  • “Barn End served as the perfect base to explore the beautiful local countryside on our bikes.”

The Wolds are close by, as is the city of Lincoln, and quiet country roads made for some excellent cycling. The cottage is beautifully homely and cosy, and well-equipped with everything you need. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful and their recommended trip to Doddington Hall for the carrot cake was well worth it.

A quaint and homely abode, Barn End is a true delight of a property from which to base your exploration of Lincolnshire with your loved ones It’s just 10 minutes from the delights of historic Lincoln, where after a busy day, you can go to sleep to the hoot of owls and wake up to the song of Blackbirds, truly, the best of both worlds.

Inside, the all-ground-floor cottage offers a traditional interior, while outside you can expect to be surrounded by stunning countryside views, making this dwelling the perfect place for your idyllic retreat.

Step inside the sitting room and admire the array of stylish and traditional furniture, inviting you to settle down in front of the Smart TV or DVD, as the warmth of the wood-burning stove lights up the room creating a homely ambiance.

Move through into the kitchen/diner with an excellent array of appliances to help you prepare your meals, including an electric oven and induction hob, microwave and fridge and coffee maker, so everything you need to prepare a meal for 4, for those splashy rainy days, there is also the convenience of a washing machine.

At the end of the day, choose from two bedrooms to rest your head There is a master king-size bedroom boasting its own en-suite bathroom and traditional vaulted and beamed ceiling, and velux window where you can star gaze from the sumptuous brass bed and wonder at Lincolnshire unspoilt night skies, there is an equally elegant double room served by a second bathroom, which provides a great sleeping arrangement for a couple, pair of couples or family.

In the mornings, the private lawn makes the perfect place to soak in the countryside scenery with a cup of coffee, before packing up a picnic and heading out into the local countryside or perhaps wander down to the private riverbank and sit and gaze at the swans floating by from the owners jetty, the perfect private get away, fishing is free in season, so bring your rods!

Nearby Saxilby hosts all the amenities you need for a self-catered stay, including pubs, cafe’s, supermarket and Post Office, as well as a railway station providing good links to Lincoln, the next stop along the line, so ideal if planning a day sight- seeing without the constraints of car parking.

Lincoln is a magical city, both modern and vibrant but also, incredibly historic, with its imposing Cathedral on the hill which towers over the medieval quarter and its Castle housing an original copy of the Magna Carta, walled walks and museums.

For a truly scenic experience, head to the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or simply appreciate your surroundings from the comfort of Barn End.
