  • "A very nice cottage, the owners thought of everything, anything you might need was there."

Even candles incase of a power cut. Only thing would suggest which isn't a criticism is a brighter light around back.as we had dogs and was hard to see when letting them out to do there business.

  • "This was our second stay in this wonderful cottage, and we kept saying "when we get back home" when we were out and about exploring the Dales and beyond."

And that's because this place really does feel like a home, not just a "holiday let". It was so cosy and comfortable. Alison & Andrew (the owners) are just down the road should you need anything and they were so warm and welcoming when we visited their farm to see the lambs. We will be booking again!

  • "This is a lovely cottage."

However, great care should be taken exiting the parking space as it is almost a blind bend junction and cars coming from the right do not slow down at all! It would be good to see an egg whisk in the kitchen. Also under cupboard lights as one finds oneself working in one’s own light. Alison is lovely and very thoughtful. The welcome basket is a great surprise! Would love to return.

. This little cottage was spotless, cosy and so welcoming with a lovely welcome pack for us to enjoy. As two couples with two small dogs there was everything that we needed. A couple of quirky features and that is what made it so enchanting. There is a dog friendly pub/ restaurant on the doorstep too. And not far away from all the beautiful places of the Yorkshire Dales. Thank you for sharing this with us and we certainly would love to return.

The welcome basket was a surprise and generous. The cottage is light, bright and tastefully designed. We loved the doggie welcome too, with bed, bowls and treats supplied. Instructions for the cottage were clear and concise. We enjoyed relaxing with the magazines and the simple but fiendishly difficult jigsaw. Would highly recommend and love to stay again.

  • "Small but very lovely cottage, very cosy, lots of real character and not really short of anything."

The rear garden is small and the road outside moderately busy at times with fast moving traffic so real caution needed with dogs or small children (the cottage sits at a junction). The pub "next door" is very lovely. We had a fantastic stay and will, highly likely, want to return

The owners has thought of everything including dog bowls and towels. A thoughtful welcome hamper was waiting for us on arrival with tea, coffee, cheese, butter and biscuits. Lots of beautiful places to visit in the Yorkshire Dales. We particularly enjoyed the walk up Malham Cove. The weather was stormy and wild but this did not spoil our stay.

It was warm throughout, clean and very comfortable. There was a supply of logs for the fire for the whole week which was a great surprise as often cottages leave a supply for only the first night. Another bonus is the pub two doors away has a new chef and the food was the best we've ever eaten! Hope we come back to the area soon so we can stay here again.

The welcome pack left for us was a treat, and much appreciated. I would certainly recommend it. One minor thing is the location of the key safe. Being about two feet off of the ground, and arriving in the dark meant that I had to kneel on the wet surface while trying to conduct braille.

Moved the settee so it's back was to the window and brought the armchairs closer. Worked better for us and it meant there was room to put a chair on each side of the dining table. The cottage was clean and we were made to feel welcome. Would definitely stay there again.

A total delight and a lot for your money too! Four adults and two dogs, not a problem. Comfortable, well equipped and cosy, despite a power cut, owner Alison did all in her 'power' to do what she could for us. We will return! The welcome pack was the best ever!

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Smithy Cottage."

It was warm and cosy and very clean. We found the seating in the lounge a little cramped for 4 adults, equally the dining table was barely large enough for 4 . However, on a positive note, the lovely posies of fresh flowers around the house were a nice touch and the thoughtful basket of goodies were really appreciated. Our 2 dogs were welcomed with biscuit treats and doggy bowls and towels.

  • "Nicely renovated cottage, obviously well cared for by owners."

It would probably have been ideal for 2 adults but as 2 couples we found the lounge seating inadequate and lack of toilet in en suite disappointing. The fire was lovely and it was fairly well equipped, although, we had to go and buy some cleaning products to clean sinks and toilets during our stay. We thought it was very reasonably priced and would probably have felt more positive if the weather had been better and the pub open!

  • "The cottage was spotless and provided everything practical."

We booked the cottage because the specification was 2 bathrooms but in reality the layout upstairs for the two bathrooms meant that one of the bedrooms failed to have access the either bathroom. People stayinging in one of the bedrooms caused a problem especially people of a certain age.

With such good weather we made good use of the barbecue eating in the garden most evenings.
