Shore Hall

We had a wonderful weekend at lovely Shore Hall to celebrate a Golden Wedding Anniversary.

We are a family of four generations, eleven of us, ranging from 9 years old to 92 years old. The house and it's layout was perfect for us all. It is set in a lovely location, the garden is beautiful and it was extremely well equipped and very clean. The sauna and hot tub was enjoyed by most of us, the kids especially loved the air hockey table and the elders had plenty of quiet areas to relax in. The property itself was perfect. One slight concern was the cobbled lane up to the house because a couple of our vehicles have very low suspensions, but all went well

Spacious house with a number of rooms for guests to have quiet moments if you have a large party.

Brilliant spacious dining room. Spacious bedrooms and facilities. Large garden ideal if you have a dog. Various seating areas in the garden to follow the sun plus a relaxing conservatory. Our family enjoyed the hot tub and sauna every day. Highly recommended for large parties of all ages. Also a peasant walk to and around the reservoir about a mile away.

We have just come back from 3 nights at the beautiful shore hall.

We were a family of 10 which included 4 children. The house is absolutely stunning and has everything you need for the perfect stay. There is so much space within the house and gardens that going as a large group you always had your own space. We spent most of the time in the beautiful garden enjoying the seating areas around the garden and had a bbq on one of the days. The hot tub was also a bonus which was set in a lovely little courtyard. The owners were absolutely lovely as we met them as they came to fix a part for the bbq as they knew beforehand that we were going to have a bbq so would like to thank them for this. On an evening the house is very cosy and have the option of putting the log fire on which in winter would be a very cosy setting. The house itself is just very warmly and extremely clean. We would definitely recommend Shore Hall to anyone wanting to spend time away as a family in a beautiful house.

We stayed here a group of 11 of us for my mums Hen weekend!

Loved every minute- the only thing we said was missing were a disco ball and karaoke ! The hot Tub was lovely, gardens are beautiful bedrooms even more so. I can’t wait to come back…. Maybe they could do little tractor ride up that cobbled road though

A great place for a family stay.

Lots of space both inside and out for young and older and the hot tub is a real bonus! Away from it all but close to places to visit and walking from the front door is straight into the countryside. Paul and Lyn have created a welcoming space where it's easy to feel at home.

We absolutely loved our stay at Shore Hall!

We selected this for a family holiday, with adults from mid 20's to late 70's, and two children aged 2 and 4. There was plenty of space for everyone to spend time together and also to escape and have quiet time. The house had a very warmly feel to it, and have absolutely everything you could think off! Given the summer heat, it was great to have the additional fridge freeze in the utility room, which also benefits from a 2nd downstairs toiled. The gardens are beautiful, and the addition of the summer house and hot tub are great assets. The views from the property are stunning, and it was great seeing a working farm next door, we all loved seeing the sheep and cows. All bedrooms are well furnished and equipped, and despite the heatwave we were never too warm. The facilities in the play room were and excellent additional space, and the dining table allowed for us all to sit together to eat and play games. There are plenty of shops in the nearby village, and a few braved the walk down the long cobbled hill, not for the faint hearted, but the car worked well too. The steps to the area of the hot tub are quite steep but we all managed no matter what the age. We would happily come again, 5 star rating from us!

Our 3 generation family group ranging from 5 years to 70’s had a wonderful stay at Shore Hall for special celebrations.

It is extremely well equipped inside and out. The children loved the outdoor space, the playroom and having a sitting room with TV. They enjoyed seeing the farm animals nearby. We all enjoyed walking straight out up the lane to the moors with spectacular views down to Rochdale and Manchester. We enjoyed another walk to the nearby Watergrove reservoir and the woods; sadly there are no longer any public toilet facilities or refreshments there. It was an easy drive to Hollingworth Lake. We were lucky with the weather and the hot tub was a pleasure. Please bear in mind that Shore Hall is up a cobbled lane and some cars may need to proceed with caution especially if heavily loaded. Our host was responsive when we raised queries. I really recommend Shore Hall.

This place was perfect!

Indoor and outside space was really good, perfect for our group and stay. All amenities taken care of, apart from towels for the hot tub which is to be expected, this place is fully equipped. Hosts were great in the lead up to our stay and very helpful in answering any questions I had. A couple of things that would have improved our stay, if the hot tub had been warmed up ready for our arrival, I stead we had to wait till the next day before we could use it and the shower in the ensure is very hot and not easy to adjust but I'm sure thats easily resolved. All in all I would highly recommend Shore Hall. Its a beautiful place in a beautiful location, walks nearby if you want, or a local town for food and drinks and a pub at the end of the road

Had a wonderful 4 night stay at Shore Hall.

Thank you to the owners for providing a house which felt like a home with almost everything provided. We did have to take cooking oil & towels for the hot tub but that was absolutely fine. Beautiful garden with many established stunning shrubs. We were there over a hot bank holiday weekend but there’s always somewhere in the garden where you could find some shade, if you wanted to! We visited Hollingworth Lake which was lovely with cafes across the road & a little arcade for the children. We also visited Lumb falls which again is beautiful but a bit of a tricky walk to get there & quite steep down to the water. Don’t let that put you off though as we had children between the ages of almost 5 & 8, and they managed it. That was followed by a meal at the Shepherd’s Rest . The food was good & a good place for children. Our favourite day was the day we spent at the house relaxing in the garden where the children were able to play safely and have lots of fun. We finished the day off with a bbq which was very handily placed under a tree so there was some shade for cooking!

Well equipped and good comms

Well what can is say about this house, not one bad word I think the pictures don’t really do the house justice as it is so beautiful.

We had a family weekend away 12 of us ages from 3 to 65 the house has lots of space to have a moment to yourself. The kitchen was well equipped with air fryer, slow cookers/fridges, food warmers. The games room is full of games/toys/books to keep the kids entertained. My husband damaged the wardrobe and obviously we had to pay for the damages but the owners were really good about the whole thing. Unfortunately as it was January so only a few made most of the hot tub/sauna it was personally too cold for me. We are booking again to visit in the summer to make use of these facilities and the beautiful garden. There is also a really nice pub about 5 mins walk and it’s not far from hollingworth lake. As we are from Manchester it is not far to drive to the beautiful views of the place. I would

what a fantastic place and the Christmas decorations were very special, it must have taken a day to put them all in place!

Perfect for the 10 of us to share some time together, lots of space and it was warm and well equipped. The hot tub was a bonus and the kids loved it. We would definitely return next time we wanted a break away as a family.

Had a lovely weekend stay at Shore Hall.

The house is great, very spacious but cosy with spectacular views. The house and garden were beautifully decorated throughout. The hot tub and play room were well received by the group. Lots to do in the local area. We had a meal in the local pub which was very good. Would recommend staying at Shore Hall, especially for a big group or extended family.

The house was beautifully decorated for the festive season. Local pub at the bottom of the road and village not too far way for local shops.

We had a 60th celebration we had am amazing time.

The house was immaculate well stocked kitchen and all the beds where comfy. The games room was a hit with the children as was the hot tub and sauna with the adults. Would definitely book again

Perfect size for our group. Lovely and quiet location. Perfect for walks. Good pub within walking distance. Kitchen very well stocked (air fryer, mixer, glassware, utensils and more)

Beautiful property comfortably furnished.

We thoroughly enjoyed our few days here. PS Re the heating ….the middle bedroom’s (3rd from the family bathroom)radiator doesn’t seem to be working

Absolutely loved our stay had everything for all age groups 21-81 years of age.

Shore Hall is well equipped and had everything we needed. The only downside was having to strip our own beds, make sure all dishes are washed and put away before leaving at 10am!!!! I think if guests are expected to strip their own beds and bring them to a designated room, a 10am departure is unacceptable. For the amount that is charged for per stay we should have been able to enjoy a breakfast on our last morning. If guests are expected to strip beds & empty bins etc a later depart time should be implemented

A great place to stay for a family celebration - we had an age range of 1 to 71 and everyone enjoyed the week.

Interesting places to go nearby and lovely walks from the door. We enjoyed the space, the gardens and the spa facilities. Would definitely go again.

There was everything we needed and more the host had thought of everything for every age in the house we had a 8 year old up to 70 year old and 2 dogs there was something for everyone

This fantastic Hall was an amazing place to stay and provide a party of 10 a wonderful holiday.

5 adults, 5 teens and 2 dogs. We stayed 4 nights. The teens and adults enjoyed the games room. The adults loved the hot tub, sauna and sun room for winding down. The gardens are lovely and the views are stunning even on an overcast day. The Hall is well equipped, we cooked meals for 10 with ease. We enjoyed local walks from the Hall and ventured out in the cars. We all said on our last night we weren’t ready to leave and could have stayed another night or two. We had great communication with the owners. Would be a great place to spend Christmas! Get those fires roaring. If you’re looking for a lot of character, history, unusual & quirky with loads of space then this accommodation offers so much. Great for large groups.

12 of us had a fab family get together for my mum's 70th celebrations.

The accommodation was as we'd hoped, beautiful location, peaceful, so much space, incredibly clean and 5 min walk from a lovely pub meal. Teens loved the games room, despite the table being broken but they managed somehow, plenty of parking, comfy beds, and everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. Unfortunately it rained a lot so didn't make much use of outside but inside was enough to keep us busy. Would highly recommend.

Shore Hall is a lovely place with a lot of charm and character. All the facilities were as described and we could not have wished for any more. We will definitely be returning some day.

We stayed at Shore Hall for a family birthday celebration - 8 adults and 4 children.

The property is absolutely stunning, with plenty of room for a big group. We had lovely weather, so really appreciated the large garden with slide and sea saws for the children, as well as the sun room and patio area. The children loved the playroom too and it was great to have a hot tub! The kitchen/utility was well stocked with plenty of useful crockery/cooking utensils as well as foil and cling film and two fridge freezers came in very handy. The bedrooms all had plenty of space, the master bedroom being particularly impressive. The views from the property were beautiful and enjoyed by all. We would love to return again!

Superb holiday home for us to celebrate my 60th.

5 couples, 2 toddlers, 1 baby and 2 dogs. Very comfortable beds, beautiful gardens, buildings and location. Well equipped. Lovely sauna and hot tub. Great games room. Stunning banquet hall! lovely lounges and generous sized bedrooms. Great communication with owners. Lovely walks from the door. Great pub with lovely food and service just down the road. We have to go back!

We arrived at Shore Hall to find it warm and inviting with fabulous Xmas decorations throughout.

We were a party of 5 adults (and 3 children who particularly love a hot tub)! Excellent amenities and we would love to return anytime.

Decorated for Christmas. Photos do not do it justice. Everything you need, Inc tin foil, spices, all the kitchen essentials. There are no bunk beds just single beds which is better. Fantastic stay. Thank you

We had a great stay here - it was perfect for our friends' get together and everyone commented on how beautiful the house is.

The house is really comfortable in a beautiful setting and there was plenty of space for all of us to relax together or separately. The only feedback I have is that there isn't much provided in the house - only 1 dishwasher tablet, 1 toilet roll per bathroom, no spare bin liners, and no kitchen essentials like oil, salt, pepper, tea or coffee. We had to do an emergency run to the shop when we realised the toilet roll and bin liner situation. Likewise in the kitchen, there aren't really any big pots and pans for group cooking which was a bit tricky when cooking pasta for 12. Overall though we loved it and would definitely come back - thank you!

What an absolutely amazing house!

Myself and 10 friends (and two dogs) stayed for a weekend away and have no complaints whatsoever. The house is SO spacious featuring two large sitting rooms, six large bedrooms and a huge dining table to accommodate us all. The extra features such as the gorgeous hot tub and games room were a real bonus, and the house (specifically the kitchen) was well equipped with everything we needed to cook some big meals. There’s a friendly pub just down the track which we stopped off at after a local walk which also serves some gorgeous food. Overall we would definitely recommend and would live to return one day! To begin, this property of fantastic and a great place to visit with a group of people for a special celebration as we did.

The views are stunning, the location is perfectly picturesque and the house is everything you could want or need. It’s clean, quiet, luxurious, warm and very spacious. There’s lots of parking, beautiful grounds and access to gorgeous walks and countryside from the door. Second fridge (great size and very cold) and extra food prep space in the utility room is excellent when catering for a big group. Hot tub is wonderful and such a treat. We would not have hesitated to book again immediately and give it 5 stars (with only a slight recommendation to provide more firewood and kindling given that the fireplaces are such an attractive feature). However… upon arrival we found a note saying that the dishwasher was broken and beyond repair. We had plans for extravagant dinners, breakfasts and indulgent cuisine so this was a nightmare discovery. Apparently a new one had been ordered that day and would not arrive until after our stay! With a party of 12 there was so much washing up. It felt like a full time job and took the shine off the place. There were constant grumbles from members of the party about how inconvenient it was. I feel sad to have to concentrate on a negative when everything else was so superb but it did have a significant impact on our stay. We felt it was a shame that there was only one dishwasher given the size of the place and had one gone down at least there would have been a back up. Maybe the owners will consider this for the future as there is plenty of space in the utility for a dishwasher.

Excellent stay at this very unique property.

Plenty of space inside and out for big families. Very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Hot tub and games room were loved by everybody. Pub down the road was lovely and the food was delicious.

What can I say but this place is amazing we had an amazing stay lots to do for the kids to enjoy spending time with family.

Beautiful house and grounds.

The games room was well stocked for the children, they all loved the outside trampoline. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds were comfy. Plenty of wardrobe and drawers. The hot tub and sauna were great too. We had a lovely week celebrating a special birthday

We had the best stay at Shore Hall!

From start to finish everything was perfect t for all 11 of us staying there. The house was stunning with old features and modern appliances. We were asked how we would like the rooms before our stay and the communication was great. The bedrooms were stunning and the beds so comfy. We relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed the gardens and games room. We had no children with us but this house is equipped perfectly for families. The train station is a 5 min drive away which made access perfect and a pub just down the road. We would all recommend this house.

Everything was perfect.

Group of 11 adults and 2 children and it was perfect for all of us. Everything was clean, plenty to do between the hot tub, games room, outdoor play items, etc, you could never be bored staying here. The beds were really comfy and the photos don't do the house justice! The gardens were beautiful! It feels like you're miles away from everything but then at the same time it's only a few minutes walk to a pub and a 10 minute walk to a small shop, best of both worlds. We had a hiccup with something (our fault) and the owners were super helpful and helped us out quickly. It was lovely to have cows, horses and chickens across the road to say hello to. If you're thinking of staying here I can't recommend it enough and it exceeded our expectations, thank you again!

I stayed at Shore Hall with a small group of friends to celebrate my 30th birthday and had such an amazing time.

The property is beautiful, it's large but yet still has a cosy feel. The original features are what sets this property apart. The property owner was wonderful, she made sure we had everything we needed for our stay and was very quick to answer any questions that I had. Thank you for the lovely stay!

The location, facilities and house were all amazing.

Lots of walks nearby, and spotted deer and green woodpeckers and saw a calf being born in the nearby farm. The house is very well equipped and great layout for lots of people. The hot tub and sauna were a great hit too. Highly recommended!

We stayed at stunning Shore Hall for a special family birthday.

The house was warm and welcoming and our multi generational family of 12 had enough room to come together yet spread out into different living rooms or the well stocked games room. I would definitely recommend a stay here for a family event. The decor and details throughout are perfect with beautiful character features, we really felt cosy and at home. Local supermarkets are plentiful and only minutes away. Walks onto the Pennines are accessible directly from the front door and the house becomes a part of the Landscape - you almost feel like you’re at Wuthering Heights! We all loved our stay and can’t wait to come back.

This is a stunning property!

Steeped in history, it oozes 'welcome' from the moment you step over the threshold. We had a New Year break with family here and really wished we could have stayed longer. So much so, that we have rebooked for Christmas! The house was spotless, and catered for all ages. The owners were super warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Despite its grand size, this house really does feel like a home, with space for everyone to gather together, yet also chill out separately in one of the two living rooms or games room, whilst still feeling part of the hub. The hot tub was an added bonus! Lovely place

A wonderfully spacious home in a stunning location.

Equipped with everything we could have needed and more. So many thoughtful additions that make a house a home. We came for Christmas, I asked if there would be a tree there, we arrived to a house lit up, inside and out, a magical wonderland. The scenery on walks we went on was breath taking. Can't recommend more highly, thank you Lyn and Paul!

A lovely house, well equipped and comfortable.

Play and game facilities are excellent. A lot of effort made to provide festive environment - much appreciated! Situation of key box made it difficult to find arriving after dark. Having a pub within short walking distance a bonus especially since the staff and food there are very good. Also being able to enjoy various walks from the house also a plus. Overall a great stay.

Had an amazing stay.

The extra touch of Christmas decorations made Shore Hall feel like a winter wonderland. Everything was perfect and our family had an absolutely lovely time using all the facilities provided. Can't recommend a stay enough.

We visited Shore Hall for a family celebration and all had a ball.

Thanks to Lyn and Paul for all their thoughtful touches and help both before and during our stay, they certainly are fantastic hosts. The property did not disappoint, our grandchildren particularly enjoyed the games room which was child friendly and exceptionally well equipped for all ages. Having two very comfortable TV lounges allowed our multi generational family to relax in style. The kitchen had everything you need catering for our 8 adults and 4 children and everyone enjoyed dining in the amazing period dining room with fantastic views. The 6 bedrooms were all very comfortable, well designed and allowed for different configurations for sleeping. The position of the 2 main bathrooms enabled the family to share without inconvenience. The pressure in the en-suite shower room was disappointing but adequate. Without doubt the highlight for our party was the hot tub even in the rain! Although the weather did not allow us to utilise the lovely outdoor space and facilities we could see the potential for fun and relaxation outside. The King William pub a short walk away provided excellent hospitality and a varied menu. To conclude Shore Hall provides an eclectic mix of old and new which combines beautifully. We hope to return in the future.
