  • "Yet another wonderful stay at Edencroft -a lovely home from home cottage."

Has lovely walks on the doorstep and the cottage is well equipped. Love the table tennis. On arrival, the oven was not working properly, I called the phone number provided (property care-taker / owner) and the oven was fixed later that day - thank you for arranging the engineer to come out so promptly, it was greatly appreciated.

  • "Second visit, very happy with accommodation and equipment, same as the first time."

Only slight criticism is that it could cater for disabled people a bit better for example grab rail in shower or shower seat. Also loose rugs in hallway and passage could be a potential trip hazard. Overall very happy would stay again and would thoroughly recommend for a quiet and comfortable holiday. The four amigos.

Hi Eileen Many thanks for your feedback. The drive and foot path could do with a jet wash there is a lot of muck from the birds and animals and you can not afford bringing it in on your shoes

Dear Guest, Many thanks for drawing this to my attention and for being conscious of the cream carpets in the property! We do clean the drive/footpath regularly but the birds do return to lob clumps of moss out of the gutters. We will attend again this weekend/Monday to clear. • "On our arrival the outside refuse bin was full."

This was the same as our time here last year. We had no way of disposing of our waste, there only being one bin. Neighbours, we noticed, had the facilities of managing waste into separate containers ie recycling. Can I also recommend a calendar of bin collection dates so that people know when bins are due to be collected. There was no collection in the full week we there. Outside side paths are becoming slippy and could become a hazard very shortly. Passageway runner carpets continually ruck up and could also become a trip hazard. Heating, although very good, comes on at strange times ie middle of the night - maybe timer needs adjusting?.

Dear Guest, many thanks for your feedback. Responding to each of your points: 1. Waste collection - I can only apologies for the problem with the waste collection. Being a holiday-let property, Edencroft is treated as a commercial property for waste collection and therefore is not on the usual domestic waste collection arrangements in Greystoke Gill. I have a contract with a commercial operator to collect the waste every Monday after guests have been in the property the previous week - I notify them of the dates for collection as bookings are made. There is no collection if no guests have occupied the property the previous week. It was recently brought to my attention that the waste bin was full and I immediately contacted the waste operator who had inadvertently missed the collection at Edencroft. As a result of my call the bin was emptied last Monday and is due to be emptied again tomorrow following the departure of the guests who were in the property the week just gone. The waste operator only collects on Mondays in the Gill. Also the waste operator does not offer a recycling facility on collection; all waste is required to go in the same bag (ie the branded bags left in Edencroft, with instructions as to how to deal with waste). If a guest is especially keen to recycle certain items, the local recycling centre at Flusco has excellent recycling facilities. 2. Outside paths - many thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will have the paths seen to. 3. The runner was designed to protect the carpet in a well-used passageway through to the bedrooms and has rug grip tape attached. However as you have highlighted a possible trip hazard I will have the runner removed from that passageway. 4. Heating - I am keen to ensure that Edencroft is toasty warm especially over the winter. The property is heated by a very effective air source heat pump. Whereas the hot water is on a timer, the central heating is not - it works on the basis that the property is kept at a constant temperature (adjustable by guests) and if the ambient temperature drops below the set temperature the heat pump restarts to bring the temperature back up to target. Full instructions on the operation of the central heating and hot water systems are in the Guest Folder in the kitchen. Again, many thanks for your feedback. I hope you otherwise had an enjoyable stay at Edencroft. Best wishes, The Property Owner. Property Owner

Nice quiet location, with excellent access to the Northern Lakes and Pennines. Only improvement would be an electric fire ( perhaps stove type) in the lounge, as the log burner is out of commission. It would give a nice warm glow to enhance atmosphere, but having said that, we were plenty warm enough, so not a complaint. We had a great holiday.

Dear Guest, many thanks for your great feedback. I always think the location is a real plus for Edencroft - it is in a lovely quiet hamlet, which has little through traffic, yet it has easy access to the Northern Lakes and Pennines. I have been looking into getting an electric flame effect fire for the sitting room - I agree it would create a focal point (but without the mess of logs and ash, especially in view of the cream carpets!). As you say the cottage is toasty warm without it so it would be more for the visual effect. Delighted to hear you had a great holiday. Best wishes, the Property Owner. Property Owner

Ample parking spaces were available, making it convenient for both our vehicles. The facilities provided were top-notch. From a well-equipped kitchen to modern bathrooms and entertainment systems, everything was thoughtfully curated to enhance the overall experience. We particularly appreciated the attention given to detail, such as providing high-quality appliances, reliable Wi-Fi, and a variety of entertainment options, not least of which the table tennis in the games room! These facilities added a touch of luxury and convenience, ensuring that all our needs were met during our stay. Lastly, the location of the property was simply fantastic. We've stayed in a lot of holiday lets - but this one is off the scale! Every possible kitchen utensil, knives which actually cut, 4 smart TV's, fast WiFi and a full sized table tennis table! Very spacious property (don't let a bungalow fool you - it's huge). Immaculately clean, very tastefully decorated and furnished with quality oak furniture. Master bedroom has a lovely 6' wide zipped & linked bed. All bedrooms have blackout curtains so you're not woken at dawn. High quality 'Booths' supermarket 15 mins away at Penrith, alongside a Morrisons with a fuel station. Keswick and the Lakes similar distance in the opposite direction. Really minor improvement suggestion - rather than having two relatively plump pillows on each bed, could one be swapped for a thinner pillow, so guests have a choice of pillow thickness. As I say really minor point - overall I'd give this property a score of 99/100! Cannot wait to book again for another holiday at Edencroft.

  • "Whilst Eden Croft met my expectations there were 2 things that spoiled the holiday for me."

The excessive amount of sheets of instructions on what not to do and what to do in the cottage, alongside every surface being covered in coasters, place mats and trays left me feeling less than comfortable. On the morning of departure the cleaner arrived at 0935 and sat outside the property with the engine of her car running and hazard lights flashing whilst I packed the car and cleaned the house. As we drove out of the property she had to reverse to let us out and immediately drove in. Couldn’t wait to get rid of us is the feeling we had as we left. As a customer of Lakelovers for at least 20 years didn’t feel good.

Many thanks for the feedback on Edencroft; I am sorry to hear there were some things that you were not happy with. The Room Notes were meant to be informative for guests in an unfamiliar property, as well as seeking to protect the furniture and carpets. However we have now removed these Notes from all the rooms (other than those containing information about the kitchen and the central heating and hot water controls) and condensed the key information about the property into an overall instruction sheet which is now located in the Guest Information folder. As regards the trinket trays, coasters, etc I do have something of a penchant for these as they come in such lovely designs; in addition to protecting the surfaces, I always feel they add a bit of colour and interest to a room. However I will take a look to see if I have gone a bit over the top with these! I raised with my property management company the points you mention about the cleaners; I understand that they did indeed arrive early and parked up outside chatting in the car while waiting to access the property at 10am; I have requested that if in the future the cleaners arrive early, they park away from the property until the official check out time.
