  • "Great location, games room, comfy bed."

I sent a message on the app as no hairdryer just an empty box but had no reply. I had to go knocking on doors with wet hair! The wall shelf right hand side of main bedroom is loose along with the tap in the main bathroom . The whole place needs a deep clean , dirty fridge, windows, cupboards and skirting boards. The bathrooms and surfaces were clean. The walls painted matt white with lots of scuffs. Not up to our usual standard. We only stayed the weekend and was out all day so it didn’t spoil my birthday weekend too much as we ate out. Sky Tv great but don’t sit on the sofa not comfy . Great for younger visitors as a games room is available .

  • "Absolutely beautiful home in a 10/10 location Fantastic facilities the games/cinema room is perfect for all ages however we could not get any signal from the WiFi to put Netflix or YouTube on and sky didn’t seem to work down there."

The darts and Pac-Man kept us entertained though. Beautiful kitchen greeted with a bottle of Prosecco, tea bags, coffee and some yummy birders biscuits which is a nice touch, great oven however could do with a new frying pan. Overall cleanliness was well but some attention to details were missed like crumbs under the toaster, drainer not cleaned, dirty oven mit. We contacted maintenance during our stay as the main bathroom toilet just kept leeking, the overflow wasn’t quite right which kept us up. Maintenance advised that they couldn’t fix it but we could still use it. Our concern was the constant overflow noise not that we couldn’t use it. No parking permit provided as The property doesn’t have one as mentioned in the in property information sheet, if you want additional parking to the 1 space provided there is limited free parking on broad street. This needs to be updated! Overall we did have a lovely stay and despite the niggles it didn’t dampen our stay (only the weather) but due to all guests finding the mattresses uncomfortable unfortunately we wouldn’t stay again.

  • "We enjoyed the property."

Very central to Windermere and 5 min walk to shops and cafes. We would have preferred if the property had curtains in the bedrooms. We would have also preferred if the property had a stair gate at bottom and top of stairs. We also felt the internet was not very stable. Other than that we thought it was a nice quaint cottage.

  • "The house is lovely Great kitchen (full range of kitchen equipment) and comfortable living room."

There is also a tv/ games room in the cellar. Beds and bedrooms comfortable and heating has great temperature control. You can park outside but would need a smaller car. We managed with a Fabia estate but with a bigger estate or suv you may struggle it is possible to turn round in the shared driveway. The house has a good selection of shops within a couple of mins walk with a coop on the corner for any supplies needed. Bowness is just down the hill about 25mins walk or mins in the car. It’s a really nice place to base yourself to explore the lakes. However, There were a couple of issues with the bathrooms. The shower in the en suite needs a bit of attention, as we could not get it to work correctly throughout our stay. In particular it had very low water pressure. The plug mechanism in the family bathroom is broken, and the bath sprung a leak through the ceiling when I gave my son a bath, which meant we couldn’t use the bathroom for 24 hours. The out of hours team were great, and came round to look at the issue and advised they would investigate and sort this issue when we left. However, contacting Sykes and dealing with this was not how we wanted to spend a morning of our short break. Hopefully this will be sorted for the next time someone stays at the house. Despite this, we would still recommend this as a great place to stay.

  • "In immaculate condition and having a quiet but very central position, we were very happy with our cottage."

The icing on the cake was the superbly-equipped kitchen, which meant that catering for Xmas dinner in an unfamiliar location was no hardship. The local railway station, pubs, cafes and a classy Booths supermarket are all within a few minutes walk. The craft beer delights of Hawkshead brewery and bar are a few miles drive away in Staveley village. Stairs may be a little steep for some and strange beds will always be..... well... 'strange beds' in our view. House central heating was very efficient but it was a bit too cold to have more than a passing glance down the stairs to the cellar games room. Overall, the place is a credit to its owners, who have clearly thrown some serious cash at this cottage.

  • "We had awesome time at the Burrow."

Walking distance to Windermere and plenary of walks close by. The cottage is well equipped and was spotless when we arrived and the open fire was absolutely fantastic feature we used daily. All the beds are comfy and bed lines lovely and crisp. We will be coming back soon.

  • "Great property but floors very dusty in kitchen, hall and lounge."

King bed in main bedroom creaked VERY noisily any time you moved but very comfortable to sleep on. Cinema room great. Gutters need fixing front and back so noisy dripping when it rained and showed as slight damp patch on bottom of wall under tv in cinema room when rain was very heavy. We parked right outside the property (tight entrance) but there was no permit left in the property despite the information inside saying there was and to remember to leave it when you leave. Close to lots of shops, cafes and restaurants.

Just a suggestion there wasn't a hairdryer and no where to hang dresses but really wouldn't let that put me off. We will definitely book again.

Great property and very conveniently placed to local amenities in Windermere. Great week in the lakes with dry weather, making use of the £2 bus fares to Grasmere/Ambleside/Keswick. We've come away inspired by the property and its decor and a great kitchen. Great comfortable bed mattress too. I now need larger TV's at home! - good to have sky and fast wifi. Definitely hope to return.

  • "Excellent, clean, warm and cosy, well equipped cottage - set back in a secluded courtyard 2 minutes walk from the centre of Windermere."

Entrance to the courtyard is a little tight through a narrow driveway but there is plenty of on street parking nearby if you prefer. We took a large family car and it was fine - parking right outside the door. Highly recommended.

  • "Lovely cottage ideally situated in Windermere village 2 minutes walk to all amenities."

Bowness on Windermere is about a 10/15 minute walk away. The cottage was very well equipped and an unexpected welcome pack had been left of tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of Prosecco. We found the parking space a little restricted as there are 3/4 cottages in a small courtyard but it is manageable with care especially when all the cottages are occupied. We would definately recommend this cottage and would stay there again.

  • "Really lovely cottage with a games/TV room in the basement which was great to use in the evenings."

The main bedroom was however not King Size and the water pressure from the en-suite shower was rather low. All in all this was a lovely place to stay in the heart of Windermere.

  • "The location is excellent and within a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Windermere."

Parking was useful but only suitable for a very small car. The property is lovely but we felt there was too much focus on style than comfort. The bathrooms are very small and it was difficult to have a wash in the onsuite as the sink is too small for the waterfall tap fitted. The living room furniture was nice, but not comfortable. When we arrived there was a strong smell coming from the kitchen sink drain which was very unpleasant. We had to keep pouring bleach down to try and clear it. The location is perfect for visiting Windermere.

  • "Loved the property and its fantastic location being close to most villages and towns."

The bus stop and shops being a stones throw away was a delight. The property had everything we needed and was very cosy. The bonus was having two bathrooms too especially with four of us staying and we enjoyed using the fire. Our favourite place to sit was the kitchen at the breakfast bar and watch tv, whilst my parents enjoyed sitting in the living room. It's a shame the basement was out of use, but would certainly have used it as it looked great. As an experienced driver, the access path to drive down was OK but it is quite narrow and some may even struggle but we liked that there was an additional parking permit provided to park on the street also. Whilst we kept the property clean during out stay, we noticed it could have done with a thorough clean. There was quite a bit of dirt and dust gathered downstairs, in particular the living room. We struggled to locate the general waste wheelie bin during our stay, it would be good if this was kept closer to the property for future use. We also love to recycle where we can, if there is an option to recycle we would have preferred this too. Due to covid we tend to strip the beds ourselves and place all the dirty towels etc downstairs by the washing machine, it would be good if the instructions had something outlining what to do with bed linen and towels when departing. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful cottage, it made our first visit to the Lakes perfect. We would love to stay again.

  • "Excellent well appointed clean property newly refurbished I'd guess, location also excellent so many shops/pubs/restaurants within a short walk away."

Nice to have another car parking permit as well as a apace at the property. As a constructive comment; We could not see any oven gloves although we never used the oven, no heating instructions and it was off - we worked this out as first few days were q cold at night/mornings and the towel radiator needs heat. Whoever put the dartboard in, nice touch but unlit and far too low to use.

  • "Lovely cottage, beautifully furnished, with lots of attention to detail."

Missing a couple of things, that would totally complete the cottage offering - hairdryer and oven gloves. The only downside was the parking. With all of the cottages let at the same time it was very difficult to get in and out as space is extremely tight.
