Nice cottage in a great location for walking and visiting this area of Yorkshire.

Lovely cottage, hidden away in the village of Buckden.

The cottage is well presented, spotless inside, and comfortably furnished. Fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of room, so meals were easy to prepare. Very quiet location. Buckden itself is a small Dales village, there's no shop, the nearest is four miles away in Kettlewell, so I would advise planning your shopping beforehand. The Buck has excellent food though, and I highly recommend a visit. There's plenty of walking straight from the door, with both high level and low level routes available. Lots of other activities in the area, Hawes is half an hour away, and the Bolton Abbey estate is also well within reach.

The cottage was lovely and cosy, especially considering the very chilly weather we had!

It had everything we needed, the beds were very comfy and we all slept well. And it was set in beautiful surroundings!

Lovely, comfortable cottage in a great village and well situatedfor many walks.

Good sized kitchen, well stocked. Didn't use the log burner as it was warm enough, and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was nice. There's very little room to park in the village or by the cottage, so took the advice to park in the large car park nearby. It's £20 for the week but you can park for free in other YDNP car parks. The villagers put on a bonfire on the village green which was nice little bonus!

Very nice cotage on a lovely location.

Nothing extra needed. Building could use some TLC (paint etc.) but it's a very damp part of the UK (?). :) We loved it.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dale Head Cottage.

It was very quiet and homely and have everything that we could posiibly need. The perfect base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

The cottage is in a great location and we only moved the car twice during our weeks stay. Fabulous walks on the door step. The sun shone and we sat in the garden which is lovely and well maintained. The cottage is very old and has an intersting history, but it is very comfortable and is well stcoked for self catering. The TV was easy to use and we would definately return if in the area. The Buck Inn is a lovely pub just nextdoor.

A nice little cottage with a lovely garden with ongoing crows-concert in spring (we loved it).

The kitchen is quite well equiped but definately lacks enough pans (!). The bed was comfortable and clean, although the duvet was extremely wrinkled, as if not ironed for years. Woodblocks for the stove were present but kindlewood unfortunately not... The TV set is modern and offers many channels. In general the cleanlyness was okay, exept for the windows which we cleaned ourselves, just to know what the weather was like (hahah). Some more towels would have been nice for a whole week.

My friend & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, an ideal place for many wonderful walks & good pub food.

We were fortunate with the weather & climbed high enjoying views of both Wensleydale & Wharfedale. The cottage was comfortable & the garden added to its charm. A few minor issues which were soon resolved, will definitely be coming again.

A lovely cottage in the middle of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

It's equipped with everything you need and has the most gorgeous garden to sit in and relax. There are walks right from the doorstep. The only thing guests really need to be aware of is that the bathroom is downstairs and the furthest away from the bedrooms (which are upstairs) that it could possibly be. That's not really an issue - but it's worth knowing, especially for guests who might already struggle a little with mobility.

The location is outstanding.

So good for hiking. Having the shop nearby and a pub to eat very close meant we had several days not using the car at all. Daytrips to Malham and Skipton were lovely.

Excellent week away, cottage was very comfortable and warm.

Well equipped, very clean and tidy. Car parking was a stones throw away and at £17.50 for a weekly ticket, which can also be used at other National Trust car parks, makes it good value for money.

Really enjoyed our stay at Dale Head Cottage.

It is ideally situated for plenty of walks in the surrounding area. The Buck Inn (75 metres from the cottage) provides excellent food and beer, as does the Queens Arms in Litton. We parked on the Yorkshire Dales car park for the week (even though there was potential to park close to the cottage), which cost £17.50. For this cost you park in any one of the 10 Yorkshire Dales car parks. We managed to visit eight of the car parks! We spent one day visiting local waterfalls. Hardraw Force is definitely worth a visit, even though there is a charge of £4 per person. Take cash to Hardraw Force as it is not always possible to use a credit/debit card. Thank you to Julian and Anne for allowing us to stay at Dale Head Cottage.

A well equipped cottage, good pots and pans etc. Fabulous walks from the back door, interesting selection of books, lovely outdoor space. A place to feel comfortable and relax in , made for a very contented break.

We were not aware that we had to park in a pay and display car park at a cost of £17 50 for the week

The cottage is in an excellent position for walking locally, without using the car and I very much liked the accommodation and the view over the dale.

It is very likely that I will try to book this cottage again sometime

Nice little cottage idea for a bace for some one who likes walking are just to get away for a bit of peace & quiet well equipped just needs hot water pressure sorting as it takes a while to come through & get warm there also needs to be instructions on how to use the storage radiators are charging them for something that you only need to use in individual rooms yours sincerely mr Winstanley

The Cottage was hard to find as the post code puts it at the Buck Inn Pub, not behand the Village shop, Small Map required.

First impressions where good, A welcome pack would have been appreciated with the following, Something to make a hot drink, The Village shop closes at 3PM Instruction on how to log inn to Wi-Fi, (as no Info on Boxes) Instruction on how to turn heating on in the cold bathroom. A Handrail to help access to bath for us older persons There is a extract fan at the top of the stairs outside of the bedroom door, this runs 24/7 This makes it hard the go to sleep, could it be put on a timer so it stops between say 11pm to 8am. Overall we enjoyed our visit to this Yorkshire dale, good lunch at the Fox & Hounds at Starbotton, and The George at Hubberholme, You have to book at the White Lion inn and its a bit on the expensive side for lunch

Nice property perfect for 2, ideal walking area, beautiful countryside really is the best of the Yorkshire dales.

The only issue seems a problem getting free sat on the tv sometimes it came on straight away other times it took much longer, could be the remote power button for the box.

A clean, cosy, warm, comfortable and well equipped cottage.

For 15 pound a week you can park at the big car park near the cottage and many other car parks to make beautiful walks. We enjoyed our stay and were lucky with dry and sunny weather.

Good location.

Clean. Cold downstairs. Hot upstairs. Noise upstairs seems to be on all the time. Uncomfortable bed. No hot water in kitchen tap.

Cleanliness could have been better.

Heating system did not work, cottage was cold. Front door let draught in. Great location. Won't use this cottage again because of the cold.

A very cosy and warm cottage with excellent supplies of everything you could need.

Except perhaps a welcoming tea bag. Good location with walks from the door. Not easy to find and the parking wasn't easy at the weekend as the party staying opposite in the barn had five cars and a van.it was fine once they had gone An idiots guide to the TV would have been useful. I never did find live tv channels and spent a lot of time trying. The bath was quite high and I have a slightly dodgy knee so getting in and out of the shower was tricky as there was nothing to hold on to. However I very much enjoyed my stay. An excellent location with a good pub round the corner. A pleasant outside sitting area, comfortable seating and beds. I will certainly think about returning.

Beautiful cottage in a great location.

Had a fabulous stay in December 2021.

The cottage is the perfect size for a couple and in an ideal location. It was well equipped with everything that we needed for our stay. The only minor issue for us was the heating... even with the storage heaters turned up full the cottage was cold, not too bad in the lounge as we used the log burner but certainly on the stairs and in the bedroom. It would have been nice to have had a weeks supply of logs, then the burner could have been lite for longer and this would have helped to warmed the cottage. We have already recommended the cottage to friends and family and will definitely return for another stay.

Great location for a relaxing walking holiday.

The cottage was very clean and had a well equipped kitchen. Second bedroom may be a bit cramped for two adults but it was fine for our needs.

Lovely cottage, with everything you'd need and within walking distance to four pubs (one literally just around the corner).

Dale Head Cottage is in a great position in a lovely village.

The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. It is possible to go for walks from the cottage which we really enjoyed. We would love to come back.
