  • "How Hill Farm Cottage is a beautiful place in a stunning location."

    The cottage itself was warm, inviting and a very comfortable place to stay with everything that we needed. Julie and Arthur were fabulous hosts, very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. If you want peace and relaxation surrounded by natural beauty this is definitely the place for you. From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we are already planning our next one.

  • "This cottage is absolutely lovely."

    The cottage itself had everything we could have wanted. As there was only my partner Carol and myself, we only used the downstairs of the cottage which was perfect for us. If you are looking for a relaxing peaceful break, How Hill Farm is just the place. The owner Arthur was such a nice man and couldn't have made us feel more welcome, even bringing us fresh eggs from his hens. I would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone wanting a relaxing stay near the Lakes

    Such lovely Accommodation, we absolutely loved our stay at howhill farm, beautifully furnished, really comfy beds, Julie &Arthur were great hosts, so friendly & helpful, we loved meeting the dogs everyday & our Milo loved playing with them, we had beautiful weather, loved sitting out in the garden, loved seeing all the farm animals too, we will definitely book again,

  • "We had a fantastic stay at How Hill Farm."

    The cottage had everything we needed, was fitted out to an high standard, and the owners were lovely. They were even thoughtful enough to include a dog blanket for our sheltie. The location of the cottage was perfect for us - quiet and a little remote, but within easy reach of Keswick and Penrith. We look forward to staying again.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at How Hill; when we have stayed in similar places in the past, there has always been a guide book, recommending places to visit and where to eat out etc etc."

    with comments from previous guests. Also advice on how to operate systems - we were unable to discover how to use the oven, and the hosts didn’t know either but very kindly cooked our fish pie in their Aga. I am writing the difficulties; otherwise the place was lovely, clean, beautifully furnished and with very comfy beds.

  • "Beautiful cottage, luxurious fittings, beautiful gardens, amazing hosts."

    . only down side is we were two couples, and the downstairs bathroom which is supposed to be the ensuite for the downstairs bedroom is accessed via the living rooms and you have to lock two doors so the couple using the upstairs bedroom don’t disturb you, it was just a bit of a pain having to ask if anyone wanted to go upstairs before you went in the shower.. otherwise we couldn’t find any fault with the property it was peaceful, and absolutely beautiful.

  • "The most amazing cottage to stay in the northern lakes, the scenery is incredible and so idilic."

    Very clean and immaculate inside and the garden is massive our golden Rolly loved it. The hosts Julie and Arthur are so friendly and welcoming, we really didn’t want to leave. We will be back!

  • "A beautiful well appointed cottage, connected to the owner’s property."

    The area is very quiet, with little traffic passing by, if you would like a peaceful break to recharge the batteries then this is it. Really enjoyed our stay even with the wet weather.

  • "Howe cottage was a lovely place to stay it was new so very smart and very clean situated in a very peaceful picturesque farm."

    The owners Arthur and Julie made us very welcome along with their five friendly dogs. There are a few things it lacked one being cupboard space but that wasn’t too much of an issue for us as there was only the two of us.

  • "What an absolutely fantastic place to stay - the location is central to numerous attractions, whilst rural enough to have a peaceful and quiet stay in the countryside."

    The cottage itself is finished to an exceptional standard with all the amenities you could need, with a beautiful garden which has a BBQ area and seating for you to enjoy the surroundings. One of the highlights of our stay was the attentiveness of the owners, who were able to reccomend fantastic local sights and places to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return in the future!

    Told us some lovely places to visit. We went for a relaxing holiday and that's just what we had. Views from the cottage were stunning. Bedrooms good sizes with roomy showers.

Two king-size beds encourages you to cosy up for the night, both complete with en-suite shower rooms, ideal for warming up after a long hike.

Penrith 5 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

This charming village has a number of 17th Century cottages and is conveniently situated just 5 miles from Penrith. Set just on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park, only 5 miles from Ullswater and the numerous picturesque walks available make this a fabulous location for fans of the outdoors. Nearby, the popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the north of the Lake District and has plenty to offer, boasting numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering the Theatre on the Lake, a charming cinema, museum, indoor climbing wall and miniature golf. The area also steeped in history with a 10th century church in the village, lovely castle in Penrith and the stunning remains of Lowther Castle. Greystoke provides easy access to the spectacular Cumbrian countryside which can be explored by both car and on foot, and the southern Lakes, Eden Valley, Pennines Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall all within close proximity, making this a great location with plenty to see and do.
