"Fantastic house, great location and spotlessly clean."
Given that we spent a week here in November the house was lovely and warm. Loved the small touches such as the milk in the fridge and the lemon drizzle cake.

"Very cosy and well looked after accommodation within a few minutes walk of town centre."
Comfortable beds. One parking space in front of the house and lots nearby. Perfect for 4 people, 6 would be a bit tight in the kitchen. Mind you there are two excellent pub restaurants, the Black Bull and the Dalesman so I would definitely recommend eating out. We would definitely book again.

It would have been a nice touch to have provided some Christmas decorations in the living room as our stay was over the festive period. Other than that we were happy with the cottage. Thank you.
Thank you for your feedback which has been noted and will improve this for the festive period next year.

It would be useful to have information about recycling. We took ours to the carpark in the Main Street.

"The cottage is in a good location just a short walk from Sedbergh."
There are lots of places to visit nearby all within reasonable driving distance.
The property description is slightly misleading as it also includes the property next door in the initial photo so overall it was smaller than we anticipated. The lack of outdoor space was not an issue for us and we knew this before booking.
We had read on some reviews that people were given a welcome pack but we did not receive one on our recent visit. There were 3 packs of rather sad looking hotel biscuits in the kitchen hamper but nothing else.
We presumed there would be a freezer of some sort in the kitchen but that’s not the case. That’s a basic for any kitchen but there wasn’t even a freezer box in the fridge. The kitchen itself is OK for 4 people but it would be very tight for 6 eating in there.
The top floor bedrooms had no heating during our stay and despite us reporting this and being assured somebody would call to look into it, nobody turned up. We left the key in the key-safe every day as requested. Whilst the weather was OK it needed some heating on, so this was not pleasant as the radiators were literally stone cold. It’s like they weren’t even connected to the boiler. It was very disappointing to be told it was going to be attended to and for that not to happen without even a call back.
The bathroom configuration did not work for us as both bathrooms are on the 1st floor meaning those staying on the 2nd floor had to come down a floor to use the facilities. That may not sound like too much of an issue but the stairs are really steep and narrow. They need more grab rails or ropes on the stairs to make them more secure as losing your footing is not difficult.
Dear David, thank you for your feedback and we are very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We are always looking to make improvements where we can and have taken your comments on board. We do hope you still enjoyed your stay overall.

"Comfortable and clean cottage."
Beds were very comfortable after a day on the surrounding hills. Kitchen was well equipped and the hamper of wine, crisps and biscuits was wonderful to arrive to! We had no problem parking directly outside the cottage. Location was quiet and we loved hearing the brook at the back.
We ate at the Black Bull and thoroughly recommend the beef pie.
We'd happily return to this cottage, it really felt like a home and we left very relaxed.

"A lovely cosy cottage in an excellent position."
Suited 4 of us very well. The small kitchen/ dining area would make it quite a squeeze for 6. House was comfortably furnished and warm. Wet walking gear dried quickly ..there is no specific drying area but there are coat hooks in living room.
Lots to see and do within easy reach and Sedbergh has good facilities for a small town.

"We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every moment."
The cottage was lovely and had everything in it you could wish for. It was in a great location and we loved exploring all the local amenities as well as going further afield. We enjoyed walking the fells then coming back to our lovely cosy cottage each evening. We really loved the owners guide that was sent to us before our stay and thought the recommendations were great. It is in a perfect spot to explore the Yorkshire Dales as well as the Lake District. We tried out most of the local restaurants, coffee shops and shops and had a really friendly welcome wherever we went. I would absolutely recommend staying in this cottage, it’s a perfect place for a family get together in a beautiful part of the world.
Thanks so much for your kind review, we are glad you had a great stay! We look forward to seeing you again!

"We very much enjoyed our stay in the cottage."
It was very comfortable and well equipped, and has a great location on the edge of the town. Fantastic walking and cycling from the doorstep! The only drawback was the lack of any outside space, since it fronts onto the road and the stream is directly against the rear wall. We had to keep our bikes inside and that was fine us, but might be more of an issue for others. Space for eating was also a bit limited. It was fine for 4 people but would have been more cramped if there had been 6 of us at the same time.
Thanks for your helpful feedback, we have made the listing a little clearer and made a nice seating space at the front to help others since your visit.

"Beautiful cottage we felt comfortable as soon as we walked in."
Had everything we needed for a 4 night stay it was so clean and the rooms upstairs were alot bigger than expected and so tastefully decorated.
Only thing I would suggest is that the listing should say there is an iron and ironing board in the cottage, we took our iron with us unnecessarily. And lack of recycling bin? Also listing wasn't clear that there was nowere to sit outside at the property there is no garden or yard.
Absolutely loved our stay there. Would definitely recommend.
Thanks for your helpful feedback it helps us improve. We've sorted these points and made an outside space to sit at the front of the house.

"Beautiful area with lovely walks from the house."
The house is well equipped but I found the potato peeler tricky to use. You need to be fit to carry luggage up the stairs. The rubbish bin went missing which concerned us. I hope it doesn't cause the owners too much hassle to replace. We did our best with taking cardboard, bottles and plastic waste to the recycling bins at the car park. We did enjoy our family get together very much.

"We had a lovely stay in this cottage - it was clean, had great facilities but was still a beautiful, tastefully refurbished , quirky old building."
It was within walking distance of the town of Sedbergh but it was far enough away to be quiet in the evenings. Amazingly comfortable beds! Great showers! Lots of walks nearby, lots of things to do. My parents are in their 80s and my dad found the stairs a bit tricky - it’s the only thing I might let customers know beforehand.

"This is a new letting in an old cottage which the owners have refurbished to a beautiful standard."
We were honoured to be their first guests! The living room has THE most comfy sofas, plus a spare chair and big footstool, so plenty of room for us all to be cosy despite the weather (we had storms Dudley and Eunice while we were there), and the gas/log burner effect fire made it all the cosier. And it's a good size too. The bedrooms have super comfy beds and there's plenty of cupboard storage for your things. The bathrooms (one is ensuite) are modern and at the same time in keeping with the old cottage. The kitchen is well equipped - as we as a group are still wary of Covid we didn't want to eat out, and it had everything we needed to prepare all our meals. (there isn't a freezer compartment if you want to have ice cream, but there's 2 places to buy icecream in town) The owners welcomed us by text, and were very approachable. - I feel like we have new friends. They also emailed us a PDF with lots of info about the cottage and the area. Parking was no problem - room for at least one car outside and the others very nearby. It's a short walk (5 mins) into the Main Street of Sedbergh, which has independent shops, cafes and pubs/ eateries (next time!), and books for sale everywhere. The surrounding area with the Howgill Fells, access to the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District, has everything for the outdoor enthusiast (one of our family did get out high each day despite the weather). There's also lovely riverside walks for the less fell-fit. 3 Settlebeck Cottages was exactly what we needed for our first full family stay together under one roof in 2 years, and hopefully we'll come back again.
