2 Whiterow

2 Whiterow is a spacious, comfortably furnished and well equipped cottage with outstanding views.

We highly recommend. Julie, the owner is delightful and rightly proud of her property.

Beautiful accommodation with a fantastic view in a lovely coastal setting.

Would thoroughly recommend.

Julie very welcoming .

The cottage is perfect..been lots of time and still booked more for next year

What an amazing find.

A gorgeous cottage in a wonderful village with fantastic views right outside of the window. Beautifully clean and well provisioned. Julie the owner personally greets visitors and gives an excellent welcome.

On arrival at the cottage we received a very warm welcome from Julie who showed us around, explaining where everything was.

This spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable cottage is in a fantastic location, with views of the Solway Firth from the window ever-changing. We were sad to leave. The cottage is located is a lovely village and people are very friendly. For meals out, the nearby Powfoot Hotel provides great food. We would definitely recommend No. 2 Whiterow and hope to return in the future.

The location is stunning with an ever changing view of the Solway from front windows.

Also its proximity to the Powfoot Hotel with their excellent cuisine was extremely convenient. This was our 3rd vist and it just gets better!

We had an excellent week in the cottage though the weather was mixed.

The cottage was definitely 5* from comfy beds, to a well equipped kitchen and the bathroom shower was brilliant. The view from the cottage of the Solway Firth just across the road was magnificent. We enjoyed sitting in the garden listening to the birds, it was so peaceful there. The Powfoot Hotel 50 yds away was excellent for meals too. Lots to do in the area both for damp cooler days as well as beautiful sunny weather.

Everything you want and need for the perfect accommodation 2nd holiday this year at cottage 3rd one coming soon.

Perfect ....

Lovely comfortable sofa and bed.

Everywhere was clean and tidy with lots of room and equipment in the kitchen. Owner met us at the property and showed us round. The wine and shortbread biscuits were lovely, thank you. The information of the area and ideas for visits was plentiful. Lots of lovely walks from the door, pub/hotel next door but one comes highly recommended but need to book. We will be back

This was our fourth time in 2 Whiterow, a perfectly located cottage, for visiting the area.

Very clean, comfortable and welcoming. Lovely to see across the Firth, with the wildfowl and coastal views. We love this cottage, and have already booked, again, for later in the year.

This was our second stay at 2 Whiterow and just as nice as the first.

The owner, Julie, was there to give us a warm welcome, and the welcome gift was much appreciated. The cottage was immaculate, very comfortable with every amenity you could want. The position of the cottage is perfect, you can sit and watch the sea from the living room window, so relaxing. We hope to go back again at some point in the future. Perfect!

Fantastic views across the Solway Firth.

Warm and friendly greeting by Julie on arrival explaining everything we needed to know, and answering any questions we had. Lots to do in the area with great scenery as a bonus.

Great holiday cottage and great location will definitely be back.

Scenic, quiet location and a lovely cottage which is pristine, comfortable and well equipped.

Owners are nearby. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The cottage was amazing with its view accross the Solway Firth.

The cottage is comfortable, immaculate with everything you need . 50 yards away is the Powfoot Hotel which serves wonderful meals, you do need to book beforehand though. In addition, there are quite a few places to eat in the surrounding area. A good base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. We had a wonderful time there.

Instead of repeating how good the property and host Julie is we thought we'd list a few things that we particularly liked that nhadn't been mentioned before.

1 Very quiet, no sound from distant motorways or flight paths. What few cars go past the windows glide past almost silently. 2 A quiet village to wander around along the coast and in the woodlands, all on level te rrain. Something for grandson - the village green with some playthings and the shoreline to explore. And a nice little cinema in Annan. 3 Handy train station 3 miles away with easy parking if you want stress free travel without a car to Carlisle and beyond. 4 No dogs and no headache inducing plug in air fresheners. The only downside was the noisy fridge, hopefully rectified by now.

Our third visit to 2 Whiterow and not disappointed in any way.

Such a stunning view of the sea which is always changing. A great welcome from Julie and always sad to leave the peace and quiet of Powfoot

Amazing cottage, very comfortable, relaxing and well equipped, a home from home.

Julie met us on arrival and gave a tour of the property. The location is perfect for visiting the local area and also for watching the changing coastline. It's right beside the Powfoot Hotel if you wanted to pop in for meals or drinks. Highly recommend and we will be re-booking.

What an amazing cottage.

Everything you could ask for and spotlessly clean. The view across the Solway Firth is amazing and a lovely peaceful beach with access ramp just further down the road. Julie was a wonderful host and provided a tour and all the information we needed at our meet and greet. There was a lovely welcome bottle and biscuits, which were appreciated. We would highly, highly recommend this accommodation if you like peace and quiet. Thank you Julie, we will definitely be back. Janet, Tony, Liz & Eric

We have stayed in three Sykes properties up till now and this is by far the best, spotlessly clean, great location superbly equipped and furnished, great welcome from Julie the owner , would highly recommend this cottage and would have no hesitation in booking again.

Dave & Avril.

Fabulous cottage with great views!

Really well equipped and a very friendly host to show you around on arrival. We re-booked straight away!!

Whiterow is the perfect accomodation in everyway.

Julie was very welcoming and took time to explain all you need to know.Already booked again for this year.Anyone looking to stay in Powfoot should make this your first call.

Fantastic cottage, every facility, was cosy and warm.

Comfortable bed and couch. Kitchen well equipped nothing lacking. View was amazing even in the winter. Julie was lovely, showed us where everything was and how it worked. Food very good a local hotel.

This property is perfect for a little escape - the host is great and is on hand should you need anything during your stay.

The views from the accommodation are so beautiful. We especially enjoy cooking in the property as the spacious and well stocked kitchen has everything you need. We’ve always stayed 3 times and have booked again for later in the year. It’s one of my favourite places to visit and I’m very thankful to have found it. Thanks for having us :)

The property was first class Julie the owner greeted us very nice lady & explained the controls for central heating etc very cosy cottage, would highly recommend to any one wanting a truly relaxing week away the views from the room window are straight out onto the coast.

We had a lovely time at 2 Whiterow, fantastic cosy cottage, everything you need.

Lovely welcome from Julie. We are hoping to return next year, we didn’t want to leave.

Very comfortable, everything you need , The view is beautiful.

I would definitely say it is the best property we have ever booked and we always book holiday cottages. Perfect!

Lovely cottage in a good location and great views, welcomed by the owner who is a lovely lady so couldn’t have asked for anything better .

Thanks for the stay.

This was our third stay at this cottage, and already booked again, for next year.

If you want somewhere to just relax, within a lovely, peaceful village, then this is perfect. Some nice flat walks, direct from the door, and lovely to watch the birds, as the tides come in, and go out. Annan is very close, with a variety of shops, including a large supermarket. Powfoot is a great base, for attractions, in Dumfries and Galloway. Threave Gardens and nature reserve, Caerlaverock Castle, Caerlaverock WWT (bird species, and number, vary greatly, depending on time of year). Highlight were the tours, we did, at Bainloch Deer Park. Many other places worth visiting too. We would happily recommend 2 Whiterow, as we enjoyed the most comfortable sofa, and bed, plenty of crockery, and very clean. Thanks Julie.

Faultless accommodation Juile a wonderful host.

Already booked again for 2026!

We have stayed at various self catering cottages and 2 Whiterow Powfoot stood out head and shoulders above any other.

Julie the owner met us on arrival and talked us through everything we needed to know. Some owners just leave a key and let you get on with it. The cottage has been furnished to an exceptional high standard and no expense has been spared with everything in the cottage. To top it off, the view from the cottage looks over the Solway Firth towards the Lake District. It is also literally 1 minutes walk to the Powfoot Hotel which serves proper food, for lunch and dinner. We loved our stay that much we have already re-booked for a return visit. Thank you for a lovely weeks break!

This was our second stay in 3 years at the cottage and it is just as great as it was the first time.

Julie has thought of everything that you could need to make this a home away from home during your stay. It is situated in a lovely quiet spot on the Solway coast with lovely views. Nothing is too much trouble for Julie who is a great host and has great knowledge of local places to visit. We highly recommend 2 Whiterow and will visit again.

A beautiful well equipped cottage in a fantastic location on the Solway Firth.

Excellent location for exploring Annan, Dumfries, Castle Douglas, Lockerbie & Moffat. Highly recommend.

Fantastic cottage in a great location.

Warm welcome from the owners, very well equipped cottage. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Lovely cottage in great location overlooking the Solway Firth.

Very comfortable bed. Lots to do within an hour's drive

This holiday was our second successive yearly holiday in Powfoot.

On this occasion we stayed at 2 Whiterow and this property was equally as good, if not better, than the property we stayed at last year. The owner, Julie, met myself and my partner upon arrival and showed us around the property and how to work everything, heating, cooker, dishwasher, etc, etc. Julie was extremely pleasant to talk too and and answered all of our questions, including giving us some insights into the places where we might one to visit whilst on our holiday. Needless to say, we took heed of some of her recommendations and had a lovely week's holiday. Thank you for being so warm and accommodating. David & Carol

Upon arrival I was so impressed with the accommodation.

Julie (the Owner) was ever so helpful giving us advice on all sorts of topics. I usually take the advice and comments of personnel who have been before with a pinch of salt however they were all true. Lovely and quite left to "get on with it" but with the knowledge that if you required help it was available. Even the Sun got his hat on. A lovely time many thanks.

This is a very nice cottage set in a wonderful position.

The owner Julie waited at the cottage for us and warmly welcomed us, she went through the cottage ref heating fridge washing machine dishwasher which was really good. The cottge was nicely done out and spotlessley clean and nicely appointed I would recommend 2 Whiterow to anybody Thanks for making our holiday very restful

The cottage was beautiful, spotlessly clean, furnishings of a high standard and very comfortable.

The location was perfect with views of the sea from the living room. The owner, Julie, gave us a warm welcome and was very friendly, made our holiday complete. I would love to go back there in the future.

Excellent host and we felt very relaxed in the Cottage and it's location.

If I could rate the cottage higher I would!

An immaculate and luxurious space, well planned with top spec furnishing and finishing. I cannot recommend it high enough. The owners have gone above and beyond with the thought and consideration put into their guests' comfort and wellbeing, thank you.

Absolutely excelent in all aspects.

Wonderful owners . Property is in an excellent position for a relaxing holiday

Our second visit to Whiterow cottage and we still feel so welcome and at home there.

Julie was very welcoming and explained everything we needed to know. Powfoot is so beautiful and the view of the sea is exceptional. Thank you Julie for creating Whiterow cottage which is still like being at home.

A beautiful cottage in a scenic spot with a great coastal view.

The accommodation is furnished and maintained to a very high standard, and the owners live locally and are very helpful. There’s a very good hotel offering meals and snacks close by and shops are a 10 min drive away in Annan. We thoroughly recommend this accommodation and have stayed several times.

Made very welcome great facilities lovely cottage had a great weeks stay will definitely stay there again

Absolutely lovely cottage with everything you needed for a 1st class holiday.

It was so clean ,tidy and well furnished with a lot of thought having gone into every room. The view and the peacefulness were just great for a quiet relaxing holiday and having the hotel so close for eating out was an added bonus. We would thoroughly recommend .

Really enjoyed our stay.

Exceptionally warm and comfortable cottage, so very much an all year round place to stay. Even in the winter there are views across to the Lake District. Lots of interesting places in the area to visit, whatever the weather. The owner is very helpful and friendly, would highly recommend and we will be back.

The cottage is set in a beautiful location with gorgeous views literally on the doorstep.

Well equipped cottage with everything you need for a self catering break. Beds very comfortable and the property is extremely clean. The host was extremely welcoming and the meet and greet was very much appreciated. There are some shops and restaurants a short drive away - handy location for walks along the beach. This cottage is the perfect property for a relaxing getaway. We would love to return again and explore more of the local attractions/community.

A lovely, spacious and comfortable cottage with a spectacular view over the Solway Firth.

Great restaurant just next door. Gorgeous walks right from the cottage. Everything else a short drive away. Owner was very helpful.

Second time, this year, at 2 Whiterow, and we shall return, next year, hopefully.

This is a lovely welcoming property, very clean and comfortable, and Julie, the owner, was only a phone call away, should there be any problems or questions. Ideal base to visit attractions, in the area, and most places, we wanted to go, where within an hour's journey. Very happy to recommend, to anyone, looking for a peaceful sea view, and being so dark allows fantastic views, of the night sky, when not cloudy.

Lovely cottage - always wanted to stay on white row and lived up to expectations - powfoot is part of family heritage.

Everything we needed and close to family in Annan. Definitely will book again. Thanks to Julie for our stay in her home.

Lovely well maintained property, well equipped, clean, cosy and comfy.

Great location and a good base for visiting Dumfries and Galloway.

Really helpful cottage owner.

Beautiful location. Well laid out accommodation. Modern. Enjoyable.

We had a fantastic holiday in Whiterow cottage.

The cottage feels like home and has everything you would need and the view is beautiful. The locals are all very friendly a really lovely place. Definitely would will return and recommend to everyone. Thanks Julie for making our holiday so enjoyable.

A lovely coastal property, which is absolutely pristine and very comfortable, with a stunning view of the Solway Firth and the Lake District hills beyond.

Owners live locally and are extremely friendly, helpful and reliable. The property is well equipped and maintained. I thoroughly recommend the property and look forward to our next stay here.

great cottage very clean love to go again

Five stars all round .

best place to stay very good view across to England . When we stayed the weather was not good some days .But we was warm in side watching the wind blow and the rain full .but when sun came out ,birds on beach singing is all you can here .and on a Wednesday the shop van comes round .so if you want to relax walk a quiet time best place to do it just do not for get you binoculars to watch the birds or golf clubs as its a 5 min walk to the golf course

Welcomed by Julie and showed around cottage upon arrival.

All facilities were spot on, everything you need for cooking and drinking, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer etc etc. Big double bedroom with sea view smaller back bedroom with 2 singles, we did not use. Fantastic location, Powfoot is very quiet, if you want a place with bars and restaurants, this is not for you, it suits us down to the ground, to get away and just relax and watch the world go by The bars are in nearby Annan, taxi £10 each way or a walk of 1hr 20mins. Eat in the Powfoot Hotel, good for lunch and dinner and a nice spot for a pint overlooking the Solway Firth, walk down to Queensbury Holiday Park, they have a nice bar and food area, we only had a drink and cannot comment on the quality of the meals. Try Annandale Distillery for a lunch, very nice. Lots of things to do in the area, but be prepared to drive, Powfoot is quite remote. Would we stay here again, 100%. Thanks Julie.

A great holiday had by both of us we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable beautiful cottage with fantastic view, well equipped and spotless.

Good location with lots to do out and about. Hosts Julie and Scott were lovely and very helpful. Julie showed us around cottage and explained how to work everything and we were left a nice bottle of Prosecco and delicious shortbread what a lovely thought thank you to you both. Very happy holiday makers. Would love to return some day.

Lovely holiday cottage and warm and informative key handover by the owner.

We had a very warm welcome from Julie, the cottage is delightful, renovated to the highest specification.

There was every thing we needed & more. I would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation.

The cottage was everything we hoped for.

Fantastic location, a joy to look out over the ever changing vista across the Solway Firth. The cottage was very comfortable, especially the bed! We had a very warm welcome for Julie, the owner, which was much appreciated.

Perfect accomodation.

Home from home. Stunning views. Would thoroughly recommend. Julie the owner could not get more helpful.

The cottage was outstanding.

We have used Sykes, many times and this is definitely up there with the very best. Julie came across, to explain about heating, hot water, recycling etc. and provided information on various eateries, in the area, and should we require any help, or advice, was at the end of the phone. The property was very clean, and the bed comfortable, and we have kitchen envy. Fantastic views across the firth, with the rise and fall, of the tides, altering it every day. There were lots of heron, cormorant and egrets, mostly using the swimming pool, as a food source. Whiterow provides an ideal base for touring the area, with WWT Caerlaverock and Caerlaverock Castle, close by. Also recommend Threave house and gardens. The cottage allowed us to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing time to celebrate our anniversary (and a special trip to Gretna Green). Once again, thank you Julie, and we shall return.

We had a wonderful week at this property excellent location and a beautiful property.

Julie the owner could not do enough for us. We will definitely be back. Regards Janet and John Sturgess

A beautiful cottage in a stunning setting with lovely views across the Solway Firth to the Lake District hills.

The cottage is pristine and very well equipped forming a quiet, cosy and comfortable base for exploring Dumfries + Galloway and also the Gretna/Carlisle area. The little village of Powfoot does have an excellent hotel but book dining in advance. The owner of the cottage lives locally and is extremely helpful and friendly. We can’t recommend the accommodation enough and look forward to our next visit.

We had a warm welcome from Julie, who showed us around the cottage on arrival, a very nice touch.

A beautiful clean and comfortable cottage with stunning views from the settee or window over the Solway Firth. We enjoyed watching the "swimming pool" on the beach fill and empty with the tide. There is a freezer in the kitchen that is not mentioned in the write up of the cottage, this was very useful. The Powfoot Hotel, a short walk away serve an excellent scone jam and cream. We had bright sunny weather and enjoyed touring the surrounding area. Janet

What a lovely cottage, everything that you needed had been thought of.

Great location for a relaxing break. Thank you Julie for making us so welcome and the bottle of wine was very much appreciated on our first night, after the closure of the M6 and our exciting drive over Kirkstone Pass !

The cottage is spotless, very homely and cosy with fantastic views over the Solway Firth.

Easy access and walks for my elderly Mum. We loved our holiday in Powfoot and highly recommend this lovely cottage.

Easter weekend treat at this warm & cozy, beautifully finished cottage overlooking Solway Firth.

Within easy reach of Dumfries for park run, Threaves National Trust, lots of wildlife and bird reserves to spot red squirrels, kites, ospreys etc. Thanks to host Julie for a truly fabulous stay.

We were greeted on the doorstep but the host Julie, who showed us round and explained everything, nothing was too much trouble, a nice bottle of wine and chocolates to greet you with.

The cottage is spotlessly clean, comfortable and has everything you could need during your stay. Some people’s needs are different than others, but what we needed was there, it was warm and cosy, you could park your car and do whatever you wanted. Beautiful views across the Solway, very changeable by the minute. We found the beach not to our taste, very uneasy in places and not one to walk on without getting sludged up. We walked to Annan which I don’t recommend, it wasn’t pleasant. Annan isn’t a place I would visit again, I didn’t impress at all. Powfoot village is quite quaint, especially near the bowling green, but you can see it all in an afternoon. Walks along to the caravan park we’re enjoying too. The pub next door virtually do nice food, which I recommend. Overall, the cottage was perfect in every way, the view is stunning but you need to drive further afield to see things as Powfoot doesn’t offer much apart from the same walk along the coast. Unfortunately the weather for us wasn’t ideal, we enjoyed the cottage, but Powfoot didn’t do it for us.

Superb the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed at

Fantastic holiday cottage, really comfortable, homely and immaculately clean.

It is decorated and furnished to the highest standard, - everything is of 'excellent quality'. Julie the owner was absolutely lovely, friendly, approachable and nothing was too much trouble. We were also left a treat of wine and chocolates - thank you Julie ! The cottage is situated right on the Solway coast with fantastic views, in particular the wonderful view of the old Edwardian bathing pool which it is said was used as recently as 40 years ago!. Powfoot is a delightful little village and is perfect for a peaceful and relaxing holiday, we loved the community hut in the bowling green, its open to all and you can buy donated items by leaving your payment in an honesty box - quaint and refreshing! Powfoot is situated within easy reach of Dumfries, the lakes and many other places of interest in Dumfries and Galloway. The Sitar indian takeaway is literally 5 minutes drive away in Annan and its gorgeous as is the Anglers in Annan. The Powfoot hotel which is a few steps away from the cottage serves absolutely lovely food and the staff are really nice. Would highly recommend 2 Whiterow Powfoot for a relaxing and enjoyable break.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 2 Whiterow, Powfoot while our new kitchen was being installed in Dumfries.

Julie gave us a very warm welcome, very friendly and showed us around the cottage which had every modern convenience available for us, very comfortable and cosy. Beautiful views of the Solway coast. Tasty meals in local Powfoot Hotel. Lovely walks. We couldn't ask for more. Linda and Hugh Kelly.

A lovely cosy cottage.

Perfect spot for birdwatching from the warmth of the living room! Very handy base for exploring an interesting area - plenty to see and do.

The cottage is just lovely.

The views are spectacular. Julie the owner is just lovely and was at the cottage to meet us on our arrival. She explained where things were in the cottage and how they worked. The cottage is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and has everything you could ever need. We slept so well as the mattresses, pillows and duvets are good quality and so comfortable. Julie kindly left us some bubbly and chocolates to celebrate the NY - a personal touch and so kind. We loved the cottage so much and hope to stay again! Thank you Julie x

Great place .

The photo's don't do justice to the cottage. Great view over the Irish sea. It was warm cosy and clean. Very goor beds! The owner was super friendly and welcome us when we arrived with a welcome pack. Very sweet. . Thanks again.

Really nice and friendly owner with a lovely cottage to let in a beautiful location.

Cottage is well fitted out and is nice for a relaxing break.

Absolutely loved our stay here.

We had a really lovely welcome from Julie, she showed us around and explained how everything worked, which was great. The view of the beach from the living room and main bedroom is fabulous, plenty of wading birds to see as the tide goes out. The kitchen is well-equipped and there’s a lovely seating area outside in the back garden. The bed is so comfortable, we had great sleeps, setting us up for a day’s exploring! The location is beautiful, lots of places to visit by car. We thoroughly enjoyed the Annandale Distillery tour. Had a tasty Afternoon Tea at the hotel up the road (Del Amitri at The Powfoot Hotel) and even managed to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) one evening, with just a 5 minute walk up the road. An absolutely amazing stay here, highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back!

We were made so welcome and shown round the cottage - and what a lovely place to stay.

Number 2 White row is a delight and so comfortable. Our neighbours and the people of Powfoot were friendly and helpful. The views from the window were ever changing and local walks facinating. The two standout trips for us were The Devils Porridge in Eastrigg and the Gracefield Art Centre in Dumfries - as a bonus both have good cafes!! Ann and John

Beautiful, comfy, cosy and clean cottage with fabulous views of Solway Firth and Lake District.

Have stayed here several times and would thoroughly recommend it. Great accommodation in a lovely location.

Our stay at 2 Whiterow was our best holiday to date and we will definitely be making a return visit.

Julie, the owner was superb and has ensured the best possible stay by giving a luxurious sleep with the quality of her mattresses, combined with the stunning views gives an amazing stay. Thank you very much.

Lovely location; comfortable, well-stocked cottage; helpful owner.

A SUPERB HOLIDAY COTTAGE IN A WONDERFUL LOCATION, WITH STUNNING VIEWS.

WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. WEATHER WAS MIXED, BUT WE STILL ENJOYED OURSELVES. EXCELLENT ATTENTION TO DETAIL BY THE OWNER. FIRST CLASS DECOR - VERY TASTEFUL. Gordon and Coralie Clifford, Southwell, Notts.

Been a Sykes customer for decades and this cottage has been one of the best

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location with amazing 'doorstep' views of the Solway coast.

The cottage is immaculate and has all of the facilities you will need for a lovely stay. Julie was there to give us a warm welcome and explain where thing were and how they worked. The cottage is in a lovely friendly village with a range of short walks around it. We loved the surrounding area and enjoyed visiting many of the towns, villages, museums and attractions in this part of Galloway. We would highly recommend this cottage and area to anyone wanting a relaxing and quiet break and will book again in the near future.

The cottage was beautiful and in a lovely place.

Julie was very kind and a lovely host. The bed was so comfy which helped to add to a very relaxing break Many thanks Jule

On arrival at 2 Whiterow, we were greeted by the owner Julie, a lovely lady who proceeded to talk us through the facilities of the cottage.

The cottage is absolutely lovely and has all you need for a great stay. It is ideally located for exploring Dumfries and Galloway and beyond. The views from the cottage are beautiful overlooking the Solway Firth. We highly recommend this cottage as a base for your holiday.

This cottage reached all expectations, the only thing i found was the sofa wasn,t very comfortable,i am 76 with back problems so maybe thats why.

Lovely well maintained cottage in beautiful location.

Really excellent holiday accommodation: terrific view, beautifully maintained property and extremely comfortable.

Would thoroughly recommend.

We would definitely recommend it.

Very kind and helpful - property excellent - we were only sorry that our stay had to be so short!

Such a peaceful and relaxing place.

Cottage is done out to a very high standard with everything you could need; it is comfortable and clean and tidy. The view is magnificent and changes constantly with the tidal flow. So many different birds to seem. Lovely area with many good walks and places to visit further a field. Would highly recommend.

Nice cottage with a great outlook.

Quiet location but close enough in a short car journey to major supermarkets for supplies. Nice spot to do some local walks from. Cottage is well fitted out and well maintained. An enjoyable break.

Amazing property for location and accommodation.

Very clean, modern layout and furnishings. Host very helpful .Home from home feeling as soon as you take off your walking shoes and put on your slippers. Would certainly recommend this property with no negative comments

Lovely, spacious cottage with a beautiful view across the estuary.

Immaculately clean, no maintenance issues. Julie, the owner, was very helpful - meeting us on arrival to give us a quick tour, explain the heating/hot water system & answer any queries. Hotel just a few doors down, for drinks, meals etc and caravan park café just a pleasant 15 minute stroll away. Powfoot is a lovely village and a great place from which to explore the surrounding area. Would highly recommend & happily return again.

A lovely property, very well maintained and equipped in a fabulous location.

The cottage was very spacious and offered everything it advertised on the website. Julie is a charming and lovely host, easy to liaise with and was available for any questions we had.She had even left us a bottle of bubbly and chocolates to help us settle in

Lovely cosy cottage with views across the Solway Firth.

On arrival we received a warm welcome by Julie. A perfect place for us to spend our Christmas. The property was spotless and made all the more homely with some Christmas decorations which gave it a lovely festive feel. Well furnished throughout we really enjoyed our stay.

This is a lovely cottage and the sea views are wonderful.

There is much to do in the area especially if you like wildlife and bird spotting. When clear, the night sky is something to behold. The owner is very friendly and supportive and keeps the house immaculately clean. We hope to return in the near future.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location.

Clean and well maintained by the owners. We had a great time and will not hesitate to come back in the near future.

A simply wonderful cottage!

A warm welcome from owner Julie and a couple of treats to start the holiday off. ( Maybe pop a pint of milk in the fridge too?). Beautifully appointed rooms, spotlessly clean and with a fabulous view over the Solway Firth. Lots of birdlife on the shore when the tide was right. Powfoot is an attractive little village and the golf course is just up the road. Despite not having the best of weather, this warm and cosy cottage was a delight to return to after days out, and is highly recommended.

Loved the cottage ut has all you need ,its very comfortable and in pristine condition.

Always absolutely pristine on arrival and very comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend this property and looking forward to our next holiday here.

The cottage was excellent very comfortable with great outlook thoroughly enjoyable

The holiday cottage was spotlessly clean and everything was provided that we could possibly have needed during our stay.

We appreciated that the owners took the trouble to meet and greet us on arrival, and showed us round the property. The location overlooking the Solway Firth was stunning and we would certainly like to stay here again in the future.

Excellent property and a lovely, helpful owner.

An excellent cottage which we have visited last year and hope to visit again in the future.

The excellence and comfort of all that is provided is second to none in our experience, and the views from the cottage are wonderful. Powfoot is a delightful village, served by an excellent hotel/restaurant, just 2 doors away from the cottage and we were able to enjoy a rich series of visits within an hour's ride from Whiterow. Again......many thanks for the splendid hospitality.

Excellent

You are sure to receive a warm welcome and useful information from Julie & Scott on your arrival.

The cottage is immaculate with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The view and sunsets were incredible. The location is ideal for exploring the area. I highly recommend this cottage and hope to return. (The welcome gift was most enjoyable)

Fantastic standards of decor and facilities we have admired these cottages for the last 40 years of returning to Powfoot for a break and it was finally a pleasure to stay in one great host’s and the scenery every morning just amazing.

Thanks I look forward to a return visit.

we enjoyed our stay very much.

Julie was very helpful everywhere clean.

We were welcomed by Julie who was lovely, very informative.

The Bungalow had everything we required and everything was to the highest standard. We loved the view and changing shore line. Beautiful Rainbow on our last evening on the Solway firth.

The cottage was as described.

Excelent accommodation, very clean with a delightful owner who could not be more helpful. 2 Whiterow is a little gem and well worth a revisit. If you want a relaxing holiday then this is the place for you.

The property is perfect, immaculate and the owner lovely.

The bed is super comfortable, the facilities are excellent. The views are incredible just what we needed a relaxing holiday. The bottle of fizz and chocolates were a welcoming thought. We will definitely be stopping there again thank you.

A beautiful, pristine cottage at the coast.

Lovely views and ideal for a quiet, relaxing break with plenty of nice walks and interesting places nearby. Accommodation is kept to a high standard, and the owners are nearby if there is a need to contact them. We’ve stayed a few times and have rebooked, and we would thoroughly recommend the property.

A delightful cottage with a glorious view over the Solway.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, the beds and seating extremely comfortable and we were met by the lovely owner on arrival. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

The very best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in.

Super clean, spacious, really well presented. High end, really comfortable matresses and beds. Furnishings, etc, are really tasteful, and new. Views from the windows are breathtaking. We had a wonderful week. A big thank you to our hostess Julie.

The owner was very welcoming and the cottage was wonderful.

Superb location with a great view of the sea - we walked on the beach everyday. We all had a very relaxing holiday and would love to visit again.

Cottage was extremely comfortable, clean & well equipped.

The owner was very welcoming & helpful on our arrival. Lovely location & great sea view. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Friendly approachable owner.

Wonderful accessible shed for storing bikes. Lovely sitting in the window reading and watching the constantly changing view of the sea. A very relaxing holiday.

A lovely property, fantastic views across the estuary.

The owner has put a lot of thought into making her cottage warm welcoming and well equipped.

It was exceptional in every way

Another very enjoyable visit to this fabulous cottage, which is in a superb position in Powfoot.

The cottage is very comfortable and has everything that I need. I spent most of my time birdwatching between Caelaverock, Rockcliffe (on the English side) and Powfoot, but also for the first time I climbed nearby Criffel from Ardwall for spectacular views of the Solway Firth and the Lake District.

Cosy, comfortable and welcoming.

Excellent location!

everything was faultless, the, owner is extremly understanding and helpful the cottage, the location the wonderful outlook everything about it is spot on.

The perfect cottage in the perfect location, right on the coast overlooking the estuary.

Ideal for birdwatching with thousands of birds right in front of the house and close to some other great areas (Caerlaverock NNR, Rockcliffe marsh etc ). The cottage was immaculate and had everything I needed. A great stay.

A delightful Cottage in a beautiful location.

Comfort and cleanliness were excellent and everything you need for a short stay seemed to be provided. The owner, Julie, was easily contacted, and very pleasant to talk with. We did have a small problem at the cottage, and Julie was extremely helpful and conscientious in sorting out the problem very quickly. The location is superb, with fabulous views, and trips to Dumfries and Edinburgh provided excellent gastronomic treats. Thankyou.

2, White Row is absolutely outstanding, as is its incredible location, in fact, the photographs do not do it justice.

The cleanliness, dedication and welcome given by the lovely owner, was second to none and I have already been recommending this hidden gem, to friends, as a beautiful, most relaxing and therapeutic getaway, for the future. There are stunning views and wonderful walks, literally from the doorstep, friendly locals who are delighted to stop for a wee chat and share local information about the area, which adds to the already incredibly packed in-house folder, giving details of amenities and attractions etc. This amazing property, literally only a stone’s throw from the sea, is an absolute must, for all visitors, of all ages and disabilities. Thank you.

wonderful cottage with everything we could possibly want or need, sparkly clean and very comfortable with the sea on our doorstep, there is nothing not to like.

we would definitely recommend and would love to stay again.

Fabulous cottage with every facility.

Julie and her husband were very helpful and informative. The view from the cottage was also lovely. Would love to go back.

Lovely cottage and our host Julie was very welcoming.

Great location, very comfortable and well equipped.

Location deserves 11/10, to wake up each morning with unobstructed view of solway firth was great way to start day.

Julie (owner) ensred all our needs were met & it all led to a brilliant relaxing week.

The cottage is quite a bit larger than it seems in the photos and the garden better too.

It was so clean on arrival you'd believe we were the first to stay there. If we were to visit this area again we would try here first to stay.

This is a wonderful cottage.

Very comfortable, carefully equipped with everything you might need, and tastefully furnished to a very high standard. The view over the Solway Firth constantly changes with the tide and we saw herons, oyster catchers and other sea birds every day. With binoculars, we could even watch a seal colony on the sand bank at low tide. With Annan just four miles away, we had easy access to a wide range of local shops, pubs, other food outlets and a large supermarket. Highly recommended and certainly the best self catering property we have ever stayed in.

The cottage was immaculate and very well maintained.

Julie greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the house/suggestions of places to eat & visit. We also had a nice welcome pack - wine, chocolates, milk and bread. The views from the cottage were amazing and we will definetely be looking for a seaview next time. All in all a great place to stay and would highly recommend it.

Beautiful cottage with excellent facilities.

Lovely part of the country to explore. The owner Julie was extremely helpful and explained everything when we arrived. Will be back for sure

We had a wonderful holiday in a wonderful cottage in a wonderful location, a hidden gem.

We had our 93 year old mother with us and the cottage was ideal for her. Don't hesitate in booking this cottage, if you don't you have missed out on something quite special. Just one thing, the people of Powfoot rise up and do something about the menu at the Powfoot Hotel, very odd and not very good. We would also like to give Julie the owner a special thanks, she's absolutely lovely, welcoming and very helpful. It was just Perfect!

The owner Julie was there to meet us.

she explained everything we needed to know.the property was exceptional and there was everything we needed and more.the neighbours were friendly too.the position was lovely looking out onto the solely firth.we would definitely recommend the cottage .we had never visited the area before so we enjoyed exploring.thanks again to Julie and her husband

I am not sure if it is possible to describe how wonderful our holiday was.

The cottage surpassed all expectations. The comfort and standard and location were outstanding. We were blessed with beautiful weather, but you could stay here even with the worst weather and still look out onto the stunning landscape and be refreshed. On the day we arrived Julie was there to welcome us and show us how everything worked, and only a text away if help was needed. Plenty of information about the local area was provided. New Abbey with its excellent cafe is well worth a visit. The Powfoot Hotel has a very popular restaurant and our advice is to book in at their restaurant a week before you arrive. That is what we will do on our next visit. Oh yes, we will definitely return to 2 Whiterow.

It was nice to meet the owners Julie and Scott who were very friendly and informative.

It was a very clean and tidy cottage lovely views and garden to relax in .Plenty to see round about. Jan and Will

No 2 Whiterow exceeded our expectations in so much as the cottage was immaculate in all aspects.

On arrival we were met by the owner who explained everything to us and made us feel very much at home. The owners must be proud of what they have achieved and its evident that they take pride in the presentation of their cottage. We would strongly recommend No 2 Whiterow and intend to revisit soon.

Julie and Scott have refurbished this cottage to perfection.

It is far more spacious than you think looking at the outside. Julie has thought of everything you may need for your holiday right done to a packet of toothbrushes in case you had forgotten your own. The weather was not in our favour but the cottage was warm and cosy and Netflix on the TV was an added bonus. The weather also meant we could not take advantage of the Hotel a few doors along due to Covid restrictions so had to settle for a glass of wine at the cottage looking out into the Solway and Cumbria beyond, could have been far worse! Great base for exploring the area. Julie is warm and friendly and nothing is a bother for her. Loved this cottage do much.

Our second stay at Whiterow Cottage was equally as comfortable, cozy and relaxing as our first stay You must try Laineys Kitchen cakes and jams at the end of the road

Just a beautiful cottage with fabulous owners in a great location.

.. what more could you want!

Absolutely first class.

Julie and Scott could not have been more helpful and they have a lovely cottage with all facilities. Since one of us is in the Shielding category we were nervous about health security but the arrangements were perfect. The position looking onto the Solway is wonderful and we were able to birdwatch through binoculars as well as to travel in an area that we used to know. The touch of leaving wine and chocolates was much appreciated. We would definately like to come back when things get back to more normal. Quite the best accommodation we have had through Sykes. Iain and Isabel Whyte

We absolutely loved our stay at Whiterow!

The cottage is gorgeous and has a very homely and loved feel to it. We hope to return very soon

The cottage was very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped.

The situation of the cottage overlooking the Solway was amazing especially as the tide movement keeps the view constantly changing and beach was lovely to walk along. Powfoot is a pretty village with a popular hotel for food and drinks. The surrounding area was interesting to explore with some fascinating history. The Devils Porridge Museum at Eastriggs is worth a visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay there, and hope to return.

The cottage was very comfortable with full facilities and had glorious views of the estuary Local areas of interest are excellent and met all expectations in Dumfries and Galloway The golf course is a few yards from the cottage and Powfoot is a well respected course (constructed by James Braid )

A spacious, well appointed cottage, immaculately clean, with a fabulous view in a peaceful location.

We were given a very warm welcome by the hosts. Highly recommended.

Nice relaxing cottage everything that you required to make your holiday enjoyable, Nice area for walking along the sea front.

Met by the owner Julie who showed us around the cottage and told us about the area. Hope to back in the not to distant future.

A really beautiful cottage - very recently renovated.

Surprisingly spacious and extremely comfortable. Powfoot is a stunning spot for a relaxing, quiet holiday, but there is plenty to see and do in Dumfries and Galloway. The cottage is close to a lovely hotel should you fancy a meal or drink. We would thoroughly recommend this property and look forward to staying again.

Fabulous location, meticulously clean cottage, mudflats on the doorstep for watching wildlife with some pockets of sandy beach.

Host very thoughtful, neighbours also warm and welcoming! A very relaxing week (blessed with weather), thank you Julie for your excellent hospitality.

What a fantastic week at Powfoot, weather wasn't 100% but didn't matter.

Beautiful cottage with the most amazing view. Julie was extremely welcoming and made it clear that if we needed anything at all not to hesitate in contacting her, didn't need to, think she had thought of everything. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage, and certainly wouldn't hesitate in booking again!

We had a lovely Monday to Friday break in Powfoot.

Number 2 Whiterow far exceeded our expectations, was immaculately clean inside and out, and a very warm welcome from the owners. The location is amazing, beautiful sea views from the lounge and main bedroom windows, particularly when the tide is in. We were with our 2 teenage sons and we found the bungalow plenty big enough for the four of us. Powfoot is a lovely area and a great base to travel around from by car. Would definitely recommend it, and look forward to staying there again.

Right from the start, the cottage exceeded our expectations, photographs did not do it justice.

The interior was pristine and spacious, well laid out, with quality furnishings.Well equipped kitchen, with all we required for a weeks stay, including washing machine and dishwasher. Rear garden was large and nicely laid out, with new garden furniture [pity the weather didn't permit us to make more use of it!]. There are great views of the beach and Solway Firth from the living-room and main bedroom [very comfortable bed, in a large, spacious room].In the bathroom, there was a great walk-in shower, just the thing after being out walking in the fresh, bracing air! For those who need to keep in touch, the internet connection is excellent. The location of the cottage itself was the main attraction, a very picturesque row of whitewashed fishermen's cottages, with a huge expanse of sandy beach right on the doorstep. A very relaxing and invigorating week, couldn't recommend it highly enough. Finally, big thanks to Julie, our host, for a very genial welcome, immediately made us feel that we had picked the right place [... and the bottle of fizz went down well].5*.

This cottage feels like a real home from home.

Julie, the owner, was helpful when I phoned her before our arrival and also when I had a couple of questions while we were away. It was peaceful and warm and, despite the fact it rained a lot, a good base to set out from on a day trip. We went with our two children (4 and 2) and they loved sitting on the large windowsills and looking out onto the Solway Firth. The back garden with picnic bench was nice for them to play in but they had to be supervised at all times, as you can access the road by following the side of the house round. Although not too busy there is regular traffic going to the hotel and golf course. From the back you can see onto the neighbours’ cottages and back gardens - they were friendly and checked we were having a good time. There are large dogs next door which did bark quite a lot whenever we opened the back door and a few times some young boys on bikes were playing on the shared access road up the side of the house, so it didn’t always feel private when in the kitchen or accessing the garden. The beds are comfy and the house was spotlessly clean throughout. The wine and chocolates on arrival were a welcome touch. We had our shopping delivered on the evening we arrived, so didn’t need to find a supermarket. This was handy as there were not any small local shops in Powfoot that we found. There is a very small park/playground which was good for our children though, about a 15 minute walk away. You see the sign for it as you drive in to Powfoot. We could have done with a bit more info in the file about the house, such as when to put the bin out, but there were lots of leaflets about the local area. There isn’t much to do in Powfoot itself, other than to walk along the sand. It is not beachy sand, but clay-like... so you can’t build sandcastles on there. We drove to SandyHills, about an hour away, which was better for sandcastle building. We also drove to Threave Estate and gardens, about 50 mins away, which was lovely- as well as Gretna Green (it was all still closed up from Covid restrictions, even though the website didn’t say this!) and to Loch Mabel nature reserve for a walk and a picnic, so there is enough to do if you’re willing to drive there. The cottage is a great base from which to explore, but if you want things on your doorstep just to walk to, like a pub or a shops, then this is not the place for you. We have had a lovely week. We would visit again, simply for the cottage, knowing how lovely it is, but not necessarily for the location.

Fantastic cottage in a superb location.

Julie and Scott the owners had thought of everything. We were met by the owners who were extremely welcoming and helpful. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing break, the rooms are furnished to a very high standard. The view from the living room window across the Solway Firth is fantastic. Walking along the beach provides great views in a quiet location. The cottage is not far from Annan if you need to stock up and is within easy traveling distance of Dumfries. There are many local attractions to visit all set amongst beautiful countryside. If you are looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings this is perfect.
