Lovely spacious holiday cottage with amazing views.

The owner left a great welcome pack. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The only thing that wasn't so good was the comfort of the double bed in the front main bedroom, we could feel every spring in the mattress. Everything else was good

This was our second stay at Solway Firth View, we absolutely love the cottage the views and location are beautiful.

The cottage is spacious and has everything you need with the added bonus of a huge enclosed rear garden and off road parking. We would highly recommend a stay here.

The location was idilic and was extremely convenient for visiting family in the local area.

It was necessary to wash a as ll of the glasses, crockery and cutlery before using which was very disappointing at this price level. The Hive heating system was preset by the owners for coming in during very limited periods in the day, definitely not in line with the requirements of a stay during the final week of December. It was possible to boost the heating but this was only found through researching the Hive control options (this helped immensely). We did have the misfortune of breaking the glass jug which accompanied the filter coffee machine, in apology for the above the management company very kindly agreed to wave the cost for this, which was appreciated.

We had a fantastic stay in Solway Firth, we did have a few problems on the first night the last one was the oven not working however, on each occasion we contacted the owner the problems were sorted immediately.

A new cooker was even delivered the following day. The owner could not of been anymore helpful. He even left a bunch of flowers, box of chocolate and money as a goodwill gesture for us having to buy in a takeaway, we could not of asked for anymore. The location and the views from the property are fantastic, the cottage was very clean and comfortable. One of the best cottages we have stayed in and we are looking forward to a return visit.

We had a lovely stay at Solway Firth View, this cottage has fantastic views of Solway Firth from all the front windows, huge enclosed private garden and really nice welcome pack.

Great location and plenty of space with an enclosed garden.

Gated for extra security. There is a hole beside the washing line and wooden table which I went down. Could be dangerous as not noticeable. Rooms were a little stuffy but that was mainly due to how hot it was. Would definitely recommend

This is our 5th in 1 of the two cottages the owner has at Powfoot and as usual loved it and timed it right the lawn had been cut, only gripes the plug in small bathroom basin not working making it very difficult to wash and shave etc and the tv has a very annoying stipe down middle of screen.

See you again an September when we will be back the usual OAPS on Tour. Thank you once again to owner for a lovely holiday. K. Fisher

Had a great time at solway firth view.

Fabulous location. Cottage had everything we needed. Yes cottage needed a little tlc but this did not spoil our holiday. Very friendly place. Minute to the beach which the dogs and we loved. The garden is perfect for the dogs and fully enclosed. Would definitely return.

We had a very pleasant stay at this cottage.

The listing as Solway view is very accurate and the wonderful weather we had made it altogether even more enjoyable.We have no complaints and would love to return soon,Lord Raymond and Fiona Wood

We really enjoyed our stay at Solway Firth View but there were some health and safety concerns.

On arrival we discovered about 5 pieces of wooden arch tracing strewn in the garden with nails sticking out which we had to remove as we have a dog but fortunately no young children. Also, we discovered piles of dog hair and sand in between the sofa cushions when dogs aren’t allowed on the furniture! I do have to mention that the toaster didn’t work correctly which had been commented on a few months ago by a previous holidaymaker and the microwave was rusty. Also, the information pack needs updating as the contact given for any issues no longer works in that role! All these matters are fairly minor but do need addressing. We very much appreciated the arrival pack and the cottage was generally very comfortable and beautifully positioned and we would definitely stay again.

This was a family holiday, consisting of elderly parents with mobility issues so the one level accommodation was ideal, also our dog enjoyed the enclosed garden.

A generous welcome pack was provided for us and the owner was quick to respond to an enquiry during our stay. We really enjoyed the holiday, cottage was clean well equipped, warm and comfortable. Nearby friendly golf club, course excellent. View from the property was just as the name says "Solway Firth View" loverly, many thanks.

Lovely sized house with a great enclosed garden House needs some TLC Sofas were so uncomfortable and a leaking radiator in the kitchen which had been reported by the previous guests.

. house was covered in cobwebs which clearly had been there for a while.

Absolutely loved staying here at Solway Firth View.

It was very peaceful , warm and welcoming to both us and our dog. The garden was lovely and secure. Lots of homely touches. We would love to stay there again. The only reason for not giving 5 stars were a couple of maintenance jobs that needed attention, leaking radiator , missing front door keys and missing door handle in main bedroom.

Where to start.

After coming to powfoot for over 30 years this is the worst place we have stayed. The cottage is damp filled, we had to leave 2 days early as we felt it took unsafe to sleep in Each room was outdated, filthy cobwebs dust dirty carpets, wall, under the seats. The bathrooms both had mould, again indicative of damp problems, disgusted by air fresheners No dryer, on rainy days all to be had was radiators, making towels and clothing stink of damp. Spilt food from previous rentals found under cooker when sweeping. Airing cupboard which housed vacuum and mop, filthy, covered with dog hair. We have photos of all we have highlighted taken on our 2nd day Our holiday ruined and our budget. Terrible service from the owner, only contact was a cleaner who clearly doesn't do their job Complaint raised with Sykes on the Sunday 4th August, who said they'd contact the owner and still yet to hear back from them. Review left on trip advisor and intent to seek legal action Disgusting at best. We are NHS frontline staff, time together is rare and precious, we have a disabled child, so this should have been our safe, comfy, quiet space, ruined by the misrepresentation of a not so lovely cottage and sub standard service.

Whilst the property sleeps 6, it doesn't really accommodate 6.

The kitchen is too small to lay out 6 plates and the furniture in the lounge area is too small for 6 people. It is, mostly, all on one level, however there are some different height edges between the doorways and a step down to the main bedroom so may be unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems. The cottage is in a good location and there is a good sized garden which was secure for our dog. As noted by previous reviews it is on a well used path and there are a lot of people walking passed all day. We visited in June and it was a busy path, imagine it would be worse in the height of summer. Overall, it's a pleasant cottage but overpriced against similar cottages we have rented.

I would like to have given this property top marks, the setting and view certainly would deserve that.

However, the heating was inadequate - the bedrooms were freezing cold and the water temperature set too low so that the shower was cold, the cottage was dirty and needed a good spring clean, and there is rising damp in the master bedroom and adjacent bathroom.

Our second stay at this property and a beautiful area.

But the property is well overdue a update as its very tired inside. Also the phone number supplied on the site you get no response from. Phoned numerous times and left messages, but no reply.!.

Lovely and appreciated. Fab view and fantastic secure garden for dog....he would not come in. Two moans.... kitchen small even though we'll equipped.... missed a dishwasher. Came in and had to rewash all the cups as tea stained from previous holiday makers. Needs a dishwasher.!!!! Settees move as you sit down which causes you to grab something. Needs updating in certain points. However, thanks for the use of the holiday cottage. Much appreciated. All the best.

Lovely cottage great views,nice garden to relax in,maybe some comfortable garden chairs would be good.

Bedrooms very good size,kitchen a little small but had every thing we needed.Only annoying thing was the toilet cistern was running all the time we did report it but for the whole week it was constantly making a noise. But the cottage was great,garden was safely enclosed Powfoot is a lovely village, plenty of walks from the cottage. Would defiantly recommend and would stay again if returning to the area.

The cottage needs a good deep clean and needs decorating.

We also found it very cold as the radiators didn’t get very warm. Beautiful location though.

We (2ad and 4ch age 7-11) had a wonderful stay at this cottage.

From the pictures I wasn’t sure if it was two cottages side by side but it’s all the one cottage, so was a relief. Wonderful location, right on the beach. Great size garden, half of which is stoned incase you need to park the car. Dog hated the stones but luckily there was a path she could use to get to the grass lol. A washing line too which was fantastic. A nice view onto a field with horses too. The house inside was great, a brilliant size. The main bedroom was beautiful and spacious. The other bedrooms were great too. The kitchen, though small, was fine for our needs and had lots of utensils which was great. The house is situated on a path which leads to the beach so there are lots of people passing. This wouldn’t be a problem but our dog barks at people constantly so if I would’ve known, I may have avoided this property (glad I didn’t!) but just incase this is an issue for someone. We got cold at times, especially in the evening and at night. The heating is timed, so could do with a wee heater to use for the bedrooms, especially the main bedroom. Maybe some extra pillows and blankets too for us with no blood. The shower base filled quite quickly so may need looked at. The bath plug was hard to get out too…we used my sons plastic arrow set lol to stick to the plug then pull it out. Enjoyed a few baths. The beach is weird. I’m sure there is history regarding it. There are bouts of sand, dry and wet, severe muddy sand and loads of bricks and rocks. The kids just loved going for walks along the beach. We done it morning noon and night. Take a torch!! Maybe wellies or decent walking boots too. The only one downside was there is no local shop, so it was quite a trek to just get milk etc so stock up on supplies when you go to the supermarket. We would return in a heartbeat. The games in the cottage were great, I got halfway through a jigsaw! Just ideal, and thoroughly recommended.

Comfortable and clean cottage. Very friendly village with good food available at the nearby hotel.

Nice garden with good car parking and gates. Beautiful views and very comfortable. Only downsides are the very small kitchen and the light fitting in the passage which bangs the head of anyone over 6ft! Bottom line - we had a great stay in a wonderful cottage.

Lovely cottage in a fabulous location.

Ideal for our dog as the garden is very secure. Clean and well equipped. Sofas in lounge not super comfortable but ample seating for the accommodation. We had a lovely week and appreciate the preparations that were made for our arrival including a very generous welcome tray. We will definitely be booking again.

Whilst in a lovely location, the property was not cleaned to a reasonable standard.

There are issues with the toilet within the shower room (unable to flush without removing the cistern lid). The shower itself has a tile that is extremely loose, and using the shower would only make matters much worse. We attempted to contact the number given in the guest instruction book, several times, but the number was either wrong or switched off. We therefore contacted Sykes, but no feedback was given. The cottage needs a deep clean, and the shower room needs attention. If these issues were corrected, I would certainly come back to the cottage.

The property was very clean and very well equipped apart from maybe one thing.

We found the settee and chairs in the lounge quite uncomfortable. The area was lovely the views lovely. On the hole a very nice place to stay.

There was a warm welcome to the property for us all (treats for us and the dog) and the location did not disappoint.

A comfortable cottage with great views and a big, fully enclosed garden. Ample parking too. It was the perfect place to unwind with lots of walks straight from the door (lots of information about these and places further afield to visit in the info book provided). This was a genuinely dog (and people!) friendly cottage and we may well be back!

Lovely holiday, we were 2 couples of each side of 70 and a dog.

Lewi had a ball of a time in and out of the sea while we had a leisurely walk along the beach. The house was comfortable, although the back bedroom may need a new mattress soon, with a small but well equipped kitchen. Having 2 bathrooms was really good. The view from the front is great and the garden at the back was sunny and nice to sit out in the late afternoon. The village and the villagers are really friendly with home baking at the side of one house and a garage sale with lots of plants at another. The hotel is within walking distance and the food and staff are great. Dogs are not allowed inside but there are seating outside with fabulous views.

Cosy. Back garden ideal for pets and young children. An issue with garden bedroom electrical sockets not working below window. Having WiFi was a great boon. Will come back and will recommend.
