The property

Boasting a wealth of period features such as original beams, wood panelling, ornamental fireplaces and traditional feature windows, High Dyke Cottage near Cockermouth in Cumbria, is a simply stunning cottage dating back to the seventeenth century.

Walk through the front door and step back in time as the glorious traditional accommodation welcomes in visitors.

Take a seat in the warm and inviting sitting room complete with attractive woodburning stove, creating a real focal point to the room.

The farmhouse kitchen is equally appealing with another woodburning stove helping to add to the welcoming ambience.

You can imagine spending a lot of time while on holiday here in this space, where the designated chef can rustle up hearty food for the hungry travellers who can take a seat around the rustic dining table and enjoy long, leisurely meals together.

If the weather allows, the enclosed gardens are the perfect spot for everyone to gather and while children and pets can run around safely, the adults can recline in the patio area, maybe lighting the fire pit to take off the evening chill and look up at the starry skies and really relax into this Cumbrian idyll.

At bedtime, choose from one of two well-presented king-size bedrooms and a family shower room finishes the accommodation.

There is so much to see and do from the doorstep at High Dyke Cottage from local walks and trails as well as the famous Lake District which has something to offer everyone.

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
