  • "Would certainly give sykes more stars but have only put two stars for our Kingfisher lodge break as that is all it deserves."

The lodge was spotlessly clean , comfortable and had plenty of space and starter pack was great. However, the outside surroundings were terrible and did spoil our break as the owners are aware of due to a complaint we. have made and photos. Apart from seeing rubbish around the back of the back bedroom it was the sheeting across the patio and the view of it from the whole of the room. No view at all of an open landscape. Completely wrong advertising and dangerous to use a socket in the room switch on at all. times and it was from the large maintenance building under our room door/window. Parking spaces not on property as expected and would have been the same as the all the others iff there had been. Seemed obvious it was due to being no space because the lodge is " new " and nowhere to put a concrete area for a car. Did not phone anyone..all lodges seemed full so not much chances of changing and we were 5 days not 5 weeks so hardly worth spending the time. Man , Banshee ? was not forthcoming when I sent an e mail before arrival enquiring about the large building, didn't seem to like being asked and to suggest we could always use the other bedroom was very ignorant of him. It is a lodge for 4 people. Did not know that Jon on site could off been approached at that time , he only advised us were to park so he could get into the building.as he worked in there. He became unapproachable and I think he expected us to complain about the socket which would not have been worth it at the time. We want to be out and about to relax not argue on holiday which would have happened with these people. This is a repeat of the complaint we made and we don't expect anything other than ignorance from them.

  • "Kingfisher Lodge is really spacious, modern, clean and well equipped, although with no Wi-fi access."

The only reservation we had was finding a small industrial type unit right behind it, with access alongside the lodge. Fortunately this didn’t cause any real problems, with usually just the odd vehicle coming to it during the times that we were there. The small site is very quiet and only a short distance into the village of Gargrave, where we enjoyed the Dalesman Cafe, walks by the river and along the canal - and lovely fish and chips at the Frying Yorkshireman!

Thank you so much for your kind review – we're really pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Kingfisher Lodge and appreciated its space, cleanliness, and great location near Gargrave. Just to clarify, the building behind the lodge isn’t an industrial unit but our implement shed for the park, used occasionally for storage and maintenance purposes. We’re glad it didn’t cause any disturbance during your visit and appreciate you noting how peaceful the site was overall. We hope to welcome you back again soon! Property Owner
