A very comfortable, clean and very cozy cottage.

The situation was perfect for us. Quiet but we were easily able to access the different areas we wanted to explore. Highly recommend.

Our stay at this cottage was absolutely perfect.

Easy to find, great location & has everything you need. We did 4 nights and could have stayed longer it was amazing! Would definitely recommend to family/friends and rebook in the future.

The property has great views of the sunset on evenings has all the facilities you need on arrival was also very clean. Dave was very helpful and pip the dog was friendly. Our dog loved the garden also.

Lovely little cottage spotlessly clean everything you could wish for a self catering holiday.

Perfect location close to Scotland, Lake district and Northumberland. The enclosed garden is a big plus if you have dogs the cottage is an upside down house the bathroom is on the ground floor with sitting room, Kitchen and bedroom on the first floor which gives you perfect views over the lake district the cottage is very light and airy I would definitely recommend we loved it so much we have booked to go back

We had an enjoyable 7 night stay, the property is furnished to a high standard.

It is located on a working farm but was peaceful and quiet throughout our stay. The shower room/toilet is located on the ground floor which may be a problem if your up and down a lot in the night. The shower is great and very powerful. The cottage was very warm and comfortable. The owner is friendly and approachable and Pip the dog is a character.

Very clean and modern .

Set in the open on the farm overlooking the river but not far from pubs /food. Great base for exploring the north lakes approx 30-40 mins in the car and similar time to travel east to the sites in Northumberland. Host very pleasant would look to book again if in this area in the future

Fantastic little cottage with a private secure garden perfect for our dog.

Great location for visiting Cumbria, Scotland and Hadrian's Wall. The living space is upstairs and fairly compact but has all you need for a comfortable stay and David the owner was really helpful. Would definitely stay again.

The cottage was beautiful.

Spotlessly clean. Quiet and peaceful. The bed is so comfortable like the chairs. Just a wonderful place to stay, close to amenities and handy for the lakes and the borders. The little paddock for the dogs was a godsend and David and Pip friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Tight Lyne cottage to anyone looking for the perfect holiday stay

Accommodation was immaculate with all the facilities you would need for your holiday. Every kitchen gadget you could need was available. Beautiful cottage, welcoming and so very relaxing. I cannot praise Tight Lyne Cottage highly enough and we look forward to returning in late summer 2026.

It was a lovely place and David the farmer was very approachable and engaging.

The location is ideal for those sightseeing seeing as it’s so central. It was very clean, tidy and modern. We Would recommend it.

We found the cottage to be exactly as described , and everything that had been mentioned in previous reviews.

The only issue worth mentioning would be, the stairs twist 180 deg going to the living area; this was not an issue for myself (age 72) but is a consideration worth making . Other than that, the dog liked the garden, we tended to walk the Esk river at Longtown, parking easy , and we switched the heating off for most of the time as the accommodation is lovely and warm. We would use the cottage again without a thought. David the owner is very friendly and we even had good weather.Thank you David for our stay.

Booked this property largely due to the great reviews and lovely photos.

Easy to find, the road leading to the property is very bumpy but manageable. Easy to park right outside with lots of space. There is an enclosed paddock for dogs but be aware it isn't attached to the house like a garden would be. Shower room is a decent size and very modern. We did have some issues with the hot water which the owner sorted out however no contact details were left in the property so we had to go through Sykes which meant waiting around. Sykes did follow up to check all was resolved which was good. No welcome hamper or goodies on arrival. The living room/kitchen/bedroom etc are all upstairs which allows for beautiful views of the countryside. It was generally lovely and quiet although you are connected to the owners house so you can hear some noise as not soundproof but nothing too bad. The bedroom is small but the bed is huge. This property gets hot very quickly and holds the heat well so much so it was sometimes a bit too hot to sleep. The wifi worked well. All in all we loved our stay here and would recommend this property. It is an average size for 2 people and a dog. The lovely farm dog is very patient and friendly even with our grumpy border terrier :-) The TV is a smart tv which is great and the log burner allows for cosy evenings. I would suggest you need a car to stay here as it is a bit remote. The town is about a 5 minute drive away but the roads around the cottage aren't really suitable for pedestrians. Thank you for a lovely stay, it was clean and comfortable, just what we wanted.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage.

Modern showeroom, lots of towels and toilet tissue. First impression walking in was how warm and well kept the cottage was. Fully equipped with modern kitchen fitting the cottage feel and dishwasher. There is a washing machine at the property too! We didn't take advantage of either. But great little extras. We lit the log burner for a cosy evening and we logged into our netflix to watch a film. WiFi was excellent. We were so grateful we could take our dogs. The dogs were welcome. We brought with us their towels and beds and food bowls. A lovely little gated area we were allowed to use for the dogs. We were out all day exploring so the dogs got well walked over the couple of days. Lots of things to do nearby if you like history, as we do. We regret the vulcan museum is only open on a Saturday so we'll have to come back for that! The Scottish border is near. Where we visited Gretna green. Going back to Tight Lyne...a big superking bed. Quiet location. Lots of wildlife to see and a very friendly owner David who came to check we were OK. Departure day we met Pip the border collie who you might see when David is working... just a real wholesome break for us overall. Thank you

Such a clean, cozy and relaxing cottage. Perfect location at the intersection of Northumberland, Cumbria and Scotland, so great for hiking (Hadrians wall) and trail running, sightseeing, roman history, traditional pubs, Gretna Green, and whisky tasting!

Tight Lyne is an absolute gem of a place to stay.

It is on a farm-the cottage is first class!It is exceptionally clean & very comfortable with everything you need for your stay -a real 'home from home'.David is very friendly & helpful & his dog Pip is lovely.We had a really nice week here & really recharged our batteries.We would not hesitate to book again if in the area & would recommend this cottage to any one.

Tight Lyne Cottage is the perfect peaceful holiday retreat.

Peaceful, immaculately clean, modern and comfortable, although not very suitable for a disability as living/sleeping area is upstairs and shower/toilet is downstairs by the entrance. Hi Situated within an area with plenty of places to visit, walks and of course Hadrians Wall. If there was one draw back it was the lack of an iron and ironing board. Also no hairdryer supplied. Otherwise a really lovely place.

We had the perfect stay in Tight Lyne Cottage.

The property is beautifully designed to a high standard, spotlessly clean, a super comfy bed and very dog friendly with a private walled paddock for your pet. David is a wonderful host and Pip the farm dog is a gem, welcoming our two terriers to her patch and even taking them for a swim. Some properties say they are dog friendly, but Tight Lyne certainly is. The cottage is perfectly placed to visit Hadrian's Wall, the Lakes and the coast, we recommend St Bees for the beach. We will certainly stay again.

Lovely stay in a very quaint well equipped cottage.

So beautifully decorated and an extremely comfortable bed. Fishing for hubbie was a bonus. Our Labrador enjoyed having her own paddock and it was lovely to be able to sit out and relax in the sunshine. David was an excellent host and not forgetting Pip coming for a fuss too. Thoroughly recommend this little cottage, very peaceful but central for travelling around Cumbria.

We had a wonderfully relaxing last minute stay at Tight Lyne Cottage.

Both the property owner and Sykes were extremely accommodating in allowing our booking on the same day. We really wanted a peaceful, quiet New Year away from fireworks with our precious pooch and we got exactly that. Tight Lyne Cottage is snug, cosy, clean and has everything we needed. Thank you!

Lovely cottage with the added bonus of a very comfortable superking bed, washer/drier, dishwasher etc.

The enclosed lawned garden is ideal for four legged friends. The cottage was very clean and the bedding was super soft.

A friendly owner (and dog).

Facilities were modern, comfortable and clean and the site was quiet but within easy reach of Hadrian's Wall, Kielder and Carlisle.

We had a lovely time at Tight Lyne cottage enjoyed fishing the river.

David was a good host happy to chat and there was Pip who always wanted her tummy rubbed.The cottage was comfortable with good views there lots of swallows and a couple hares jumping around.

A lovely location to escape to and first floor living gives a great view of the surrounding farmland and enabled us to watch farmer David busily tending his herd.

David the owner and his dog Pip gave us a very warm welcome on arrival. Very clean, modern and comfortable.

The owner David and the lovely Pip provided us with a warm welcome . We especially enjoyed relaxing with a bottle of wine in the walled garden area listening to the birds. Would definitely recommend this property.

No all was good

This cottage is absolutely perfect, cleaned to a really high standard with modern facilities and a big super king bed, it's quirky layout having the bathroom downstairs and the bedroom and living area upstairs allows for the beautiful views to be enjoyed from morning till night.

The owner David is so friendly and kind and pip his dog just steals the show, she is so beautiful. The cottage is on a working farm but does not impact negatively at all, In fact it adds to the setting. It is within reach of many places including Ullswater, Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall, Aire Waterfall, Cockermouth, Gretna, to name but a few (max an hour from the farm) . We would highly recommend, it was a fabulous stay. A gem of a find. Thankyou

This was a peaceful holiday in a quiet setting, the location is ideal for visits to the lakes and Scottish Borders. David the owner was very pleasant and helpful.

The standard of the cottage was very high which helped us to relax in it.

The owner was very helpful, obliging and friendly In spite of Covid-19 basic items were supplied such as salt & Pepper, kitchen & extra toilet rolls . Even tea & Coffee (to make on arrival)

The cottage has a slightly quirky lay out where the bulk of accomadation is up stairs with the bath room down stairs, Having said that it is very well fitted out with everything you need for your stay the decor is relaxing and well thougt out.

The cottage is at the end of a lane and is there for quite secluded and very peaceful with good veiws over the fields and river that runs close by with the use of a medium sized garden area perfect for dogs to run around in. My wife and I enjoyed our stay with our two dogs and would certainly go there again.

Peaceful and quiet yet close enough to the A7 to give very convenient access to tourist areas. The separate garden for the house was great.

John really enjoyed being able to fish only yards from the front door. The cottage was very clean and we enjoyed our stay, being on a farm you could hear the cows sometimes ,were not that loud to be honest, they did not disturb us at all. Good base for visiting the areas around. We have already booked July 2021. You won’t be disappointed. Enjoy.

We had a lovely peaceful week at Tight Lyne Cottage, it was perfect from start to finish, well maybe except the beautiful British weather.

The owner is around if needed but doesn’t intrude, the facilities immaculately clean, with everything you need...well maybe a DVD player might have been useful , but other than that it was fab. Huuugge bed to stretch out over. The resident animals are curious but ever so quiet. Well recommended!
