"Oak Cottage is in the centre of Kettlewell and very convenient to all the amenities in this beautiful village, The cottage is well equipped for all your needs, Parking permit in the local car park which is only 2 minutes walk away was so helpful as parking out side the cottage is very tight if you have a large car."
We would recommend Oak cottage and we would return to this lovely cottage.

"Oak Cottage is a fantastic property with many great aspects to it."
The layout is good with enough room for two of us and the dogs. The whole house is clean and well decorated with quirky designs in every room and around every corner. Wherever you look another odd ornament brings a smile to your face. For those planning walks there is a supply of maps and tourist information on the bookshelf.
The entrance goes into the modern kitchen diner area with a large table for eating or planning the days events. There is plenty of space to prepare meals and a decent set of equipment to aid the task. This leads to the lounge with a big wood burner for colder nights. Our stay was in May so we did not need it. Upstairs is a good sized main bedroom with plenty of storage and a good view over the rear garden. There is also a smaller front double room. The bathroom was good with a roomy shower and good supply of hot water.
The shared garden is part cobbled and part grass and has plenty of room to relax on the small deckchairs we found under the stairs.
The parking area to the front is somewhat narrow, but I managed to get our large car in close enough for others to get through. A pass for the local car park - 30 seconds walk away - is provided which is thoughtful.
Both nearby pubs were good and friendly, although both are more for tourists rather than a locals, it seemed. One is basic but good, one a touch more upmarket with a more homely feel.
We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend Oak Cottage as a base for a stay in this area.

"An excellent facility with a very well equipped kitchen."
When one of the smoke alarm batteries went the owners came at 10.00 pm to sort it out. You couldn't ask them to do more and they were happy to help.

"Stunning spacious cottage, a really comfortable home from home feeling."
Beautifully designed and well-equipped. Location ideal for exploring the Dales & even Cumbria for longer day trips. Village has 3 pubs, a tearoom, ice cream kiosk and coffee shop/deli. Beds super comfortable, garden full of wildlife, warm and cosy even when temperatures outside are very chilly. Delightful stay, thank you.

"The cottage was comfortable, cosy, well equipped and in a lovely location."
Parking outside the cottage plus the car park permit a real bonus especially for the busier seasons. Shared garden is lovely and we managed perfectly well keeping our dogs on leads whilst using it. Local pubs are great for a drink or meal. Everything worked well for us.

"Lovely property, great spot with good walks from the door."
Really comfortable and well equipped, beds fantastically comfortable and the later check out time is great and takes the pressure off the last day.
Parking in front the cottage is tight for larger cars but the permit for the national park car park works really well.
We would definitely stay again. Lovely village and well placed for getting to other parts of the dales

"Sofa's need updating, as one at least had started to collapse, however it wouldn't put us off staying again."
I was really shocked when I read this feedback, as we had never received any complaints about the sofas. I drove straight to the cottage, and found there was nothing at all wrong with the sofas, and the new guests said they were really comfortable, and the cottage was lovely. I emailed the gentleman to ask what the problem was. His response was "that they weren't actually collapsing, but one was just too soft for their liking, and there was nothing wrong with the other one." Honestly I am stunned that someone could write such negative feedback, when it isn't even true! Presumably this man leaves a trail of unnecessary complaints every where he goes.

"Very well equipped house and exactly as described."
It is worth re-emphasising that the garden is a shared space and not suitable for children and dogs to run about as the actual amount that belongs to the cottage is very narrow. Saying that we sat out in the garden and it is lovely. We kept our dog on a lead out there in respect of the other garden owners.
Great walks right out of Kettlewell and two pubs serving food. The Kings Head was closed down when we were there. The village shop stocks extremely limited lines and you can't rely on it for supplies. This is a shame as we like to shop locally when we can.
The fact the garden is a shared space, and dogs need to be supervised in it, is very clearly detailed in the property description, so that is clear before booking. It's a beautiful, open garden space, and would be spoilt if fences were erected between the properties. However, the cottage garden is right opposite the river, and there are wonderful footpaths only a few paces from the front door, where dogs are safe roaming freely in the wonderful countryside around the village. The Kings Head pub is now open again.

"We had a lovely week in Oak cottage."
It has been done up to a very good standard. The kitchen/dining area has everything you need. It was handy having the washing machine after muddy walks. The living room is cosy with a big picture window looking over the beautiful garden and a great log burner, which we used after a very wet walk. We loved the walk-in shower in the bathroom, providing lots of hot water. Both bedrooms have very comfy beds and storage/handing space. The bed in the large back bedroom is huge, and again has a big picture window overlooking the garden. The garden is shared but there is seating you can use. Sadly it was too wet during our stay but I did take our dog for a little wander around on his lead. The village is lovely, with lots of walks available. There are two pubs next to the cottage. At the Racehorses Hotel we took advantage of their take away menu, and both the pizza and Butter Chicken Curry were excellent. We also ate in The Blue Bell Inn and enjoyed the food. Overall we had a lovely stay and would be happy to return.

"This is a lovely comfortable cottage in a good location."
It is really well equipped and the owner was very helpful. Just a few things that would improve the stay:
It was freezing cold when we arrived in the early evening because the heating was set to fixed times. It would be really nice to arrive to a warm cottage and it took a bit of time to establish how the heating worked.
Although the information claims the property is dog friendly (which the inside certainly is) the garden is shared between 4 cottages with no divisions. One owner was not dog friendly and dogs don’t recognise invisible boundaries. My dog was very good but a more boisterous one might be stressful.
The information on your website claims that electricity and fuel are included in the rent. This is not the case and although a small amount was supplied, the owner charged £10 per bag for logs and £3 for kindling. We bought an enormous amount of logs locally as it was very cold so your information is misleading.
All in all this is a lovely holiday cottage and my son and I really enjoyed staying there. The owner has made every effort to be helpful and to provide everything needed for a comfortable stay. There are several pubs very close where the food was very good and plentiful.
