"We absolutely loved Miss Burrow’s House."
Beautifully furnished to a high standard and well equipped. We loved the fact that while there was plenty of interesting decor in the house, there was lots of places for us to put our own belongings during our stay. We loved reading about the history too. A bench outside the back door would have been nice to catch the final rays of sun, although that may not be possible due to access issues. The cottage is a ten minute walk from Hawes town with its many pubs and shops. The White Hart Inn serves fabulous food, although a little on the expensive side. The only real issue for us with the cottage was the parking. We had expected it to be near the cottage and it wasn’t, it was a 3 - 4 minute walk away and we did not like having to leave our car out of sight on an industrial estate. I think it would be helpful if the listing clarified this and also the arrangements for unloading/loading luggage. The other minor annoyances was that the shower head would not stay up on the riser and the bin was full to the brim on our arrival and not emptied during our stay. Overall though, this cottage is fabulous.

"We loved our Easter holiday at Miss Burrow's House."
We travelled there via the Settle to Carlisle railway with a bus connection at Garsdale to Hawes. The house is very easy to find, a 10 mins walk from Hawes centre. It is a beautifully restored Victorian home; Miss Burrow would approve! We loved the large kitchen/dining area with gorgeous stone floor and had some cosy dinners around the large table. Thank you for the welcome bottle of wine! The front lounge has amazing views over the fields and we spent evenings watching the sheep, lambs, ducks and hares running around! The beds were very comfy and if you sleep at the back of the house, you will hear the owls hoot most nights. Perfect bathroom, so warm and spacious. Hawes is such a great little town - so many lovely shops for food if you cook in. We did many walks from the front door; to Hardraw, Bainbridge, Askrigg, up Yorburgh hill. We would absolutely recommend Miss Burrow's House and Hawes; we returned home relaxed and refreshed after our week's stay. Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed your stay. We love the house and its history and so it always nice to hear other people love it too. Sounds like you made the most of your visit! We hope to welcome you back soon. Carol and Euan

"The cottage is perfectly located and accessible to Hawes also with great views of the Fells."
Cottage had everything we needed with some thoughtful extra touches. Prior to arrival the only question we had was that of parking . However our concerns were unfounded as we were able to park in a nearby road only minutes from the cottage .
Thank you for the kind comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay.

"Miss Burrows is a beautiful and cosy house to stay in."
The furnishings are lovely and master bedroom is gorgeous.
Beautiful views from the lounge and bedrooms and spotted many breeds of birds in the garden. Great location for all our favourite walks around the area.
The beds were comfortable but we did find the pillows a little too firm for us and woke up with a aching neck most mornings.
Kitchen prepartion area is a little dark and could benefit from some additional lighting , the dining area was much brighter..plenty of crockery housed in a lovely modern pantry dresser.
We didn't use the fire or woodburner as heating was sufficent with the mild weather. However an honesty box for a very sparse starter pack of kindling and logs was a little bizarre. Of all the many houses we have stayed in the Hawes area a much more generous pack is usually supplied in the cost of the rental.
I did look but was unsuccessful in finding a vacuum , it may have been in one of the many locked cupboards but would have been handy , especially as I personally like to just whizz it around the morning we are leaving .
We would definatley stay at Miss Burrows again it is a lovely house.
Thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed your stay and glad you look forward to another stay. We love staying in our cosy Victorian home in the dales as much as you did. Sorry you couldn’t find a pillow across the different beds to suit your needs, we do also have some spares available in the wardrobe. As we provide quite an extensive guest and pet welcome pack, we only provide sufficient supplies for one fire - as you have said the house is warm and many guests do not use the fire and wood burner. For the use of guests we have a vacuum cleaner available in the main bedroom cupboard.

"Lovely cottage in a superb location."
Very comfortable and extremely well appointed. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the guest folder very useful. We had a great holiday.
Wasn't sure what to recycle and where as recycling varies so much across the country. Perhaps a note in the folder would help.
We came into Hawes from Hardraw due to an A684 diversion and I wasn't entirely sure where the property and access was. Perhaps a little more explanation in the joining instructions to identify the access to the rear of the property between the cottages and the sheds.
Tried to get hold of the housekeeper to get advice on the recycling but the phone went to voicemail and the calls were not returned. Eventually managed it via a text as he's was away for a couple of days but. might be useful if that number could be transferred in the event of any major problem.
I noticed that the lead flashing above the right hand side of the sitting room bay window had slipped forward. I suspect that if left, there will be the possibility of water ingress and damage.
Thank you for a lovely time.

Thank you for the lovely feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. Information about recycling is in the guest folder and a bin is provided in the sink cupboard. A list of normal and recycling bin days is displayed on the door onto the porch.

"The property had everything that was needed for a holiday exploring the Dales - the furnishings were comfortable and were in keeping with the property and area."
Hawes center was about a 5 minutes walk, with all facilities at hand. Walks and hikes were also nearby so the car was not always needed. Great scenery to watch from dawn to dusk. Car parking nearby, unloading and loading the car was straight forward as short term parking space available. Great property, area and restful break!
Thank you for the wonderful feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay at Miss Burrow’s. We hope to welcome you back soon. Best wishes Carol and Euan.

"The property was beautifully and thoughtfully prepared for guests, the welcome pack an unexpected pleasure, thankyou."
We loved our stay and could tell the owners had put so much thought into the house to make it a home from home.
The only downside was the single beds in the twin room were not comfortable (son & wife stayed for 2 nights before returning abroad) and one of the duvets was really badly stained as I discovered when I stripped the beds. Also blankets covered in dog hairs were on the lounge chair (we are pet free).
So only small things but I would want to know if it was mine.
Please feel free to publish the first part of this review and keep the ‘negative’ comments solely for information as I would not want to prevent others from booking this lovely place.

"An amazing gem of a property."
Beautiful cottage in an amazing part of the world- we were a family of 5 plus our pooch and so many things to see and do in the area we didn’t move our car for 3 days.
The house had everything you could possibly need, the owners had obviously taken a lot of time to think about supporting families, including lots of games, and dog friendly too. The little welcome pack was so nice after a long journey. The view from the living room was everyone’s favourite (including our dog) and there was a rush in a morning to get ‘the chair’ before anyone else to watch the lambs each day.
Only small tip is parking is a short walk away, about a minute, but you can pull up outside to unload- this proved very tricky when there’s a car parked next door in driving back out.
Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone with a family who wants a relaxing time away in the Dales. We hope to be back soon. Thank you for letting us stay!

Very clean and well presented and one of the very best holiday properties we have stayed in.
Lovely area to visit and one we intend to come back too.

"Wonderful location and the house had everything we needed and more to make our stay perfect."
The welcome pack and the extras in the fridge were really appreciated. A beautiful home where a lot of thought has gone into the decoration. In our opinion, this property is top of the list of those we have stayed in and we fully intend on returning. We went there with our family and dogs to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary and it certainly felt very special.
