has potential, but it would really benefit from better cleaning, some maintenance, and updating of a few things. Unfortunately, these issues did take away from our enjoyment of the stay.

"Upon the arrival the lodge smelled awfully from drains."

This was a week long problem. The front door didn’t lock properly, ended up few nights unable to lock the lodge. Hot hub got murky after few days use, despite following all instructions. After multiple calls to the maintenance to get matters sorted our holiday was truly spoiled. I have been returning annually to this side over last 10 years but this was one of the worst stays we had. So sadly I would not be recommending the lodge.

"This was a lovely lodge with lots of good amenities."

However the heated towel rail didn’t work in the bathroom. The decor apparently had been re-vamped in certain areas but I did feel for the money we paid it still looked tired. A lick of paint especially ceilings would have improved the rooms.

"Looks nicer in picture."

Workmanship is shoddy especially in main bed room. Ceiling is untidy, chip of paint above window needs attention, wallpaper at socket next to window all wrinkled. Third bedroom did not bother us as only used for storage. Also difficulty with some of the sockets, actually getting the plug in. Finally I would recommend a slip mat for shower Overall disappointed

"We did have a lovely stay, the lodge is in a great location, Whitecross Bay is a lovely park."

However, the lodge does appear much nicer on the photographs than in person. It is clear the lodge has been recently renovated although not to the best standard, workmanship is shoddy in areas. The biggest let down is the back bedroom which has not been refurbished at all, very old fashioned and out of date, could do with complete refurbishment and the removal of the bunk bed if it can't be used.

Hi Mrs miller The reason unfortunately for the third bedroom not being refurbished is we have bookings for 7 people until June . After this time it will be refurbished also the error was on our cleaners not making the bed before your stay which I can only apologise for and hopefully this will not happen again. I hope this did not ruin your stay too much and hopefully would consider further stays at Windermere. Property Owner

"Jacko's lodge is an ideal gem."

Everything you could wish for and more. Perfectly situated away from hustle and bustle, but within a 5 min stroll to anywhere on site.

Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 8.7 miles.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

Jackos Lodge is accessed by 5 wooden steps to the decking. The lodge is then all on the same ground floor level.

There is insufficient space to fit a travel cot in any of the bedrooms and would have to be placed in the living room area. Please bring your own travel cot and highchair as they are not provided.

The top bunk in the 3rd bedroom is no longer available from February 2026.

White Cross Bay has its own onsite facilities. You will need to purchase a complex pass from reception which includes the use of the pool, entertainment and access to bar and restaurant. The prices are subject to change by park management.

Complimentary WiFi is provided by the park and subject to fair usage guidelines, Quality and reliability of connection will vary based on the number of people using it, prevailing weather conditions and therefore may be limited or slower than you are used to, WiFi is for personal use only and is not intended for high data usage, gaming and/or use for business purposes, This is only suitable for page browsing and sending emails, Bookings cannot be accepted if they are solely reliant on the provision of uninterrupted and unlimited Wi-Fi, We are not held responsible or liable for the WiFi on the park. Park Rules and Operations – White Cross Bay

All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.

Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are not be left alone in the lodges at any point during your stay.

You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.

Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.

Hot Tubs

For the comfort of other holidays guests we request that noise is kept to a minimum. Usage of the hot tub is between 10am and 10pm only. If you are found to breach these timings then you may be asked to vacate the park with no call for a refund.

All hot tubs are maintained to strict industry standards and HSE guidelines by separate qualified independent contractors on behalf of the property owners. This includes changing the water between guest stays and checking the water condition on a regular basis.

Whilst every effort is made to have a hot tub ready for immediate use by the arrival time stated, this may not always be possible. In such cases the hot tub will usually be ready to use later that day unless otherwise advised. In such cases no compensation or refund is payable unless the hot tub is faulty.

Information about using a hot tub safely is provided at all lodges with a hot tub and on a prominent notice near the tub. All hot tub users should wear an appropriate bathing suit. Usage of a hot tub is at a guests own risk and Lake District Lodge Holidays accepts no liability for anything which may happen to a guest as a direct result of using a hot tub.
