Teal Cottage

What an amazing property!

The views are second to none, with open skies and a wonderfully peaceful setting. The cottage is very well equipped, and the nearby town offers plenty of choice when it comes to supermarkets and places to eat. The only minor point we would mention is the sofa. It may be a little difficult for older guests or those with limited mobility, as it is quite deep with less support and is more of a lie-back style sofa. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend the property!

Beautiful setting, spacious accommodation with everything you need for an idyllic peaceful holiday.

Close enough to supermarkets and take aways with a lovely pub just a short drive away. The cottage owner is friendly and she is always willing to help should it be needed. Wonderful space for pets too. 2 years running and already booked our third for next year.

We had a wonderful stay at Teal Cottage.

The pictures on the website don't do it justice and we were very impressed wth the cleanliness of the property, the quietness of the surroundings and the wonderful views from the patio. Dog friendly too with a good sized enclosed and secure garden. The owners are very helpful and friendly but not intrusive at all. We would certainly recommend Teal Cottage and look forward to returning at a future date.

The cottage was gorgeous and will defo be looking to stay again.

Customer service from Sykes, however, was very mediocre - it was the only downside of the experience. Would look to book the cottage through another provider (if possible) in future.

Stunning and super dog friendly, perfectly peaceful for me and my husband and our two dobermans with plenty of room in the secure garden for them to play.

The owners were lovely and welcoming and the cottage had everything we needed, lovely little extras for us and the dogs on arrival, really spacious cottage and so clean, easy access to dog walks and Melton Park was fabulous for the dogs to be off lead, loads to to in the areas and we had the most restful nights sleep in a comfy bed, with the birds and wildlife around us- lovely, just perfect, you will love it here as will your pooches. Thank you so much. x

Very cosy and well equipped cottage. I’d recommend some thicker curtains in the bedroom for those of us who don’t want to be woke up early by the light coming in! Overall a pleasant stay.

Very warm and welcoming. Loved the Christmas decorations and the lovely treats you left for us and the dog. Very clean and had everything you needed. Loved the log burner Very warm & cosy. Great walks for the dog from the cottage. Great location for us to visit family in Melton Mowbray. We will definitely be back.

Only fault I can give is the beds are not comfortable and the sofa is too low , everything else is amazing and will be going back

A fantastic place to stay both from the perspective of the property which exceeded our expectations and the views were beautiful but also the accessibility to get around and visit other places.

A car is essential as it is not within easy reach of public transport but the peace of the surrounding countryside is wonderful. The owners also provide lots of useful things like tea coffee and cleaning products and other extras that make it a very special place. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Fabulous cottage in a wonderful, peaceful area.

Great views from the patio where you can watch and listen to the wildlife. The cottage is very well equipped and well presented. Dog friendly! Cannot rate it highly enough.

The facilities are spot on with no small detail missed, Joy & Andrew are great hosts and offer great advice on places to visit on any given day. Will definitely be booking again for next year.

We did leave a night early as my mum couldn’t sleep in the bed , as it made noises and was not comfortable.

The room was the one on the left with no bath. Other than that it is a cosy, warm, lovely cottage. Well maintained and looked after.

The accommodation is immaculate, spotless, modern, with well stocked utensils and spacious, very spacious! The view from the cottage is uninterrupted across fields. If you are looking for a quiet, very quiet, location – look no further. We score Teal Cottage with a 10 out of 10.

Teal Cottage was just the perfect find, hidden away in such a peaceful location.

Amazing conversion, was clean and modern, and we loved the high ceilings. It was our first time away as a family of four (with a 4 month old and a 5 year old) and we all had an amazing time! So relaxing just sitting on the comfy sofa whilst looking through the garden doors at the lovely views. Our 5 year old had a very special encounter with a falcon and especially loved watching the tractors. Really friendly hosts, thank you Joy & Andrew for having us.

We walked in and said ‘wow’!

Lovely high ceilings and beautifully appointed throughout. We had everything we needed and a generous welcome basket. Comfortable beds, both bedrooms en-suite. The sofa was a bit low for me but the arm chair was perfect. Fabulous views and enclosed garden for the dog. The written directions work best coming from Melton Mowbray, the ‘Hanson builders’ sign didn’t stand out that well. We found if you put ‘teal cottage’ into iPhone maps it works!

Excellent property well maintained by the owners who were proud of their cottage’s.

Situated in a quiet rural surrounding but close enough to Melton Mowbray and facilities and places of interest to make the stay complete. Owners were so friendly and helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

The cottage is spacious, pretty, and well laid out.

It has everything you need for a lovely week of peace in the countryside. It is a fair distance from the nearest village but the scenery in the area is rural and panoramic. We had a fantastic week there visiting sites in towns and cities nearby.

What a fantastic cottage and holiday, absolutely tranquil location exactly what we needed and couldn’t have wished for better.

We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived and the views of the surrounding area were spectacular. We were able to have lovely walks with our dog Foley and lots of places to visit and explore. Stamford and Market Harborough are just beautiful market towns and definitely worth a visit.

Warm and comfortable.beds rather soft lacking support. Amazing space in living room with great views over countryside. Lacked some Pyrex for cooking .otherwise great cooking facilities and storage space. Lovely bedrooms with clean and modern bathrooms. The owners couldn’t do enough t help with any issues

We’ve just had a fabulous week staying at Teal cottage; we arrived to some lovely goodies for both us & the dog, courtesy of the owners, who we met on a couple of occasions during our stay.

The cottage was clean & comfortable with an enclosed garden, which was perfect for the dog. There were fabulous views outside & walks directly from the doorstep. We have been to the area before so visited Normanton Church, at Rutland Water & Melton Country Park, where there are some lovely walks, as well as Oakland castle & church & we also visited Wymondham, a small lical village, where the Berkeley Arms serves fantastic food & also takes dogs. We would definitely like to return to Teal Cottage again sometime, maybe when it’s a little warmer, but we enjoyed using the Wood burner during our stay. We would highly recommend this property & the area for some much needed relaxation.

Brilliant cottage, great location, very cosy and restful.

We Stopped at this lovely cottage with our 2 Whippets for 9 nights over Xmas.

Having stopped at the cottage next door we knew what to expect. That Is unbelievable cleanliness & country views to die for. You forget that their is a cottage next door & nor are you over looked by the owners. You get a lovely welcome from Joy & is there if needed. Apart from that you are left to it. Which we think is perfect. Well thought out comfortable cottages. Would highly recommend Chris, Jane, Ayto, Alma Far Coton, Warwickshire

This property is beautiful.

It's modern yet cosy and views are to die for. A settee so comfortable I felt like a reclining Cleopatra waiting to be peeled a grape; the bed ... aaah a lovely night's sleep. Everything was there, you cannot fault this Heaven In the Countryside - and an enclosed garden for the dog! When my last day arrived I felt sad. Thank you for such a lovely fortnight, by fat the best property I've stayed in, and I've stayed in a lot.

It is a really lovely cottage and the owners make it extra special. The cottage has been thoughtfully designed and very well equipped. It has beautiful panoramic views across miles of countryside. We were certainly not disappointed!

Teal Cottage is set in a tranquil setting with amazing views from sitting on the patio!

On arrival Cottage was immaculate, fresh flowers in vase,a welcome tray for us! It has everything that you would need for a stay..a few negative comments need to be said though... No hooks on back of doors for hanging items as wardrobe is short and more suitable for men and kids! Sofa is uncomfortable, and low so if of a certain age or suffering with arthritis very hard to get off ..a armchair is needed! Walls are extremely thin so no privacy..could hear people next door as if they were in our Cottage! So

Excellent property with outstanding owners

The property has been developed to a very high standard on which the owners should be considered granulated.

The only small observation is that the sofas arel low and deep so abit difficult to get out of for the older person.But it's a minor problem in the overall scheme of things and would certainly not deter us from returning.

This cottage was perfect apart from the beds which we found too hard for us, but appreciate that is a very personal preference.

The sofa was very deep which didn’t suit us because we’re all quite short, but everything else about the accommodation was ideal. It is in a beautiful location and very quiet, overlooking fields. The garden is fully enclosed, so ideal for our dog who enjoyed pottering about out there. Everything you need is provided and was spotlessly clean. There is adequate parking for two cars if you need it and the owner, who lives in an adjacent property is lovely. The welcome pack was much appreciated.

Teal cottage is a lovely and relaxing place to be, very peaceful and comfortable and with great views out over the fields.

The owners are friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive. Highly recommended - in fact we like it so much we've been there several times!

This was our third stay and we have already booked for next year too!! Beautiful views (even in the rain) but this location is perfect for us to spend our sewing week away - no interruptions, peace & quiet, but close enough to town if we want to go out to restaurants etc. Can't recommend highly enough - thank you

A beautiful property, comfortable and spacious, great views, well equipped and spotlessly clean, friendly owners, everything was exactly as we'd have wanted it to be.

Lovely cottage with wonderful fireplace.

Massive property for the price and great furnishings. Unfortunately we experienced a small fault with the heating during our stay, but when working the under floor heating is divine! Beds and bathrooms are extremely well kept, but walls are thin so no lie ins allowed.

The location, quality and cleanliness of the property was wonderful and the views to die for.

It was great to have a field area next door to throw a ball for our dog in the evening with public footpaths so close. The welcome pack was very welcome. However the beds were very uncomfortable which triggered our decision to come home early plus cottage was very hot with locked themostats so could not decrease the temperate. Had to open doors and windows ... A suggest would to have a move information of the local area in the folder such as places to walk dogs and dog friendly eating places. Our recommendation was Anne of Cleves however needs booking as a small place and dog friendly. Melton Country Park is great for walking the dog. Plus for parking in the area recommend downloading the PaybyPhone App and have it set up.

The cottage is perfect extremely well equipped, a home from home, superb views from all windows,, it’s wonderful conversion. I was taken ill on our last night and joy and Andrew couldn’t do enough to help me, messaged me the next morning to ask how I was,told me not to worry or rush on departure day, also aloud my husband to leave his van there for a couple of days as he had to come a and drive me home.

Only thing we would like is hooks on the backs of the door(s).

We founds beds slightly uncomfortable, but that is personal preference, not a complaint. Welcome pack was great to have. Much appreciated

The property was exactly as described, high standard of cleanliness and a generous welcome tray, including treats for the dogs.

Most of what we needed was provided, the only downside (as a very personal comment) was the settees were rather low and therefore uncomfortable also a larger mirror in the back bedroom would be most useful. But overall a 5 star cottage and would happily return, the enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs.

This was the first time we have visited melton Mowbray and used this cottage - it was amazing - so secluded, private and peaceful Lovely little welcome hamper on arrival which added that personal touch Thank you so much to the owners for this amazing holiday, we can’t wait to come back and enjoy the cottage more!

An amazing place to stay - perfect for our annual meet up.

Well equipped, beautiful surroundings and a wonderful place to chill and recharge the batteries in a stressful world- we will be staying again - it’s our favourite place !!

Our 4th stay, fabulous location and accommodation, total peace and quiet, everything we needed, light , airy, spotlessly clean and comfy.

Once again had no need to use the car as there are so many walks straight from the cottage , highly recommend buying ‘ walking close to Melton Mowbray’ a collection of ten varied and interesting circular walks, some require driving to the start but we have adapted some too. The only reason I would hesitate to recommend Teal Cottage is to keep it a secret ! Its a gem!

This holiday cottage is the best one I have stayed in.

Welcoming, warm and comfortable. It is a relatively new conversion so everything is modern. The furnishings are all good quality. The views from every window are lovely, especially the French doors at the back. I would imagine it's wonderful in warmer weather when you can sit outside for meals and relaxation. A big thank you for the welcome pack and the friendliness of the owners.

Teal Cottage is a lovely place to stay.

Initially struggled to find it as it is tucked away behind the owners property down a long drive off a quiet country lane. Very peaceful and surrounded by local fields. However, not very far from Melton Mowbray at all. The cottage is beautifully decorated - one of 2 barn conversions. Semi detached with its own small garden and enough parking. Modern, very clean and well equipped. Main living area is open plan and very comfortable. Useful entrance hall for muddy boots and coats etc., and w.c. Welcome basket very nice. Owners very helpful. Beds also very comfortable. Both bedtooms have an en suite. The en suite bath, shower rooms are not that big but adequate. (So anyone with mobility issues or who needs a chair in the room might struggle as there is limited space). We had a fabulous stay visiting surrounding local country parks with our dog, Melton Mowbray and the Space Centre in Leicester. Yes we would recommend Teal Cottage. It is a little gem. Only thing that could have improved our stay: softer and fluffy towels. The ones we were provided with were a bit scratchy and hard. Generally, one of the nicer properties we have stayed in.

This was excellent accomodation, well furnished and extremely clean.

The travel directions were clear and worked well. The owners were helpful and friendly. If I needed accomodation in the same area again, I would try here first.

The owners have provided everything you need in Teal Cottage and the addition of goodies for humans and dog very thoughtful. One of the best cottages we have stayed in after many, many years of self catering.

We had a great holiday at Teal Cottage which is one of the most comfortable and well-equipped cottages we have ever stayed in.

Joy and Andrew were the perfect hosts and we enjoyed the goodies they surprised us with. .Being surrounded by beautiful countryside, Teal Cottage really was the ideal place for us just to sit, stare and recharge our batteries! Absolutely beautiful cottage!

Everything was perfect and the owners left goodies including treats for the dogs. Idyllic location yet not too far away from the town and supermarket. Will definitely be staying again!

Our third stay and still as clean, welcoming and tranquil as the first time.

Access to numerous way marked walks from the doorstep. Beautiful views. Owner on hand but not at all intrusive. Quality of the property, the furnishings, fittings, beds, showers , heating, lighting, cooking facilities, washing machine, dishwasher, bins, fully enclosed garden with furniture all unusually high and very welcome. If you like peace and quiet and lovely walks this is an opportunity to leave the car abandoned for entire stay, walk to Kirby Bellars, Burton Lazars, Burrough Hill etc. Try ‘10 circular walks in and around Melton Mowbray’ a little green book available online costs less than a fiver, having said that on an earlier visit we did visit The Space Centre, Melton town, Melton country park, Foxton Locks, farm shop & cafe, theres plenty to visit if you are not walkers too.

Everything you could need was there, and the finish was very high. The cottage is close to lots of interesting places, whatever your interests, but felt very private and quiet. Joy greeted us when we arrived, and was in hand if needed, and the welcome pack was very nice!

Beautiful Cottage with fantastic countryside views.

Teal cottage is a lovely conversation of an old barn with all the amenities you would want for a perfect stay. Very clean, tidy and airy with all modern appliances. The welcome packs for us and our dog were amazing. Joy and Andrew were exceptionally good hosts and made us feel very welcome. The fully fenced garden for our dog was a real bonus. Lots of local walks and lovely dog friendly country pubs. Looking forward to our return visit.

3 toilets. Lovely view. Lots of walks, some straight from cottage. Many nearby villages with good pubs for food. Close to Rutland Water. A GENUINE ENCLOSED GARDEN FOR DOGS.

This semi detached cottage was an amazing find.

A relatively new conversion and really well presented. It was surrounded by open countryside but lots to do around and about. The hosts Joy and Andrew made us feel really welcome and left us a fantastic welcome pack which was very much enjoyed. We will definitely go back and would recommend the cottage to everyone.

Very clean and tidy. Lovely welcome pack from the owner. Situated in working farm land so expect farm traffic and some smells. Air fresheners are provided by the owners. Lovely views and walks. Dogs very welcome and catered for. Just about wheelchair friendly. Bathrooms a bit tight for the wheelchair. Lip on doors ok, I think the owner has a ramp if required. We managed the door threshold without the ramp.

Lovely barn conversion.

If you are using a wheelchair, there is a small step over the threshold of the door. The bathrooms are tight if not impossible for a wheelchair. My wife could manage as she can transfer and use crutches for small distances. The owner has ramps if required. Lovely welcome pack when we arrived. Note. If you are not used to it, you are surrounded by working farm fields and they may be using muck to fertilise the soil. This can cause a pungent odour! I wondered why there was an auto air freshener in the hallway. This only happens a couple of times a year. Fantastic walks close buy. Shops and takeaway food within a short distance.

Beautiful cottage,.

Really well looked after and spotlessly clean. Perfect location for walking and relaxing. Lovely and quiet.

The barn was much much bigger than expected.

Spotless and bright and airy and views stunning. Great for dogs. Every appliance you need for cooking available. The welcome basket was amazing. Good location for visiting Rutland water and surrounding villages. Be great for cycling as plenty of room to store bikes and little village lanes to explore We are already looking at dates to return to take our bikes

Warm clean cosy cottage. Met our needs perfectly. We intend to return. The owners have made a great cottage facility

Gorgeous cottage.

The welcome pack was unexpected and the Christmas decorations were lovely. Lovely dog walks from the cottage and the owners were there to greet us and were helpful when we needed them. Rutland Waters and Eye Kettleby lakes we went to a couple of times. Plenty of walks there and plenty of activities too. We will be returning.

We had a lovely relaxing break away at Christmas.

Teal cottage was very clean, comfortable, and modern. It had everything we wanted. Home from home. The enclosed garden was ideal for the dog. Joy and Andrew had unexpectedly decorated the cottage for Christmas, a lovely touch. I would recommend Teal cottage, and hope to return in the future.

You would have to be a seriously sad individual to find anything wrong or to complain about with this wonderful cottage.

I even got a Birthday card!!! 21st of course.
