Our second stay here, as its ideal for our little one.

Clean and tidy. Lots of upstairs space. The only little niggle was the very squeaky double bed and the stair gate doesn't have the attachments with it so you can't use it. Other than that, it's great

Lovely well equipped cottage ideally located to enjoy the Yorkshire dales.

Overall property was clean and welcoming - couple of things that would have improved rating - the small things go a long way - No kitchen roll - no handsoap in the bath room.

This is our 3rd stay at Anvil Barn, it's such a beautiful barn with everything you need and more, beautiful village with lots of beautiful walks from your doorstep, lovely, clean and extremely comfortable barn it's most definitely one of our favourites by far, thank you once again and we look forward to our next visit

The over detailed and over complicated instruction on how to find the property were useless.

So much so that a local in the village must have encountered lost visitors before and asked if I were looking for Anvil Barn. There is one very simple part of the address which is missing. If future guest simply enter "ScottsHill Bainbridge Leyburn" into their Sat.Nav. then the property is simply the second building on the right on entering the road. Anvil barn was comfortable enough with two bedrooms and bathroom, with bath and shower cubicle on the ground floor. Upstairs is all he living accomodation in a single large space. Upstairs is bright and airy, downstairs is cold and dark with cold flagstone flooring in the hall and bathroom. On my stay the toilet seat took some persuading to remain verticle and the cistern constantly leaked. The bathroom extractor fan comes on with the light as normal but never switches off unless manually with the isolator switch. The towel rail only heats up with the central heating - so in the summer -- damp towels. I resorted to using the washer/dryer to dry, which seemed rather wasteful. The kitchen was well equiped until it came to food prep. All the kitchen knives are extreamly dangerous as they're all blunt. Trying to slice a carrot with a bread knife (The only bareably usable knife because of the serations) was no fun. The cooker hood has very sharp corners and is at nose height for a 5'10" person. Head was banged a few times. Good sized fridge and freezer, log burner, table for four and two comfortable soffas. The TV has internet plugged in but this is (As far as I made out) for FreeSat only via another box. (Both have a remote with about 50 buttons on each!) It's not a smart TV so take a dongle or tablet/laptop if Netfix/Prime/Disney etc are your preferences. No phone network but the internet is good enough for streaming. Beware, unlike all other self catering establishments I've stayed in, especially with Sykes, there was no welcome pack. No pint of milk in the fridge. There wasn't even any soap to wash my hands with. Had to use shower gel then find a shop. 1 toilet roll was also a bit stingy too. Bainbridge is a wonderful locaton for some serious fell walking. Many routes are on hand and the car had very little use. There is a lmited bus service, every two hours or so to Hawes. The local map for Wensleydale and the area is OS Explorer OL30. Download to OS app onto the phone and get the boots on.

Clean, comfortable cottage in the pretty village of Bainbridge with a designated off road parking space.

Nicely situated for exploring the dales and there is a pleasant walk out along an old Roman Road and taking in Semerwater directly from Bainbridge - no car required. We frequented the small cafe in the village for afternoon tea - an added bonus. Although the picture looks like the cottage could front onto a “main” road, it is in fact a narrow road with little traffic and the location was quiet and peaceful.

I made a last minute decision to book my holiday and am so pleased that I did.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, facilities and equipment great, and the location brilliant for exploring and walking with my dog. Would highly recommend and hope to return one day soon.

Superb cottage right in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

You could not be better located to explore the Dales if you tried, all the local towns and villages, dramatic scenery, stunning views etc were just on the doorstep. Cottage was very clean and comfortable with parking included. Rose and Crown was a great local pub, with friendly staff and good food. Good walking area for dogs as well. Highly recommended.

Anvil barn was as expected from the description and the parking was fine.

The double bed was very comfortable and all furnishings perfect for the accommodation. All necessary information for electrical goods was easy to follow along with lots of local information. It suited our needs perfectly as we are of the older generation and downstairs bedrooms worked out really well.

Our second stop at Anvil Barn and again the cottage was well equipped and very clean.

Excellent location for walking and exploring the Dales. We enjoyed our stay very much.

A lovely warm, cosy cottage for a winter break.

The kitchen has everything you would need to cook up dinner. Large bathroom with a walk in shower, good quality linens too. Comfortable large sofa's round the log burner in the evening were most welcome. Don't visit the local pub it's so run down and the food very expensive...Kings Arms Askrigg is the place to go. The only negative feedback I can give is that the bedroom on the ground floor has an outside door which is next to the bed, a door curtain would make a huge difference by disguising it. A beautiful and comfortable cottage situated in an attractive village in the Yorkshire Dales.

The property has been tastefully restored and the furnishings and fittings are excellent. On our arrival we found the standard of cleanliness to be of the highest standard. We loved our stay and would consider booking again in the future.

Attractively and thoughtfully furnished property in a lovely, well located village which had every thing we needed.

Not really a problem but we found the duvets a bit too heavy for August. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and information from the owner about the local area was very helpful.

Once again we absolutely loved our stay, fully equipped, super comfortable beds, most definitely a favourite for us all and we can't wait to come again soon

A very comfortable stay in a superbly equipped property.

We have no hesitation at all in recommending Anvil Barn to friends and family. Ideally situated in a lovely quiet location. We would certainly like to re-visit in the future.

Beds very comfortable but the quilts are too small, barely cover the bed.

The property was clean, well maintained and as a family of three with a dog, suited our needs perfectly. Bainbridge is great for families with lovely walks to Askrigg and Aysgarth easily manageable and fun for children.

The bed was a little uncomfortable but this was minor in the overall comfort of the cottage.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful village, not a problem having no garden for the dog as the huge village green was a stones throw away Plenty of extra parking close by and many public footpaths from the village.

We absolutely loved our week at Anvil Barn, the cottage was really cosy and really well equipped.

We would like to book again for next year but the mattress on the double bed was so uncomfortable and didn’t even fit the frame properly. It really let the cottage down as the rest was brilliant.

5 put of 10 only thing that could be improved was the double mattress. It didn't fit the bed. Slipped down when sleeping in it.

The house is clean and cosy. we always enjoy staying here.

i think the basic structure is good it is clean and tidy but there are some issues with the bed and pillows.

they are showing their age as they are lumpy. the sharp knives are also blunt. Normally we would eat out more but with covid we cooked. the soft furnishings are the things that let it down. location is good and overall we enjoyed our holiday ( weather helped).

Upon arrival at Anvil Barn we were impressed with the barn and how very clean it was.

There was plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery, etc., it was well equipped for our stay. It is nicely decorated. If we do have any criticisms, it is that the kitchen tap is wobbly and probably could be replaced and the sofas in the sitting room are very low when you sit in them, for an older person or someone that suffers with a bad back then this might be an issue, however they are comfortable. The location is wonderful for a nice quiet holiday, Bainbridge is not huge, so no hustle and bustle of lots of tourists which is what we wanted. Anvil Barn is located in a great place to explore the dales, the lake district, York and Whitby. The local pub is a great place to meet some of the very friendly locals. We will return to Anvil Barn and have already recommended it to some of our friends.

Misleading description regarding cottage situation.

No garden back or front so nowhere to sit outside, such a disappointment on a nice summer evening.

This property is exactly what it says on the tin! A great base for exploring the dales . Great facilities, good village pub. Would stay again.

Our 2nd visit Anvil barn is a lovely spacious cottage in a fabulous location .

It’s great to have a lovely bath after a long walk . Kitchen has everything you need and the large fridge freezer is an added bonus. My only constructive feedback is that the mattress on the double bed is in need of replacement as we were rolling to the edge of the bed . However I would. still recommend this delightful cottage

The directions to find Anvil Barn were quite good, but it took us a bit of time to find it, as it is tucked away.

However we were very pleased with the accommodation. The area and village is lovely and it was well situated to get to other towns.

We all had a great week at anvil barn, it was a lovely barn and quirky with it's upside down layout, shame it had no garden but I could take the dog just up the road to a nice field, it certainly didn't stop us from enjoying our week.

Exceptionally clean. Plenty of utensils etc. The location is stunning.

This cottage is very well equipped and although the bedrooms are small there was lots of space to relax in the living area.

We didn’t miss WiFi but had we been their longer might have wanted it. Great location in the village and great access to walks.

the only reason I haven,t put exceeded expectations, is that mobile phone coverage in the village is very poor and the cottage doesn,t have WiFi.

that maybe a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your point of view. I thought it was great. ( the local pub has WiFi ). Both my wife and I thought the cottage was lovely and will certainly consider staying there again, the only real grumble we had was that there was no where to sit outside on some of those nice warm nights. It was only a problem because our dog had seriously cut her paw the day before we left for our holiday and was,nt allowed to walk more than a few yards, which is a bit of a blow on a walking holiday, we were all stir crazy by the end of the week. Bainbridge is a beautiful little village with a marvellous sense of community. There is only one pub in the village, the staff are very friendly and the food excellent, there is also a small café/bakery which is well worth a visit. they do a good range of sandwiches, ideal if you,re going off walking for the day. We are both looking forward to re visiting this area and exploring those places we saw but had to drive past.

An excellent standard of accomodation in a beautiful village in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales

We have had a really enjoyable time, my husband has some very fond memories of a lot of places on the dales.

He used to cycle with friends when he was in his late teens(he is now in his seventy’s) It was wonderful listening to him reminiscing about all the different places they went. There are so many wonderful places to go that we really didn’t have the time to see it all. The cottage had everything in it that anyone could possibly want. After a full day out it was good to know we were going back to a comfortable and clean cottage were we slept like logs and woke up ready for our next adventure in this beautiful place

An enjoyable stay with everything we needed, only minor inconvenience was the window in the side door in the double bedroom, it needs a blind on it to block out the light.

Lovely clean cottage in a nice village , pity about the local pub having two prices for the beer ,one for locals and one for holiday people .

The property is superb, very clean and has almost everything!

There are three points I think are worth noting; 1, The double bed mattress needs replacing it has completely sunk. This was the most frustrating issue we had during our stay as not getting a good night sleep is a real shame and not reflective of the quality overall. 2, The small door which leads outside in the main bedroom needs a curtain over it as there is a draft coming through this door. During our stay the weather was very cold and windy.... perhaps when the weather is warmer this wouldn’t be so much of an issue. 3, If you take a dog it isn’t the most practical location as there isn’t a garden. Overall this is a superb holiday home, we had an amazing stay the village of Bainbridge is stunning.... the local pub Rose and Crown is friendly and serves ok food (not the cleanest of places) but there are many great places to eat nearby.
