  • "Just Beautiful, the cottage was immaculate."

    It was the perfect setting for a family getaway to celebrate a special occasion. The hosts were friendly and informative, and had thought of everything. The beds are so comfy and the outdoor furniture was gorgeous for relaxing in the sun. We wish we could have stayed longer. Dalston is a pretty little village, with a cafe, butchers and small supermarket. We ate at the Bridge End Inn and the food was delicious with huge portions. We would highly recommend a stay at Heathers cottage.

  • "I couldn’t rate this highly enough."

    We stayed to celebrate a 60th birthday and had an amazing time. The cottage has absolutely everything you could possibly need, was super clean and had lots of nice finishing touches - milk in the fridge, a bottle of prosecco, cookies, fresh flowers and miniature toiletries. We had 5 adults and 2 young kids and there was plenty of space for us all, enough cutlery, crockery and glasses for us all and then some. Plastic cups and plates for the kids which we appreciated!! There was also tea, coffee & sugar, washing up liquid, washing tablets & fabric softener, hand wash in all bathrooms and plenty of pots, pans and trays for cooking. I can’t think for anything that was missing. The local area is lovely, the town centre was lovely for a wander, the Bridge End Inn served good food and Walby Farm Park was a hit with the kids. The owners were so helpful & friendly, we would definitely recommend a visit here.

    Wonderful host. Everything you could possibly need is there. Stayed there 3 nights as a base for Dalston Hall where daughter was getting married, could happily have stayed there forever !

  • "We had a lovely week at Heather's Cottage."

    Alison went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The house sleeps eight, but there was plenty of space for day visitors. Everything was of the highest standard. Dalston has some lovely walks, and it is within easy reach if Carlisle, Caldbeck and the Lake District. I would highly recommend this delightful house.

  • "Absolutely beautiful cottage and fantastic host!"

    This cottage was Modern, cosy and plenty room, fully equipped! Everything you need! Even bubble bath for the gorgeous roll top bath! Each room was beautiful with towels and supplies, kitchen full equipped! Smart tv with all the apps! Beautiful view and perfect for little ones to play. We attended with 4 small children. Also BEDS! We all commented on how comfortable they were! Little touches made this the best stay! Thanks again. Would definitely return!

  • "Everything about the property was great!"

    Lots and lots of space and finished to a very high spec. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and was ideal for cooking and chatting. Big fridge and freezer which matters when you are self catering. The outside space is lovely too, and would be wonderful to sit out in warmer months. The owners were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. We regularly try to get away as a family group and this is one of the best properties that we have stayed in.

  • "We stopped here as two families and had such an amazing time."

    The accommodation is perfect, with so many well thought of features. The location was great too and we enjoyed a walk into the village. The prosecco and cookies also went down a treat thank you! Our only slightly negative was that it was quite warm despite us turning the heating down. But this didn't really alter our experience at all. Would definitely recommend and rebook, thanks!

  • "This cottage was amazing."

    Very clean and modern. In an ideal place . Took family for my husband's birthday and our grandson loved it. He had horses in the field a donkey and a couple of sheep which he loved to see every day. Pub just a walk over the bridge with good food. Owners just on the end of the phone if you needed anything . Lovely gesture with fruit, bubbly and biscuits awaiting us. Would highly recommend this property.

  • "Wow , what an amazing property!"

    We have stayed in lots of self catering accommodation across the country & Heather Cottage is one of the best! The house is absolutely stunning, spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped & finished to a very high standard. The owners have thought of every detail & the welcome pack & all the personal touches were lovely & much appreciated. We were lucky with the weather when we stayed & were able to fully open all the sliding doors while we were enjoying sitting outside. The completely enclosed garden was ideal for our grandchildren to safely play in. We look forward to coming back to Heather’s cottage when we are next in the area. We would recommend this house to everyone!

  • "We had a lovely stay at Heather Cottage."

    It was warm, cozy, and easy to find, with great amenities nearby. Our only minor comment would be regarding the flies. We understand there isn't much the property owner can do to mitigate the issue, but having a fly swatter in the cottage would help. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

    The hosts has not accommodated a house for renting, they have accommodated a house as for their own. All the small details added to the functionality of the house totally differentiate it on the market.   • "We have been there from 19 July to 22nd, we had lovely time with my family, if any body like country side visit it is nice and quiet beautiful garden, and all near from there only one thing we disappoint because as advertised car charge available, when we there car charging point wasn’t working because we had 2 EV."

    We have to go out side of cottage, make sure has to be working for other people, rest of very good.

Carlisle 4.6 miles; Keswick 16 miles, Penrith 17.9 miles.

The village of Dalston sits within the Carlisle district of Cumbria, historically part of Cumberland. In the village square lies the red sandstone church of St Michael's, dating back to the 13th century, whilst Dalston Hall is a magnificent Grade II listed building full of character and landscape gardens, which is often used as a wedding venue. About two miles south of Dalston is Rose Castle, the palace of the Bishops of Carlisle, which is not open to the public but may be viewed from the road. Carlisle can be reached in four and half miles, a 2000-year-old city with two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one World Heritage Site, plus lots of pedestrianised shopping areas, award-winning malls, colourful farmer’s markets as well as a traditional Victorian indoor market.
