Mill Brow Apartment

This is the fourth time we have stayed at Mill Brow.

Need I say more?

We had a lovely stay at Mill Brow.

A well equipped property with character. A beautiful view from the sitting room with a comfortable double bed in one of the 2 bedrooms and a spacious bathroom with over bath shower. The kitchen has everything needed to make meals for a homely dining experience. The spiral stairs up to the property are easily manageable with a small area at the top which is the perfect sun trap for sitting in the afternoon. The large sitting room would benefit from a bigger TV with a few more options than just the few Freeview channels available. The garden is huge for sitting in and the great bonus is a private parking place. Kirby Lonsdale is a pleasant town with plenty of eateries and a great butcher’s. Convenient for driving to nearby towns of Ingleton and Kendal and some nice river and circular walks from the doorstep. We’d definitely recommend a stay at Mill Brow.

Kirkby Lonsdale is a well-located town.

It is located 25 minutes from Kendal which is at the start of the Lake District, and is 25 minutes from Sedbergh in the Dales. It has the atmosphere of a friendly, small town. However, it is large enough to have a well-stocked supermarket, pubs and restaurants. There are lovely walks in the area and the apartment is in very pretty location. Ruskin’s View, past the church, is a short walk from the apartment. Mill Brow is a comfortable, first-storey apartment with a brilliant view over the Lune River. The apartment was very clean with good cooking facilities. We never ran out of hot water for a soaking bath. The shower pressure was not strong, but was adequate. We had heavy suit cases, but had no trouble using the staircase. There is spacious, private parking space for 2 cars. The owners are lovely people; not obtrusive, but available if one needs assistance.

A lovely comfortable and cosy apartment situated in the heart of lovely Kirkby Lonsdale.

Very well equipped, everything that you would need to make this a home from home, a lot of thought has gone into it. The view from the lounge is amazing. The owner Mrs Nicholson is there should you need her, she is a delight.

Apartment is very comfortable in an oldy worldy way, uneven, creaky floors but that adds to the atmosphere of the place.

The spiral stairs were manageable but care needed when it was raining, which it did quite a lot of the time we were there. Views were spectacular and we had the gardens to ourselves. Kirby Lonsdale is a quaint place to visit, lots of eateries and bespoke shops. The owners were helpful but no intrusive. We enjoyed a very pleasant week. Thank you.

The added bonus of the views, use of the shared garden on sunny days makes this a great location right in the town centre, with views over the river Lune. Plus a welcome parking space ! Yes the entrance steps are awkward, but we both had bad legs at the time and managed very easily. I am sure we will be back

Back again (for at least the fifth time!

) at this lovely apartment, set in beautiful surroundings and which has everything you might need. Owners are extremely welcoming and now treat us like old friends, which is lovely. The only down point is the outside spiral staircase, which is well advertised, and we always manage fine. Would book again for next year if it was possible.

Spiral stairs no problem as long as you are reasonably fit. I did ok aged 81.

Very lovely place and very kind owners, reserved parking outside to door which is rare and hard to find in Kirkby Lonsdale, lovely pubs/restaurants/bakers just around the corner.

A very attractive and comfortable property.

Nicely decorated and the lounge in particular was very pleasant, with an amazing view; a very interesting selection of books and magazines. Our hostess and her husband were very friendly and helpful. A minor suggestion would be to add that the fridge has an icebox. The property is quiet and peaceful, but well located near the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale within a couple minutes walk of the numerous shops, pubs and restaurants.

The view from the living room window of the Lune river and countryside is just wonderful.

The apartment is very comfortable, quiet and spacious, we would recommend Mill Brow to anyone. With a large on site parking area and the accessibility to the town center a block away its location is excellent. The owner {Pat} is very friendly and a great hostess, and they live next door.

This was the third year in succession that we have booked this apartment.

It was perfect for us in every way. We were planning to come again every year for the foreseeable future. We are sad that the entire complex is now up for sale and it is very unlikely that the same apartment will remain available after the sale.

This was our fifth visit to the property which shows how much we like it.

Unfortunately on this occassion we were unable to stay the whole week due to illness. However the owner offered us a free few days stay at another time which was very kind of her.

Once you get up the external spiral staircase, lovely views from the sitting room across Ruskin's View. Everything you could need, lovely owners next door. We keep coming back year after year, and have already booked for next year ... says it all!

A well equipped, spacious apartment in a great location in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale with amazing views.

The private parking space was a bonus and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful gardens looking out over the surrounding countryside. The spiral staircase did not prove a problem for us and we are both in our seventies but fairly mobile.We would love to return to Mill Brow in the future.

We loved our stay here.

The place is very clean and the views are simply stunning. The host is particularly helpful and friendly. We would have liked a larger double bed but the bed itself is very comfortable. The external spiral staircase may be a concern for some and I would advise bringing small luggage bags. The weather was not the best during our stay but this also meant we made the most of the local pubs and restaurants - The Sun and Avanti were our favourites. Number 24 is also a lovely cafe. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Kirkby and would highly recommend it.

Superb position being a short walk down a VERY narrow road to the River Lune and very close to all amenities.

The owner was a lovely friendly lady who has lived in the area for many years. Very comfortable stay with everything we needed. Good bus service from Kirkby Lonsdale in all directions.

This is the third time we have stayed at Mill Brow and we will shall be returning in 2024.

Very clean, tidy and laid-back property in a fantastic location. The view from the living room window is something to behold. The designated parking spot is a big bonus. Access to the upstairs property is via a metal spiral staircase and is therefore not ideal for the elderly, young children or pets. The owner lives below and is on hand to answer any queries you may have.

Last year we came for a week, this year two.

Next year maybe three or four? Your apartment could not be more perfect for us. Thank you once again, Colin and Sally Sillence.

Ideally located if you want to be close to amenities and parking is a bonus. We coped with the spiral staircase but wouldn’t be suitable for everyone.

A delightful and spacious flat, with wonderful views from every window, in particular of the beautiful Lune.

Lovely well-tended gardens. Close proximity to Kirkby's nteresting independent shops, plus Booth's in walking distance. We return every year, and have a great time. Thankyou Pat.

The location, the views out of every window, everything you probably forgot to pack was there on arrival. We loved it because we could hear the river, see the amazing countryside and simply be at one with nature. I can't wait to go back as it certainly cast it's spell on me.

Mr & Mrs Nicolson were lovely hosts very friendly & helpful and nothing was a problem with our stay, clean homily with wonderful views of the countryside and river with a lovely garden area to the front of the house with table chairs and a BBQ to use as well, this is a fabulous prime spot with free private parking right outside the apartment and a very very short walk into the lovely town of Kirby Lonsdale with its lovely shops bars and all very dog friendly although we don't have a dog.

Mill Brow is a great place to stay as overnight parking is a nightmare in Kirby Lonsdale as you have to leave your car in a public car park payments too, but some establishments do offer free parking permits also everyone in the town were so friendly too.

The best holiday flat/house we have ever rented

The flat was well presented and fulfilled our needs exactly.

It had lovely views from the lounge window, and the river lune could be heard gently flowing in the background. The owners were there to provide information when we asked, lovely people. We had a great time.

Our second stay in this comfortable, welcoming property.

The views are indeed spectacular and the town is only 5 mins walk away. Parking is easy and some spectacular walks alone the river are a must. We will return in 2023!

This was the most comfortable and most generously-appointed self-catering apartment that we have ever rented.

The view from the sitting room window over the Lune to the fells was beautiful. The situation was completely quiet with just the rush of the river and birdsong to delight when you open the window. Some might find the access via a spiral staircase troublesome, but we (aged 70 and 65) had no trouble. We hope to be back.

This a comfortable traditional style apartment.

From the living room and bed rooms there are fabulous views across the river Lune and valley to the fells beyond. An ever changing picture. The apartment is accessed by a spiral stair case so is only suitable for people with reasonable mobility.

Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting.

Kirkby Lonsdale has all the shops you could possibly want. The owner was also very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend to anybody who likes the great outdoors. Location only six miles from the M6 so easy to get too.

Mill Brow Apartment is a great base for visiting the Lake District.

It is clean, comfortable and spacious. It is very well equipped and commands glorious views. It is well positioned in the town with the added bonus of private parking.

We were very pleased with the apartment.

It was spacious, well equipped and very clean. There are lovely views from the apartment and Kirkby Lonsdale, although a small town, has plenty of places to eat and interesting shopping and is an interesting place to explore. All in all an excellent holiday home from home.

Unfortunately the apartment smelt foisty sort of damp and old the fire escape entrance was small and winding and quite scarey to walk up and down , the bedroom light did not work The parking was really good the house was clean and the views were magnificent.

Our second year here, a lovely flat with great views, and everything you could want.

We would have booked next year too, but someone has beaten us to it!

The appartment was very spacious and extremely comfortable.

Everything had been thought through to make visitors feel welcomed and at home. It's in a great location very quiet yet within 5 minutes walking distance of the village centre. Also an excellent base to visit the Yorkshire Dale's and the Lake District. We would certainly book this property again.

restaurants and pubs. Wonderful views over the river and hills beyond. Access is up a spiral staircase so not suitable for all but the property is well worth the “climb” Buses to Kendal and Lancaster and an easy drive to Windermere and the Lakes.

Beautifully located appartment with stunning views across the Lune.

Everything we needed was there, welcoming owner, clean and well furnished. Kirkby Lonsdale town is just on your doorstep with all its shops, pubs etc, but the appartment is a haven of peace set in a lovely garden. Could not be better ... we've asked if we can come back next year!

On arrival we were welcomed by the landlady with half a dozen free range eggs so that was a good start to the holiday.

Although she and her husband lived under the apartment they left us to our own devices but I am sure were there if we needed them. The apartment was clean and much larger than I was expecting and the views from the bedrooms and living room, outstanding. We were about 30miles SE of Windemere and most of the drive was dual carriageway so very easy to get to. Pubs and restaurants in town were many and welcoming and within easy walk from the apartment. I would recommend this apartment to anyone visiting the Lakes and N.Yorkshire Dales as a great base, comfortable, clean and very much like home away from home

The cottage was wonderful.

Perfect in every way. Met our needs, perfectly. Lovely surroundings, Mrs Nicholson was a kind and helpful lady. Would deffinatly stay there again.

the furniture was comfortable and period to suit the cottage and its surroundings in Kirkby Lonsdale, with brilliant views from the lounge window, some of the best we have seen.

All in all a thoroughly pleasant and enjoyable stay at Mill Brow. My wife and i are in our seventies and had no problems with the spiral staircase at all.We will return.

Absolutely fantastic apartment right in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale, with parking for 2 cars.

This apartment had everything you could want form a holiday home. Every thing was provided in spacious rooms. The view from the lounge window over towards Ruskin's view is breath taking. Just a 2 minute stroll to the centre of the village where you will find numerous good shops, bars & restaurants. If anyone can find a better holiday let in a better setting, please let me know. I doubt there is one.

A very well appointed and comfortable apartment in the middle of Kirby Lonsdale.

The view from the sitting room window across the fields and distant fells is simply magical and is ever changing shades of green in the sunlight. It is an ideal location for visiting the Yorkshire Dales, the Howgills and the Lake District. The owner, Mrs Nicolson is extremely friendly and helpful. It is simply one of the best holiday apartments.

The property is ideally placed for visiting the South Lakes area and Kirkby Lonsdale itself is a lovely town with a good selection of independent shops and eateries.

The only downside we found was the external spiral staircase to access the accommodation which could be a problem for anyone not entirely fit/mobile. The listing did fully describe this however so we were fully aware of this fact before arriving. This is the only thing that might put us off booking the apartment again.

The location was great.

Apt had fantastic views and is close to shops and restaurants. Great walks in the surrounding areas and apt had lots of information about the area. Apt was very equipped, comfortable. We love the big bathroom and had a really lovely time.

Lovely apartment.

We felt our expectations were exceeded when we entered the apartment. Although the description was accurate it did not convey the spaciousness of the whole apartment. Large lounge with fantastic views. Large bathroom and two good sized bedrooms. Dining area a little small but did not in any way detract from the experience. Spiral staircase leading to the apartment is as described and easy enough to negotiate. Met the owner and some other people and everyone was so friendly. Very clean and comfortable. Spacious, fantastic views and parking in pretty much the centre of Kirkby. What more could you want. Extremely likely that we will go back.

We are active retirees and had no problems with access via the spiral staircase.

The owner lives below and was friendly and helpful without interfering. The apartment is well equipped, tastefully furnished and centrally located in a charming village. It has what has to be one of the best views of rural England from the lounge room window. We were most satisfied with the whole experience and would definitely return to the property if we visit the area again.
