Our second visit to this lovely cottage and it won’t be the last.
The location is nothing less than perfect, as is the quality of the accommodation. After a day’s walking (soaking wet on one day!) the cottage is warm, comfortable, welcoming and peaceful.
This was our third visit to Stone Mouse Cottage and all being well, it won't be the last.
Danny & Janet (the owners) put 110% into making trips to the Ribble Valley and their cottage so special. Janet's attention to detail is evident everywhere, starting with a delicious moist lemon drizzle cake on arrival, to a bottle of (this year) an excellent Portuguese red wine for dinner ! New settees and a large foot stool were delivered in our week there, complementing an already attractive warm and comfortable seating area from which to take in the hillside views. The visitors book, with many repeated visits, tells the whole story,
This was our second visit and won't be our last if we have anything to do with it.
The cottage is excellent. The hosts friendly, helpful and considerate. We just loved being there. As did our friends.

Everything was so clean and comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. The views out of the sliding glass doors,or I might say glass wall ....we're gorgeous. I saw sheep grazing and lambs dancing which was such a joy. The gardens were very well designed and attended and the bird feeder brought the birds to the garden close to the patio,so easy viewing. Stunning cottage and location.

We found Stone Mouse to be a perfect holiday for us.
Located in the countryside with no traffic noise, only the wild life. It was tip top clean and perfectly maintained. Danny and Janet perfect hosts and Bob the dog was a star.

The cottage was absolutely wonderful with spectacular views over the countryside from the large patio windows.
The kitchen was equipoped with everything you could need and there was even a freezer under a car port area where you could put food if you were self-catering. The whole area is lovely and we will certainly be looking to go back and would definitely use this cottage again if it were available.
This place is everything we hope a holiday property will be, but very rarely is.
Attention to detail is outstanding, and the house is spotlessly maintained. Location feels much more remote than it actually is, if that makes sense. Perfect for a few days away from it all.

The cottage is in perfect order, clean and with everything you could want. Nice and warm. The patio and the garden would be pleasant in good weather, but not for our January visit. Janet and Danny make you feel welcome without being intrusive. We wanted a week away, and didn't intend to do much, so this was just right.

It is beautiful. The owners (Janet and Dan) are very friendly and helpful, but respectful of your privacy. Janet and Dan provided a lovely 'welcome pack', including an excellent homemade lemon drizzle cake! The cottage is stylish, very comfortable and well equipped. It is ideally situated for walks and trips out in the Forest of Bowland and The Yorkshire Dales, each having many walking routes of varying ability. There are numerous pubs around the area offering excellent food, including The Coach and Horses, The Rum Fox and the The Inn at Whitewell, to name but a few. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is superb - so quiet, with far reaching views, and an ideal spot for all the amazing walks in the Ribble Valley. The accommodation itself is so welcoming, comfortable, really well equipped and a pleasure to come back to each day. We were reluctant to leave and will definitely come back!

The cottage itself is extremely well decorated and the furniture very comfortable. The owners Danny and Janet have thought of everything to ensure the cottage is indeed a home from home. The cottage is in an idyllic setting and we have thoroughly enjoyed the scenic views,watching birds, rabbits and deer. There are a variety of good local pubs and restaurants nearby which we were pleased to sample. All in all a lovely week. Our thanks to our hosts for their hospitality and welcome pack.

Comfortable, well equipped, peaceful, lovely view, considerate owners. No wonder it gets so many repeat bookings. We wil be another such. I have restricted mobility and found the bed was easy to get in and out of. The shower has a very slight step. One step to enter the house and then level.

We were made very welcome by the owners who live across the yard. You can walk onto the hills right from the cottage door. Lots of options for eating and drinking within a few miles drive. Possibly one of the best equipped cottages we have ever stayed at.

This property should be in its own category, with 6 sykes rating. It is perfect. The surroundings, the cleanliness, comfort and high class decor and equipment all helped make our week, relaxing, comfortable and peaceful. We are 2 couples, who use Sykes at least 3 times a year. Perfect cottage in a location that you don't have too far to travel for great walks and towns with plenty of local produce.

Facilities excellent, attention to detail excellent. location excellent, warm welcome from owners who live adjacent to Stone Mouse, and a HUGE picture window that overlooks the garden & the hills beyond. This is a special place that I can't fault.

Everything you could wish for and want is available to hand even down to the little things. Wonderful surprise when we arrived was the lemon drizzle cake and bottle of wine, both of which went down nicely. Janet and Danny were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. Loved the fact it was a working farm and could see things going on during the day but also appreciate the stunning surroundings. Totally peaceful and quiet but a short drive out you could find great places to visit too, such as Clitheroe, Settle, Holden Clough nurseries as well as Shackletons. The people in the areas we visited were so chatty and welcoming too. All in all the perfect stay in the perfect places!
Stone Mouse Cottage is an excellent cottage in a stunning location.
It is of a very high standard and was very clean plus the homemade lemon drizzle cake and bottle of wine were delicious! The owners were very pleasant and were there if you needed them but were not intrusive in any way. All in all, we had a great time and didn't want to leave!

Stonemouse Cottage is a real find, the holiday cottage you dream of. It is clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped and has a view to die for. The area is delightful, excellent walking and so peaceful. We booked for next year before we came home and can hardly wait. The owners are helpful and friendly but never intrusive.

Really comfortable and well equipped cottage.
Very interesting location attached to a working hill farm where there was coming and going of cattle and sheep. You could easily lose yourself for some time watching the sheep dog at work.
Stonemouse Cottage is a lovely cottage, in a beautiful part of the country.
We loved watching the birds feeding in the back garden, and the views over the fields. The cottage is very well equipped, and as it is all on one level, it was very suitable for the 94 year old member of our party. The owners made us very welcome and we had a wonderful holiday.

The cottage and the views were stunning.
Stone Mouse cottage was warm, cosy and felt very homely. The finishing touches were amazing. The welcome of a lovely bottle of wine and lemon drizzle cake was wonderful. Our hosts were very friendly and was there should we need them, we had a problem with our car on the way and was expecting a food delivery, they let him in and sorted out our fridge and freezer items. That was so helpful especially after such a stressful journey. The area is wonderful and would like to return here but they have stopped allowing dogs which is such a shame. Thank you again for such an amazing break away.

The cottage was lovely inside and very tastefully furnished.
Everything was good quality, especially the large white fluffy towels and the gorgeous white cotton bedding. The view was absolutely fantastic, we looked forward to getting back to it each day. The cottage is next to the farmyard and it was so impressive to see Zip the sheepdog working. We saw woodpeckers and bats and the garden is full of small birds singing and we heard the owls nightly and the cockerel in the morning. To us it was all bliss.
This was our 6th visit to this cottage, it is quiet with good views, well equipped and the owners and their dog are very friendly.

This time we have used the cottage more due to Covid restrictions and has everything required to provide for 4 people and a dog. The property is very well kept and is clean and warm thanks to the hosts Janet and Danny. If you are lucky with the weather then you are based in some great walking territory with fabulous views on your doorstep.

The cottage was extremely clean and comfortable and the owners, who live next door, very helpful and friendly. There was a lovely homemade cake, milk and a bottle of wine to welcome us on arrival. The cottage was very well equipped. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. Lots of local information was provided, especially re walks in the area. There is a pretty garden and we were visited by a woodpecker on the bird feeder every morning. The view from the patio window was gorgeous. Great lengths had been gone to to ensure the cottage was Covid safe. Overall a beautiful peaceful place. You do need a car as there are no shops or pubs in the hamlet. There are walks from the door but it is very muddy in October! We would definitely recommend stone mouse cottage

Stone Mouse cottage is perfect in every respect.
Superb accommodation with so much thought given to providing every conceivable need for a great stay. The Bowland location is hard to beat as this area of England still manages to avoid the crowds and traffic. Wonderful wild fells and lush valleys with many lovely unspoilt villages. Foodies are also well catered for with a plethora of good pubs and restaurants within easy reach.

The owners were very nice and friendly, the scones, jam, cream, milk and wine were very welcome and very nice. The view across the lovely garden was so nice and peaceful it added to the tranquillity of the whole place. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone. Thank you to the owners it was great.

The cottage was beautiful and the huge windows overlooking the garden and fields beyond made you feel as if you were outside.
The two bathrooms were a plus. A mobile phone was provided for those of us not getting a signal with our own. Scones and cream for a cream tea, and a bottle of wine were a nice welcome. All in all, one of the best cottages we've stayed in.

The garden area was very well maintained with wonderful views over the surrounding hill. We are looking forward to staying there again and taking in the beautiful scenery.
This is the 7th year we have stayed at Stone mouse Cottage, and it was still as lovely as our very first visit!
The attention to detail by the owners Janet and Danny is fabulous, we can't think of anything else we could possibly require to make our stay any more perfect. The location is wonderful, you don't even need to move from the comfortable sofas to enjoy the view or to watch the sheep and lambs grazing, the vast variety of birds visiting the feeders, or even the odd deer pass by! Luckily we are staying again in November, can't wait!

The finishing personal touches made by Janet and the sincere welcome I was given, everything aimed at helping me cope with walking difficulties, so very much appreciated because it was unexpected.
The setting of Stone Mouse cottage - on a working farm - gave me extra interest at all times without any disruption. The binoculars provided enabled me to watch cows, sheep and deer. The bird feeders made sure there was always some to watch flying around the delightful garden. Nothing was too much trouble to Janet and Danny to make the cottage a perfect place to relax amid the beautiful countryside, but let me stress that there are plenty of activities possible if you are lucky enough to be able bodied !
The owners of the cottage live oposite on their farm and are extremely helpful with places to eat, walks etc and are only too happy to help.
The cottage is one of the best we have stayed in. It has everything you need in it and more ie extra toiletries in each bathroom, plenty white fluffy towels and slippers. Hair dryers in the drawer, things you would normally find in a hotel than in a cottage. Immaculate throughout. Views are fantastic with a huge picture window looking out into the fields which is to die for and can be opened all the way and you can step out onto the decking to enjoy the view, totally enclosed which was good as we have a dog, Would recommed this cottage to both pet owners and also non pet owners!!

Exactly as described on your site, it has everything you need for a perfect holiday. It is beautifully furnished, and maintained to a very high standard, the beds are certainly the most comfortable we have slept in in a holiday cottage (and we have slept in many over the years). The location on a sheep farm could not be more perfect, it's hard to tear yourself away from the view, you can sit on the comfortable sofas and watch the new born lambs playing in the fields right at the bottom of the garden, or watch the constant stream of various birds coming to the feeders. This visit we were able watch six deer that came into one of the fields most mornings, a lovely sight! We love to walk down the lane or across the fields, the surrounding countryside is stunning, the whole place is a nature lovers paradise! The owners are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet, they both work extremely hard on their farm from early morning till late at night (even through the night this busy time of year on a sheep farm) and yet they are always cheerful and friendly, we never fail to be in awe of them! Sincere thanks again to them both for creating such a lovely cottage, and allowing us to spend time in such a beautiful place!

This cottage was perfect for our needs, very clean and well maintained. One of the best cottages I've ever stayed in!
Perfect Christmas in Stone Mouse Cottage The first time we stayed in this gorgeous cottage in 2014 we knew we wanted to spend a Christmas here and so we booked for this year.
We had exactly the Christmas we wanted and needed after a stressful year. It was so great walking though the door knowing everything would be lovely, clean and so cosy and of course we were not disappointed thank you Janet and Danny. As always there was a welcome pack mince pies as well as scones! Everything inside the cottage is set up for your comfort, the beds are lovely, the linen is luxurious and then there is the view. We cooked some lovely meals thanks to the well set up kitchen and sat and watched the every changing sky. We did go and have lunch in the newly renovated village pub - The Coach and Horses in Bolton by Bowland which was nice, we also did some new walks which we enjoyed but mainly we just chilled. It snowed heavily on our last day and we did not want to leave but we had too but hopefully we will be back soon. Thanks for our perfect Christmas
This was my fourth time booking with Sykes cottages, and indeed the fourth time I've stayed at Stonemouse Cottage, I would not hesitate to recommend Sykes to my friends, and I would highly recommend Stonemouse Cottage, this is the best cottage I have ever stayed in, the welcome pack is amazing, and the owners of the cottage who live opposite are just two of the most lovely people you could ever meet, the attention to detail of everything in the cottage is spot on, the views from the windows are stunning, it's so peaceful, but also a short drive to pubs, shops etc.
I am lucky enough to be going again next year, it's my sister in law whose booked it this time and I can't really wait, thank you Janet and Daniel for making our stay so lovely, and thanks Sykes for having such a top notch cottage on you're books, you have one very happy customer here!

What more can be said about the cottage. If you are looking for luxury accommodation in the Clithero area then stop looking this is the best place. The cottage has everything you need for a very comfortable stay.
I had never experienced the 'wow factor' effect until I walked into Stone Mouse Cottage - it more than exceeded expectation.
Beautifully furnished, well equipped, spacious, spotlessly clean and located in stunning countryside. The owners went more than the extra mile to ensure that everything was 'just right' - nothing was too much trouble. I could continue to wax lyrical, but all the superlatives have been expressed by earlier reviewers. So, pack your bags and go and discover this Forest of Bowland 'gem' of a property for yourself. You won't regret it!
This is our second visit to Stone Mouse Cottage We cannot begin to tell you what a lovely place it is to spend some down time.
The cottage is 5star + the inventory lacks nothing. The quality of all the linens is top notch. No fault could be found, Janet and Danial were perfect hosts and we would recommend this property to anyone looking for comfort and perfection.
