  • "The property was clean, as described and felt very homely."

Owners Tom and Sarah were fantastic. They kept us well informed and explained in depth how to reach the property. Absolutely beautiful homemade bread on the first day, it was very appreciated. Even the dogs were welcoming. A lovely relaxing stay and the view out the windows were idyllic. Only issues were not being able to control the heating and the sofas could do with a recover but other than that we loved it. Would definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area.

  • "We had a brilliant time at this wonderful house."

Lovely farmhouse charm and furniture with great touches of style and modern shower and bathrooms. Staying in the house is a lovely experience and the views from kitchen, living room and bedroom are truly bucolic. Our 4 young kids loved the animals and the fresh air, safe to explore the green spaces outside. Unfortunately the weather didn’t allow for tennis, but the court is a stone’s thrown from the house and the owner’s have kindly provided racquets. The owners/farmers live next door and are very friendly and helpful. Communication was really good as we prepared for our stay and upon arrival there was fresh bread and biscuits and milk in the fridge. Overall the house is beautifully done, in a lovely spot with friendly, thoughtful owners. Strongly recommend and we hope to visit again.

WIGTON

Carlisle 12 miles; Keswick 20 miles.

A traditional Cumbrian market town with a charter granted in 1262, which still holds a market each Friday in the covered market hall, along with an open air car boot sale which is held at Silloth. Wigton is a popular centre for shopping, pubs and restaurants, and also boasts a theatre, bowls, swimming, tennis and other sports. Lord Melvyn Bragg was a native of Wigton, and used the town (called Thurston in some of his writings) and the surrounding area as the setting for his novels including ‘A Time to Dance’. Located 18 miles from Penrith it is a good base for the attractions of the North Lakes, the cathedral city of Carlisle, 12 miles away, Keswick, just north of Derwentwater and close to Lake Bassenthwaite, and the natural beauty of the West Cumbrian Coast. Hadrian’s Wall is within 25 miles, while the Scottish Borders, and Gretna Green, are within easy reach.
