Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed the location of the property. We are sorry to hear that you found the mattresses uncomfortable. We do find that this is down to personal preference. We were pleased to be able to resolve the issue with the battery for the fob. • "Following arrival, DvD Player & Ipod Dock were missing."

Also, I noticed there was no mat for using inside the bath (safety). I reported these matters to Sykes, via the app, as the local office had closed by this time. It took Sykes 3 days to respond, but the issues were solved quickly, once the local office took over. I was quickly informed that the owner had removed the Dock & DvD player, & installed a smart Tv instead. That's fine, but please update the website details. The local office kindly dropped a new bath mat off at the apartment within 3 hrs of them being informed. I also came across at least 2 dirty glasses that needed washing. What I found that was missing, & would have been a nice touch... was a clock on the wall. I either had to keep my watch on, or keep it handy. Loved the secure wi-fi, & the comfortable mattress on the large bed. I still had uncomfortable nights, because I suffer from painful Spondylosis, so getting a comfortable pillow combination, was always going to be difficult. I found that the deadlock on the door, to be a tight fit, when locking/unlocking. Having to pull the door towards you, upon exiting, in order to be able to lock the door securely. I have rented an apartment lower down, for many years, with the same set-up... that was never tight to open & close. All in all, I was happy with my stay. The other apartment was unavailable to rent, for some reason, but even it returned, I would still choose this one. So I hope to return again, if my ageing body will allow. Hope the bath mat is still there.

It is in a great spot, easy for the bus station and close enough to shops and restaurants. We always leave the car and travel by bus everywhere, the car park at the rear of the property is a bonus. We will use this property until we can't manage the stairs anymore.

  • "The air vent in the bathroom was disgusting, the cooker hood was sticky and dusty and the carpet needed hoovering."

Comfortable and good location with parking. We were expected to accommodate the painters to paint the front door and if we weren’t in they would use their master key. This in my mind is not acceptable. The notice for this was given in an email which being on holiday I don’t check every day, so I could have come back in later in the day to find a stranger at the door and the door open. Uncharacteristically I checked my emails on Monday, therefore with the possibility of painters arriving had to forfeit lazy mornings as didn’t want to be in nightwear when they turned up. Also had to accommodate the roofers. If maintenance is due on the property either inform me beforehand so I can choose whether to rent or don’t let the property that week. Thoroughly unacceptable.

Thank you for taking your time to provide feedback on your stay. We are sorry that you did not find the cleaning to fall short, had we known about this we would have organised an urgent re-clean. In addition, we apologise that you were disrupted by the necessary works. This property is part of a building of both residential and holiday lets so we do not have control over how or when the building management carry out works. Therefore, we can only inform guests once we are notified. In this case the roof was leaking, affecting other properties and this required works on it to prevent further damages. I hope this helps to explain the situation. We are glad that you enjoy the property and your stay. Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Good location if u want to be near bus station and in Windermere."

Bonus for providing parking. Apartment is very dated but has everything you need if wanting to be self catering. Beds were comfortable but the twin beds are not a standard size and are quite narrow, this is because of room size. Only big issues was the keys. Firstly you have to pick them up from Cumbria stays shop which is a big pain as finding a parking space is difficult! ( this is not stated until booking is complete & you can not access parking space until you get the keys) Then go find apartment to find the Yale lock is dodgy. Could not get into apartment after a lot of time wasted and fiddling with locks and door. Had to walk back to shop to get help. This is a known problem so why not just get it fixed and put a new lock on. If arriving late we would have been stranded. Why not just use key safe at apartment?

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. A key safe is not possible as this is a residential property and as you need the key fob to enter the gates it would require putting this outside the gates creating a security risk for other residents. Our colleague who attended with you, confirmed that there was no issue with the lock and it does not need replacing. It is a common lock, where it requires the user to turn the key in the opposite direction to unlock. Information is provided at the office for guests who arrive after closing, on how to retrieve property keys and there is an out of hours service. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and all the area has to provide. Lakes Cottage Holidays Owner Relations Team Property Owner

The property was ideally located and had everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely stay there again. A couple of points to note. We would have liked to have had bath sheets rather than the bath towels provided. They were to small. Also the TV remote was generic and did not match the make of TV. We found that we had to reset the remote/TV every day.

  • "The flat was exactly as pictured except there was no indication it was up three flights of stairs with no elevator."

This proved onerous with heavy luggage. Knowing this ahead of time would have been helpful. The flat was spacious and well equipped but with 2 notable lacks: there was no coffee maker of any kind (not even the simplest French press) and there was no hair dryer, two basic items in most rentals. Also, the refrigerator was a mini, not full-sized, which was fine for us but unexpected in a kitchen of this size. Picking up and leaving the key was easy and the email messages were clear and comprehensive. I did try calling Sykes once after hours with a question about the key return but I just got an endless phone tree and was never able to leave a message. The flat was in an excellent location, right in town but very quiet. Overall, we were very satisfied with it.

The position was excellent for the walks we wanted to do in Ambleside, Grasmere and Bowness. Although the apartment is in the centre of Windermere it is quiet and having a dedicated parking space was a bonus. We ate out every night in Windermere and there is plenty to choose from and only a couple of minutes walk from the apartment. We even found a delightful Italian cafe/restaurant that served an excellent choice of breakfast meals from 8.00 am. Our only negatives were the comfort of the corner suite and the two single beds hadn't been zipped to make a double bed (I had telephoned a week before our booking and requested this as it is given as an option in the advertising and been assured it would be done but sadly it wasn't). The apartment definitely contributed to us having a great break.

  • "The apartment was excellent, although potential holidaymakers should be made aware that it is on the 4th floor with quite a few stairs to climb."

Although there was a dryer situated on the ground floor the door to the room in which it was situated was permanently locked and we had no means to access it, Not ideal when there is washing to dry - which is not unusual when holidaying in the Lake District!! The apartment was well equipped but an ironing board and iron would have been good. We carefully followed the directions provided but could find no trace of Cumberland Court on the left (as stated in the directions) it was actually situated on the right!! (yes we did enter the road from the direction stated). Apart from these minor problems this was one of the best properties we have rented for a holiday. Extremely well situated and very peaceful considering how close to all the amenities it is.
