Quaint, cosy cottage with a fantastic new shower room and everything required for a nice quiet short break.

Great, peaceful location. Check-in and check-out was easy, everything was as described, and the neighbour Ute welcomed me to the cottage and gave instruction on the heating setup and advice on the facilities and leisure activities available nearby. I only marked this down slightly on 'Cleanliness' because a few of the oven trays had some food marks on them from their last use. I also couldn't find an ironing board (maybe one wasn't offered?) but otherwise everything was pristine so all in all a 5-star stay for the price paid. I will undoubtedly return in the future!

We had a lovely time at Barn Cottage in the most idyllic village of Ireby.

The location is beautiful with the beck across the road and so very quiet. The cottage is very nice, with open beams and quaint features, small and cozy. The furniture could use updating and the small couch is very low to the floor, for anyone with mobility issues, plus you need to watch you don't bang your head on the stairs behind you when sitting down. The bathroom upstairs is modern and well appointed. The bedrooms are small but comfortable. We had a warm welcome from Ute who lives just behind the cottage and looks after it and she was very attentive, leaving a lovely jar of Damson Jam for us. She gave great suggestions for where to find footpaths and walks in the area. We enjoyed a walk up the green lane and then down the road to the village of Leck, plus a footpath walk over the fell to Masongill. Such amazing views. We only had one issue with a stale smell coming from the fridge which didn't seem to be rectified with a thorough cleaning, but I'm sure Ute will have that sorted now that we have checked out. It is a great little cottage in a wonderful part of Yorkshire!

The cottage was lovely in a secluded village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, central to travel around both hill walks, the coast and within easy access of Cumbria.

The cottage was lovely, warm and welcoming.

The owners and people who took care of the property were very friendly and very helpful and communicative .

The property was really nice but a bit smaller than I was expecting in terms of room size , but it was not a problem. They had some great stuff for children - good books and games. There was no worries about parking as another car, if large, could be popped a little down the lane by a telephone box. The area is nice to explore. I would definitely want to go back to the area and would consider a re-book here or in the general area going forward.

Lovely cosy cottage in beautiful location.

Very quiet, yet not far from Ingleton and Kirkby Lonsdale. Comfy beds, plenty of towels, efficient heating if needed, well equipped kitchen. The friendly and helpful host lives next door, so you have no worries about anything!

The cottage was lovely and clean when we arrived.

It had everything we needed for our stay. The neighbours, especially Ute, were really helpful and friendly. We had emails from the owners as well as Ute, explaining the various walks we could do, including those close to the cottage which didn’t require driving. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Barn Cottage was the perfect location for our family holiday over the Easter break.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. The accommodation was comfortable and the facilities were warm and welcoming. The owner communication was brilliant and Ute who looks after the cottage, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The local villages had everything you needed and we had a brilliant time exploring the area. We are already looking to return next year.

Fantastic stay, cottage very comfortable and the local area is gorgeous.

Lots of lovely little towns with independent shops, including an amazing bakery and enormous antiques shop! The countryside is stunning and there are loads of features that kids will love, like waterfalls, caves etc. Picnic spots are abundant as well as a choice of many pubs, cafes and restaurants. Cooking facilities at the cottage are well provisioned and we were given very helpful information by the owners and from Ute. The cottage was very clean, cosy and had everything we needed. Easy access to the countryside and walks straight from the front door. Excellent!

This is a lovely cottage in a great area and I will definitely come again.

So many lovely walks nearby and very quiet. Very comfortable and nice neighbours. It was also dog friendly but the small pleasant sitting out area is not very secure for a lively dog who might get out and chase the neighbouring chickens. There's a wonderful back garden but you do have to walk round to it. Thank you to Ute who looks after the cottage and is there when needed.

We simply loved this cottage.

The location is beautiful and the house is homely and comfortable. The host was very welcoming and generous, she made sure we had everything we needed and gave us some homemade jam to take home. We would love to come back again!

We had a fabulous three night stat at Barn Cottage.

The location is a hidden gem, very quiet and pretty yer year to attractions, towns, walks and facilities. The cottage itself is cosy and clean. We cooked in the kitchen which had everything you would need to make an array of meals and the wood burner was cosy of an evening. Dog friendly and we also had a four year old who loved playing with the Lego in the games cupboard. The living space is cosy but this wasn't a problem for us and the bedrooms were good sizes. Utes homemade plum jam also delicious! Would definitely go back and recommend.

Well equipped cottage in a quiet location with easy access to major tourist attractions

Very comfortable and cosy with all the furnishings, kitchenware etc. needed for a very enjoyable stay. Ireby village itself is very pleasant and well-located for exploring the Dales and the Lake District. Good shopping in Kirkby Lonsdale just a few minutes-drive away, with the bright lights of Ingleton as close. Great and unobtrusive help from Ute (vielen dank). Would certainly recommend.

The cottage was well maintained with 3 good sized bedrooms & a lovely large walk in shower.

We were pleasantly surprised to find quite a few items in the kitchen as a bonus such as tea, coffee, kitchen roll, washing up supplies etc, which you usually need to buy

Barn Cottage is very lovely, well maintained and well equipped with most items that you would find in a kitchen.

Could benefit from having a small freezer as the one in the fridge was a bit small especially for a family of 4. My only issue and it is only very small, was that behind the beds headboards was quite a collection of cobwebs and spiders. The neighbours are very friendly and if you’re looking for something quite this is a perfect location.

The property was perfect and as described.

The arrangements were clear and very fair . The beds were comfortable and fresh. We had a lovely welcome surprise of home made jam. Everything we needed was provided including toilet rolls and hand soap. We have no hesitation in recommening this property for a peacful and comfortable stay. First time we have used Sykes Cottages and after this experince it won't be the last. Thank you Paul, Anita and Uta

We really enjoyed our stay Ute made us feel at home right from the start.

The cupboards in kitchen were well stocked with all the essentials a lovely pot of homemade jam was much appreciated. Plenty of logs for the log burner. The beds were very comfortable and the Thank was excellen. Ireby is close to the town of Kirby longsdale and with the dales a perfect setting.. We will definitely be back Thanks again for a great week.

The cottage is small but very nice.

We went when it had snowed and on arrival found a window was open upstairs so it was extremely cold. We read the book and put on the wood burner but weren’t sure about the valves. We found it smoky. Also the burner did not spread to the radiators Uke told us it never gets hot enough for the radiators. This is misleading and should be changed in the book. There were 3 storage heaters, but the front door and front window were draughty. We had to wrap up in blankets and scarves to watch tv and put hot water bottles in the beds and cover them with blankets we found under the beds. If we come again it will be in the summer. There was a known plumbing problem. There was a blockage which cleared whilst we were there but we couldn’t drink the water from the kitchen tap. It came out white. Luckily the host had left us bottled water so we had to use that. We only stayed 2 nights so we managed.

We found the cottage to be in a most delightful location; a very short drive down to the main road allowing quick access to the Yorkshire Dales, Lancaster area and Cumbria.

The accommodation was comfortable and warm. All told we had a great week and the weather was super kind to us. The kitchen was well kitted out with equipment; a couple of suggestions however: some worktop protectors would be helpful as we had to improvise, and there was no oven grill pan (only the rack) which made grilling anything very difficult. Nonetheless we cooked some very nice meals ! Would we recommend the accommodation, absolutely ! What a magnificent

The cottage was comfortable and had lots of equipment in fact everything you need.

Could do with a spring clean. Lots of cobwebs, spiders & dust. Dog hair behind sofa's.

Cottage is small but has what you need. The area, villages and surrounding countryside is beautiful and has lovely walks. Cleanliness needs some attention.

Oh wow, such a lovely, secluded and quiet location.

All the countryside and walks you want are on your doorstep (literally). The little patio garden is an ideal sun-trap if you're lucky, as we were, with the weather. The lovely shops in Kirkby Lonsdale are a close drive, and it's ideally located to venture to either the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. It's an ideal place and one of those places that you wished you lived there.

Stayed for a week in Barn Cottage and had a lovely welcome.

The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you need, very comfortable and homely. The cottage is in a beautiful and peaceful village and in close proximity to places to visit. I would recommend the cottage and I would visit it again if staying in the area. It's very tranquil and a slow pace of life away from the hustle and bustle. We spent a perfect week here.

Its finished to a very high standard and the owner couldn't be more helpful. The surrounding area is beautiful. Local shops & takeaways are close at hand.

There was everything we needed for the weeks stay. Barn cottage had everything it said on the advertisement. The small village of Ireby was a perfect setting on the edge of the Yorkshire dales we really enjoyed our stay. Thanks to everybody who made it possible we made some great memories.

Lovely cosy cottage in a peaceful location.

Easy to walk from the house or travel to nearby attractions. Great facilities in the house and Ute a couple of doors up was very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay.

I loved the cottage, the location and very helpful owner.

It was lovely and quiet, exactly how I wanted it. The only missing part for me personally was a very small paved back garden, only because my dog is used to do the business in the morning in our large grassed back garden. However the fields around us were massive and it wasn't a big issue.

Cottage was in a quiet location, very clean and well stocked in the kitchen.

Very friendly greeting with comprehensive orientation of house and surrounding area. Although it is listed as 2 double bedrooms and 1 bunk bedroom (ie: 4 adults and two children) the sitting room was cramped for 4 adults with only the 2 small two seater sofas.

Cottage positioned in beautiful location.

Clean and well equipped. Slightly cosy for our needs. The listing did warn it was ideally suitable for 4 adults and 2 kids and were were 4 adults and 2 adult sized kids. Ute was very welcoming and helpful and kindly left us biscuits for the dog, delicious rhubarb jelly and brought round some fresh home grown herbs. Thank you for a lovely week.

Lovely well equipped cottage in a quiet rural location perfect for exploring the surrounding areas.

Made to feel very welcome and greeted with jam and doggie biscuits from the hosts.

The couple who look after the cottage were brilliant .

Very friendly, kind and welcoming and nothing was too much bother. It made the holiday even better.
