  • "We had great week at Vive house ."

It is located centrally in the beautiful village in a lovely part of the country . Everything in village from roman baths and museum to the 3 pubs and the outstanding walks along the river are right on doorstep . It benefits from a private parking space in front of the garage which is a godsend in a village with ancient narrow streets . The house itself is outstanding with a downstairs kitchen / diner ,a sitting room with smart tv ,a wet room with shower and toilet then a lovely conservatory which leads out to a lovely enclosed garden . Upstairs another great sitting room with tv and music player with a library of books cds and dvds. There are 2 double bedrooms one with super king-size bed and a bathroom with toilet plunge bath and hand held shower. The whole house is spotlessly clean and has a lovely homely feel in all areas we felt totally relaxed and it is in a lovely quiet location . We took bus to clitheroe and did circular walks from village and had lovely afternoon at stydd Gardens which is only about 15 min walk and many more interesting places to visit are on the doorstep if required . We we felt that this was one of the most relaxing holidays we have had and this us due to this cottage being in a perfect location in a very friendly village . We are planning to book again for 2026 if it is available and anyone booking it will not be disappointed. Helen was a great host and any minor issues or questions I needed to ask were addressed in a timely and courteous manner and I did not feel uncomfortable contacting her at all . To sum up Vive House is a wonderful property in a lovely historic friendly village in a beautiful part of the country.

Thank you Ian! i am so glad you enjoyed your week and thank you for taking the time to give this lovely review. We hope to welcone you back to Vive House in the future. Property Owner

  • "House was fine with everything you need, as usual the whole experience was spoilt by the sheer number of nannying emails from Sykes."

Thanks David, I'm glad all was good. I will ask more from Sykes on what communications go out. Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous stay at Vive House."

We were two ladies and a dog. The house is really spacious, with plenty of separate areas to allow for different activities and the added addition of the enclosed garden to sit and enjoy the sun. The kitchen was so well equipped with everything we needed for our week's stay. Both the bedrooms were bright and comfortable. A real plus point are the two bathrooms, one downstairs, the other co-located with the bedrooms. We loved the bath, it was so relaxing (I'm under 5 feet and found it easy to use). Another great point is the parking space for the house - in front of the garage. This makes it very easy to travel out and about around the area. We visited Salmesbury Hall, Clitheroe, Downham, Longridge, Whaley (the Abbey ruins were very interesting). Additionally, Ribchester is a delightful village with Roman ruins, a Roman Museum and delightful surrounding walks. All in all, a wonderful house that suited us and the dog perfectly. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Vive House and would highly recommend it."

Having parking directly outside was a real bonus, especially given the narrow roads in Ribchester. The downstairs area was spacious and airy, making it ideal for meal preparation. Upstairs, the lounge was a real highlight—its vaulted ceiling and afternoon sun made it a lovely spot to relax. The house had a great atmosphere and met all our needs perfectly. Our teenage son particularly loved the wet room! Tucked away from the main thoroughfare, the house was blissfully quiet, free from traffic noise, which we really appreciated.

Thank you Louise! So glad you had a lovely stay Property Owner

  • "My American family stayed for 3 weeks and were thrilled with the property."

The kitchen featured all needed for cooking great family meals with a large dinjj in my table. The house boasts two reception rooms one on each floor. Luckily we had some great weather and were able to take advantage of the lovely outside area to the rear. We found the neighbours and community very friendly and would highly recommend this property

RIBCHESTER

Blackburn 7 miles; Clitheroe 9 miles; Preston 11 miles.

The village of Ribchester is encircled by green hills and lies in a curve of the River Ribble mid way between Preston and Clitheroe. It is a pleasant jumble of multi-coloured stone cottages in long twisting terraces. It has three pubs, the White Bull, dated 1707, the Black Bull and the Ribchester Arms and the award-winning Chinese restaurant Yu and You Restaurant and Bar. The White Bull has a porch canopy supported by four columns said to be from Roman ruins. The village takes its name from the River Ribble and the fort of Bremetennacum (the walled town by the Ribble). For this reason, Ribchester has been seen to have a purely Roman foundation, but excavations in 1977 showed that settlements going back to the middle Bronze Age existed in the area. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Ribble Valley is a rural haven of spectacular scenery, diverse natural habitats and historical legend, a place of almost incomparable peace, where adults and children alike can enjoy the simple pleasures of the outdoors without the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Longridge is easily reached, a unique town with plenty of interesting shops and tempting eateries, described as 'big on character' by the Sunday Times and ranked in their '101 Best Places To Live In Britain'. Nearby Clitheroe is famed for its specialist shops of all types, including, amongst others, a sausage shop that sells over seventy-five different varieties! A gourmet's paradise, with award-winning restaurants and country hotels situated throughout the valley, and annual events including a number of agricultural shows and day festivals of all types, this fantastic location has plenty to offer at any time of year!
