Description

Heskin 0.5 miles. Squirrel Lodge is a welcoming retreat sitting within the remarkable setting of a Benedictine monastery dating back to the 7th century, near Charnock Richard in Lancashire. This single-storey studio-style cottage is arranged with comfort and convenience in mind, featuring a plush super-king-size bed with zip/link option allowing it to be set up as a twin on request.

There is a light and airy sitting area with sofa bed and desk, and a kitchenette with a dining space suited to light catering before heading out to explore what wonders Lancashire has to offer. A shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC completes the layout with a space for guests to freshen up after a long day out. Guests are welcome to enjoy the great on-site bar and restaurant, complimentary access to the shared swimming pool at selected times, and spa packages available from reception. Squirrel Lodge is a distinctive base for exploring Lancashire from a historic setting. What guests are saying

There was no cottage named Squirrel Cottage There are about 40 to 50 cottages and they are really just apartments that are part of the Park Hall Hotel.

I reckon just a way for the hotel to try and advertise these apartments. There is no kitchen in the "cottages". No sink for washing any dishes and I had to use the wash basin in the bathroom to clean dishes. I had to buy washing up liquid to do that too. There was only two mugs, two tea plates and no bowl for my breakfast cereal. There was no microwave, as had been listed with Sykes, although I got one when I asked and I was given one bowl. I bought a dinner plate so I could eat my meals cooked in the microwave. There was a hot plate but only a frying pan. If I had used the frying pan it would have been very difficult to clean it in the wash basin. All photos of the four "named cottages" show a sofa and a wardrobe in the properties but I had nieither. There was a second bed in my room and so I spread my clothes were across it because there was nowhere to store them and as I was there for a week I had quite a lot with me. I DO NOT THINK THESE PROPERTIES SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE COTTAGES PORTFOLIO AS THEY ARE REALLY JUST HOTEL ROOMS.
