"Unfortunately, the owners were away when we arrived and there were some issues with the housekeeping."
Our hearts sank when we saw a large pile of dog excrement in the middle of the parking area. On opening the front door, there was a bundle of human hair on the mat and some unidentified brown matter on the inside of the threshold. There were 'bits' on the floors of the general areas including crisp remnants and a furniture sucker pad laying underneath the dining table. The mats had not been vacuumed and it was quite evident the place had not been cleaned properly. We decided to clean it up ourselves and get on with our holiday but, sadly, the vacuum cleaner did not work. We phoned the owner, who was away in France, and she arranged for a neighbour to bring round a working vacuum cleaner so we could clean up the mess ourselves. We had to wipe all the kitchen surfaces and tables. We found congealed matter on the hob and the work surfaces and kitchen cupboard doors needed a good wipe down. The bedroom was excellent and had definitely been cleaned. It was a nice property which was badly let down by the poor housekeeping. Spending over an hour cleaning wasn't the best way to begin our holiday in the Dales. On their return from France, the owners were very friendly and apologised that the property was not spotless. Sadly, the lack of TLC, let them... and us... down. Disappointing.

"We loved Byre Suite."
Really well designed accommodation; modern and stylish with good facilities. Comfy bed, hot shower, plenty of storage for muddy boots and wet coats as well as bedroom storage. Nice views from the upstairs living room, which was a cool space to relax with interesting decor and great lighting options to suit the mood. Cute side garden for guests.
Owner friendly and relaxed. Parking ok, a bit tight for our longer car. Great to have The Queen’s Arms next door for food or a pint.

"What a lovely cottage, the pictures do not do it justice."
Lovely views, the only downside is it's in the dales and there is a minimum of 5 miles of single track roads, nearest shop 6 miles and nearest supermarket 18 miles. Sofas have lots of cushions, a problem if you have back troubles. One suggestion would be an air fryer as the oven takes a while to warm up.

"A superb spacious property in a wonderful location."
the cleverly designed space is a far cry from a typical dales cottage let, and provided every comfort. Ideal for 2 people, extremely comfortable and only 100 yards from a great pub, with beautiful walks from every direction straight from the house. The owners provided laminated A4 sheets for several walks with a map included.

"A lovely place in a lovely location."
The cottage was really comfortable. The only downside was the kitchen was a bit small, there wasn't a lot of worktop space for cooking and cupboards to put groceries away. But that was only a minor thing all in all we really enjoyed our stay and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

"We had a lovely week staying in the Byre suite, which really is a unique property."
Externally traditional, internally very modern and stylish, an ideal base for a week’s walking in the Dales, with walks literally starting from just across the road! And then the Queens Arms, just down the road, provided the icing on the cake!
We have an SUV, and parking was a little tight, but that aside, Byre Suite really is a very stylish home from home!

"We had a wonderful stay at Byre Suite."
The accommodation was gorgeous- a mixture of contemporary and traditional- with excellent styling and decoration, and so many lighting options! We loved the feeling of space, which you don't often get in a cottage for couples. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows and an extra blanket. As for the views from the first floor window- stunning! Plentiful hot water and the heating, including the fire, we're great for those chilly mornings and evenings. Excellent pub only a 2 minute walk away where we ate two delicious meals. Such a beautiful area for walking- which we did most days. I would have given 5 stars, but for a few minor things- firstly, there was no welcome pack- not an expectation and we had brought everything we needed with us- but considering there is no shop nearby, it would have been nice to have been left some milk, sugar and tea. Also, the TV only had the Sky remote to operate it (also it was a Sky Go box with the free channels) so we were unable to change the picture settings which was set to motion smoothing - makes all TV programs look like a cheap soap opera! This didn't detract from our enjoyment, but worth noting for future reference. The shower water drained away very slowly, so after a few minutes you're standing in a few cms of water. I was happily surprised to see there was a washing machine and second WC. Overall, an extremely enjoyable stay and lovely accommodation, set in a beautiful area of the Dales- which was particularly lovely at this time of year when the lambs are frolicking in the nearby fields! We would highly recommend Byre Suite for a comfortable and peaceful break.
Thank you for your lovely review.

"What a cracking place to stay."
A very different renovation for what you may expect from a stone building in the heart of the Yorkshire Dale's. Yet, there was nothing to not like.
Friendly hosts, and everything you need, including a washing machine.
For a base from which to explore the Dales on foot, spot on.

"We had a fantastic week at Byre Suite."
It has everything you could need, very well equipped, especially as our week was a bit soggy. It was so lovely to return to the house and get warm and cosy. Very happy to find a washing machine for our muddies! We could not have been more comfortable and relaxed. The views are beautiful in all directions and in any weather. We would love to stay again to see the area in another season.
The Queens Arms serves exceptional home cooked food and their own ale is a very moreish! Wonderful walks from the door. Perfect.

"Lovely, extremely spacious, and very well-equipped accommodation combining modern with traditional."
The accommodation is on 2 levels with an impressive connecting spiral staircase. Very large bedroom and ensuite and an extremely comfortable king size bed. Lots of ambient lighting throughout the accommodation to create cosiness. We ate an excellent meal at the Queen's Arms which is only a 3 minute walk away. A beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales with walks and cycling from the door. Lovely hosts too. We'll be back.

"Lovely stay at the Byre."
Nice helpful hosts who attended to our needs.
Good facilities but We would say as it is walking country that a washing machine and a dryer should be a must, this was missed from our stay. Only other comment is that the lounge settees were very uncomfortable and well past their sell by date. If weather had been inclement, sitting on these would be a challenge. Excellent WiFi and smart tv.
Apart from this, a lovely cottage in a beautiful location but be prepared for lengthy drives if exploring the area.

"My husband and I travel a lot and by far this is one of the best properties we have stayed at."
The property itself is quirky, clean and spacious with everything you could ask for and more.
The sofas and bed are super comfy and the space is amazing. So much room and feels really homely.
The hosts Robert and Kath were amazing too. Came to say hello when we arrived, offered to change the gas bottle for the fire and relight the pilot light for us.
There garden and surroundings are absolutely stunning. We woke up every morning to birds chirping away and had visits from some other wildlife too including rabbits and pheasants.
Lovely sitting area in the garden to enjoy the afternoon sun.
We had lots of information provided on walks of all different ratings from easy to very hard.
There are board games and books to entertain you if you need them.
The local pub is a 20 second walk and the food is delicious. Highly recommended.
We will definitely return it is now one of our favourite places to stay.
