Shepherd's Cottage

Our week at shepherds cottage went far too fast.

What a great find. Peaceful, remote, cosy, no roads or traffic. I could go on. It was utter bliss. Thank you Ann, lovely to meet you. So lovely for the dogs too. No escaping for them, so secure, but surrounded by lovely fields that they could enjoy. We cannot fault it in any way. Just make time go slower.

We had such a lovely stay.

The surroundings were beautiful, the cottage was comfortable, cosy and had everything we needed. And who knew the Lincolnshire beaches were so stunning. We will definitely be back again.

Excellent dog friendly accommodation.

Clean. Comfy beds (not for pets, but there is a space in the kitchen perfect for a dog crate). Lovely views. Peaceful (unless you count the bird tht some mornings was very vocal). Anne (owner) is very friendly and helpful.

Shepherd’s cottage is a little piece of paradise!

Pure isolation - you hear endless bird song, barking foxes and bees buzzing thanks to the delightful setting of this lovely cottage. There is an abundance of wildlife, more butterflies and moths than I’ve ever seen anywhere. We had perfect weather for June, once the heatwave broke! Lots of walks from the cottage for the dogs to enjoy and for us to discover. If you want a week of peace and quiet, the most stunning views from a large, wrap around and dog proof garden then this the place for you. The cottage is comfortably furnished with quality items, and well laid out. We spent the majority of our stay outside in the garden thanks to perfect weather, just taking in the abundance of wildlife, the glorious views and all the wildflowers in the surrounding meadows. I can see why Ann gets so many repeat visitors. Our next stay is already booked in!

Great little cottage in an amazing situation.

Clean and well equipped, Ideal for people who like to bring their dogs with them. Plenty of walks on the door step too. Owners friendly, but not intrusive.

Shepherds Cottage was a pure delight.

We arrived in warm sunny weather and were blown away by the view and the gorgeous garden. The house itself is perfectly proportioned and spotlessly clean. Well provided throughout for everything you could need. The cows and their calves that came to visit us over the fence delighted our daughter and she had many long conversations with them. The only thing i would change would be the very heavy feather duvet, it was way too much for the warm room and did make sleeping difficult when it was warm in the bedroom. A gorgeous house in a beautiful private location and we are definitely planning on returning. The owner very kindly bought us some chair cushions for outside and left us some delicious plum bread that we all enjoyed. A real gem of a place.

The accommodation was perfect and made a great base for our holiday in Lincolnshire.

Ann, the owner, was extremely helpful and the cottage was clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to anyone.

Spotlessly clean and perfect for dogs. Garden is fenced right the way round and plenty of space for dogs to enjoy outside. The house was beautifully warm even in the depths of winter. Very well equipped and everything thought of for a comfortable stay. Location is a great base for touring the wolds and the towns nearby. The host, Ann was on hand for any questions. Would recommend

We made a last minute booking as we had some difficult things to sort out in the area close by.

It provided us with total peace to recharge at the end of the day for which we were very grateful. Warm perfectly clean , comfortable and in a lovely setting. Would love to return in happier circumstances. The owner was lovely too.

This cottage is fantastic if you want to get away from it all.

We went just after New Year and it was freezing outside. The cottage was cosy and warm. The kitchen is really well equipped and the large enclosed gardens perfect for our two dogs to safely run around in. As the cottage is set back down its own track, there is no light pollution or noise. We enjoyed pitch black star filled skies and owls hooting in the adjoining fields. We loved it

A fantastic quiet get away for some much needed relaxation.

The cottage is very well equipped and in a fantastic location. We have a big dog who enjoyed the large enclosed garden and watching the wildlife through the fence and out of patio doors in the living room. Louth is a great town and we spent a lot of our time exploring the area or heading straight out of the door onto public footpaths in some extremely scenic and peaceful fields and walkways. Ann and Alan ( who we met and was extremely friendly, we hope you get the shed fixed!) are so helpful and offered to help and even rescue us should we get lost on the way in as we arrived late at night, we didn’t as the instructions she gave on finding the cottage lead us straight to the gateway and even messaged me to say she’d post out some belongings we’d left, we hadn’t even realised we hadn’t come home with. We’ll be sure to visit again in the summer to make the most of the outdoor seating and again around bonfire night to escape the fireworks as our dog is quite nervous and we didn’t hear a single one Thank you to Ann and Alan we’ll be sure to see you soon

A beautiful cottage with everything you need.

Quiet and peaceful with plenty of walking routes for our dogs. This is a home from home where we can recharge our batteries and relax. We have already rebooked!

The cottage is set in the most beautiful and peaceful location, with 360 degree countryside views.

It has everything you could possible need. The cottage was welcoming, clean and comfortable. The garden is superb and mostly secure, I say mostly as our tiny chihuahua got under the fence wire, walking around the cattle grid to go and see the cows! It is in an ideal place for visiting surrounding areas including Skegness and Mablethorpe. We would not hesitate to book again, one of our favourite cottages we have stayed in over the years!

Hi, The cottage was lovely.

It was in the perfect location, fantastic views and amazing bird life. Ideal for a little peace & quiet. Ideal position and not far from all coastal areas and beautiful beaches. The cottage is in a wonderful position in peaceful surroundings.

It is well equipped and our dogs Buzz and Rex enjoyed the large wrap around garden. The owner was very helpful.

Our third visit and, as before, the cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable.

This stay was all the more enjoyable as we had several days with temperatures in the mid 20°s. Having only been in winter before, it was great to be able to sit outside and enjoy the view from this secluded and peaceful spot.

A beautiful,well appointed cottage.

Great quality bedding, towels, the kitchen had everything you would need, also of a high quality. An amazing location so quiet,a few walkers,and the wildlife, including muntjac deer, hares, rabbits, wild geese,pheasants and lots of other birds. The location is perfect for the Wolds,and the coastline. We book through Sykes a couple of times a year and Shepherds Cottage was definitely one of the best. Thank you to our hosts,we would love to visit again.

A delightful cottage in the middle of a field, crossing two cattle grids to get through the gate into the property.

You can see other houses, but only just. It is that quiet, with regard to people and road noise. Greylag geese and RAF jets, both of which are no great surprise in Lincolnshire, are what we heard most. And the aircraft were feeling and far between. The cottage is well equipped to a very high standard, cosy, with a great view through the french windows, and a joy to relax in.

We had a wonderful stay at Shepherd's Cottage.

The kitchen was well equipped (with some lovely thoughful extra treats), the lounge area is great and extra cosy with the fire going. The bedrooms are cosy with incredibly comfy beds. The enclosed garden was excellent for our dog and gave her plenty of space to run about and investigate! The flooring was also perfect for her with great grip as she has an arthritic leg. Instructions left in the cottage were clear and communication was great from the owners. Thank you!

Perfect, clean, cosy and comfortable

We only booked for a long weekend, but wished we'd booked longer, the cottage was just what we needed, so peaceful and cosy.

The cottage has well equipped kitchen, the bed was comfortable, we stayed in December (during storm darragh) the cottage was warm and cosy. The views from the cottage are stunning from every window, we'd love to go back in the summer so we could sit outside with a glass (or two) and take in the beautiful vista. Great dog walks on your door step, my two loved it. This was a great place to totally unwind and de-stress. 10/10 from us...

We love the peaceful location and we (and the dogs) love the walks. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need. Would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful week.

The cottage was amazing. It was so comfortable. Everything we needed was there. The surrounding area was beautiful.

Had a totally relaxing break at Shepherds cottage.

Bed linen was crisp, clean and delightful. With very comfy beds, slept soundly ! Kitchen has everything that you could possibly need, with thoughtful extras to make your stay more relaxing. Additional freezer definitely makes food storage easier. Particularly impressed by the additional safety measures in place, additional safety keys and window restrictors in place. We didn’t need to use the log burner but everything was in place to make the use of it easy - including additional logs if required. The under floor heating kept the cottage so warm and cosy that we had to turn the heating down. Shepherds cottage is perfect for a relaxing stay in a beautifully restored cottage in a location that gives you a peaceful, restful break without being remote. The views are stunning, with easy access to lots of walking opportunities directly from the cottage. The garden is perfectly secure for dog's, always a worry when booking but the garden is perfect. The additional dog towels, treats and hose were perfect for our spaniels after spending time on the nearby beach

What a wonderful property, one of the best we've stayed in.

Lovely little cottage with very helpful owners, nice little touches like milk and tea and the house was very warm.

We did have a few niggles. When we arrived the house wasn't very clean, we moved the sofa an inch when we sat in it and it showed hair and crumbs where it hadn't been hoovered properly. There were also hairs in the shower which was off putting. It also smelt very strongly of dog which made me feel that the floors weren't mopped, we've never had that in a dog friendly property before which was a shame. We also struggled a little with the velux windows in the bedrooms not having a blackout blind on them. It was a bit like sleeping with the curtains open but perhaps that's personal preference. The living room was a bit uncomfortable, the sofa is, I think, broken, you fall down the back of it when you sit in it and the wicker chair is very uncomfortable. Our only other bug bear was the fact that there is a public footpath that runs alongside the house. That is not down to the owners at all, however, having people walking along your back garden fence (no idea where they were going!) is not ideal. The small picket fences provide no privacy from the people we had gawping in to the house and the kitchen. I can imagine it's far worse in the summer and whilst a larger fence would obstruct the views I would personally prefer the privacy. Overall it's a nice property in a nice area but definitely needs a little bit of an upgrade in parts.

We had a wonderful stay.

The cottage was cosy, clean, well equipped and very warm - we ended up turning the radiators right down upstairs despite Storm Isha raging outside. The cottage is ideally situated to easily reach lots of places in Lincolnshire and handy for an excellent meal at the Railway too.

We appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of the cottage.

The Instructions for lighting the fire were clear (and perfect!). The extra logs were welcome. The kitchen was very well equipped. We cooked every night and wished we had more people to cater for! The only thing that would have improved our stay - and this is marginal - would have been some notes on local walks. We researched a few, plus places to see, but a local person's view would have been welcome. The cottage situation is between the wolds and the sea - perfect for any time of year.

Our second visit to this delightful cottage - very well appointed in all respects and situated in a beguiling rural spot.

Cottage very clean and in lovely surroundings the only criticism I have is that the seating in the lounge area could be improved but appart from that first class

Lovely cottage. Super stay. Country styles a bit tricky for older spaniel, hole with a pull up stick would allow him to walk through. Local pub a short walk on quiet roads or across fields. Friendly and very good food. Would always recommend shepherd's cottage.

Absolutely beautiful cottage .

. beautiful location .. very dark..very quiet .. just perfect. We spent two weeks at the cottage and it was lovely. Very well equipped, we didn't want for anything. Would definitely stay there again

If you enjoy peace and quiet this is the place to be we have returned twice now clean and excellent attention to detail very comfy bed two things which would make it perfect no toilet upstairs not ideal having to come downstairs at night also flies are a problem you have to accept on a farm with cows in field we brought our own electric fly zapper with us this helped a lot would be a good addition this did not spoil our relaxing and happy holiday there

The cottage was clean and neverything you needed, apart you as Sykes asked for it to be left clean and tidy, there was no vacuum cleaner or mop and bucket of even a duster, Both my husband and I found this very unusual as everywhere we had stayed there has been these items, we took 2 long haired border collies with us, which no matter how much you brush them there is always hair about, even although I have hard floors down stairs I hoover every day (even Christmas day) because although I love my dogs and would not be without them I cannot stand hair about and we have had long haired collies for about 35 years.

We therefore bought a small cordless vacuum cleaner so we could clean up, the owner did ask if we wanted the cleaner to come in on the middle part of our holiday to clean (this was a week before we arrived but I did say no I would clean myself as it was no problem, but I thought there would have been a vacuum, mop and bucket etc) We enjoyed our stay apart from the cleaning equipment not been accessible, we found the seating area very uncomfortable, as other guests have stated perhaps if there was better chairs etc we would return but alas no, also the bins outside was full on our arrival, we asked for them to be emptied but was not in our 2 week stay, so we had to take some rubbish to Tesco's recycling bins in Mablethorpe. Perhaps some issues could be looked at, the owner and her son are nice and we did enjoy the stay.

Lovely cottage in super location.

This was our second time at the cottage, and every bit as enjoyable as the first.

It is remote enough to be quiet, but not so far that 'the world' is too far away. It is really well equipped...no it is really thoughtfully equipped - what I mean is there are plenty of cottages that have 'ticked all the boxes' but not thought things through from a visitor perspective (eg there is a dishwasher...and 4 mugs, so it needs running 3 times a day ..or just wash in the sink). This place is really well thought through. A delight to stay at (and the owners are great, really helpful). The addition of the EV charger since our last visit was much appreciated, charge overnight rather than waste holiday hunting for charge. It totally deserves its' high rating.

Decor is subtle, comfort is off the radar and the locality is perfect, for those wanting tranquility. I had a relatively long stay, as a lone woman, and never felt unsafe. Ann and Alan were always friendly, and on hand to assist with any queries and problems. My dogs loved the spacious garden and I had everything I needed for a peaceful getaway.

This cottage is arguably the best cottage that we have ever stayed in.

The peace is second to none and it feels so private. The wonderful log burner kept us toasty warm for the two chilly nights that we were away, and the owner was more than happy for us to use as much wood as we required, will most certainly be returning.

This is our second visit to Shepherd's Cottage.

It is an excellent choice. The cottage is very well converted and maintained to a high standard, being very clean and super warm (we were there in winter) with a great log burner and logs are included. It is secluded and very quiet. You really want for nothing, there is a dishwasher and a washing machine with a utility room ideal for wet clothes etc. There is good communication with the owner and any problems (we had a stuck bathroom sink plug!) are dealt with promptly. Two excellent double bedrooms and a walk in downstairs toilet and shower room with loads of very hot water.Downstairs is a spacious kitchen/diner/lounge with high spreed internet and a good TV & DVD

Shepherd's Cottage has been thoughtfully renovated and refurbished to make a very clean and comfortable holiday home.

The kitchen area is very well equipped but without the unnecessary clutter found in so many places, which can be so annoying when there's nowhere to store food - no such problem here! We found the beds particularly comfortable. The cottage is in a wonderful location offering unspoilt country views, pleasant walks from the doorstep and, best of all, tranquility. Also perfectly placed for exploring the Wolds and coast.

Our 3rd visit but 1st with our new puppy.

Everything was as we remembered, very clean, friendly and helpful owner. We had a great stay in what can only be described as a 5 star property, with great days out locally which can be reached by car or on foot!

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting renovated to a high standard.

Well equipped kitchen and smart tv and usb points were appreciated - tv especially for evenings in. We came to avoid the fireworks as the dog is terrified of loud noises and we didn’t hear any. Close enough to the coast as dog loved the beach for walks, and handy enough for other little towns to visit.

Everything to a very high standard.

Fabulously located, very clean and well supplied. Perhaps condense the crockery and glasses to allow kitchen cupboard space for guest food. Cannot fault this wonderful cottage.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful cottage and will definitely book again, even the drive down to the cottage from the road is lovely as it stands alone in the field.

Everything we needed was there for all of us, including our dog who appreciated the treats as well. Thank you so much for making our stay wonderful.

). Facilities were what we needed and not too far away from villiages nearby. It was a quiet, relaxing week away and will definitely go back.

Delightful cottage.

Very comfortable with everything you need. NO CARPET, wonderful for dogs especially ones that are dirt magnets! Thoughtful welcome treats for them and humans. The beds were superb. It was a wonderful peaceful stay, a great retreat from our rather noisier village! Have booked again immediately.

Delighted on entering property cleanliness excellent furnishings are all of good quality every detail thought of ie.

plenty of crockery so dishwasher can be used shower has a slip proof floor which I find a benefit as being elderly don’t want to slip and many showers are so slippery a good wood pile at no extra cost tv in each room bedrooms fantastic with king size beds couldn’t fault it so peaceful nature all around have booked for next year before we left and the owner is quick to help you with any queries

Very clean and comfortable would definitely recommend to others and stay again. Very modern inside but still with the original tradition. Owners are very kind and welcoming leaving chocolate in the fridge along with milk and cake. A beautiful touch.

Loved the secure area for the dogs! Some very thoughtful little touches too which we really appreciated. A couple of fans and maybe some top sheets would have been great for the heat wave as the duvets were really hot!

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful setting, surrounded by fields.

Our grandkids and dog loved being outdoors whether in the fields or in the large garden. We were very lucky in that the sun shone for the whole week. Spotlessly clean and everything we needed to make our holiday perfect. Nice comfortable beds were much appreciated. There were even some toys for our grandkids to enjoy in the garden. Nice welcome pack of tea, coffee, plum bread (which was delicious) and some chocolate for the kids. Our Labrador wasn’t left out either, there was a ball and some treats for him. We met Ann, the owner, on our first evening who was lovely, she checked with us that everything was ok and told us to ring if we had any problems. I can honestly say that this is the best cottage we have stayed in. Would love to return. Highly recommend.

Lovely property one of the best we have stayed in.

The whole place has been done out to a high standard and had everything you needed. The garden was great for sitting out enjoying the piece and quiet and the views were lovely too. It was also very dog friendly. The owners are very nice and helped us out when we had a little car trouble which was much appreciated. Will be going back.

We have nothing bad to say about Shepherds Cottage, it's beautifully finished, immaculately clean and the host could not have been more helpful.

The house is surrounded by the most fantastic views and lovely cows. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and may even return ourselves.

Great cottage

I am at a loss to understand why this is graded by Sykes as 4 stars not 5 - the visitors seem to, and so do we.

We joked that we needed to come up with a 'negative' point for the review, and the best I could come up with was that the time in the microwave was set 3 mins slow!! - it really is absolutely superb, setting, facilities, state of repair etc. We are just trying to tie down the date of one event next May, and when we know that, we will be booked again. An absolute gem, I can see why it is so popular

Great cottage in a great location.

We'll equipped, light and spacious. If it's peace and quiet you're after this will not disappoint. All you can here is the abundance of wildlife. I would definitely recommend and visit again. On a slight negative, which would make it 10/10, would be a fridge freezer and slight more comfortable sofa/chairs

All first class

The cottage was exactly as described and extremely clean and comfortable.

Our second visit to this gorgeous cottage and yet again it didn't disappoint.

The cottage is as listed, with great facilities, and just the place to relax and recharge the batteries. Great days out along the Lincolnshire coast and inland at Gunby Hall and Louth. We're already looking at dates for our third visit!

This is an amazing peaceful place to stay, cant recommend it enough!

The weekend was due to be for a special 50th birthday celebration and the owner was very accommodating about prior arrival of balloons and cake etc but there were sudden, unexpected changes to my booking, the owner was amazing about it and very kind. Will definitely be booking again!

Loved the property.

So so comfortable, bright, warm and so enjoyable to stay. The owners were brilliant and friendly. The property is stunning. The views are gorgeous. You had the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere but with all the modern amenities you could ever need. Myself and my daughter loved our stay and I would not only recommend staying here, I would love to stay again. In a beautiful setting and part of the UK! Wonderful!

What a location, surrounded by wildlife and no other sound to be heard. Lovely little touches that make the difference between a good and great stay, especially the chocolate bars, what a surprise and a treat they were. Whilst we’d brought our own, the doggie bowls, towels and shower hose were a thoughtful addition. It was nice to meet and chat with Ann, the owner, too. Just wish we had been able to sit outside and take in the evening air but being the first week in March it was a tad chilly! We’ve already recommended it to friends.

We stayed at this cottage many times years ago before the renovation.

What a change! A very comfortable, cosy cottage with everything we needed. The seclusion was just what we needed and to see and hear the nature around us was wonderful. Some lovely walks taken around the area.

Immaculately Clean comfortable and walking from the door if you have a Dog.. Nearby Pubs were a delight .One of the best cottages we have stayed in in.. nearly 40 Years of Holidaying..

Add the cleanliness and it's a must visit cottage. And with the beach, and the historical visits to the Lincoln, and Coningsby airfield, housing the Lancaster bomber along with a number of spitfires, it has something to offer everyone. All said, it's just a fantastic cottage, and location to stay.

This is an excellent property.

Being recently converted to a high standard it is very comfortable and warm. It was spotlessly clean and everything worked.The location is great, being very very quiet with lovely views over the surrounding countryside and the patio (with double doors out from the property) is South and West facing giving great sunsets. Beds were very comfortable and the walk in shower was excellent with lashings of hot water. We would recommend it without reservation to anyone wanting a peaceful break at any time of the year.

Outstanding - first class all round.

Beautiful, quiet location with 360 views of fields and trees. We could hear deer and owls at night, and felt so snug what with the underfloor heating and cosy log fire. I can't say that there was anything negative about our experence; the cottage is a real gem and we would most definitely return at the drop of a hat. The owners left us a hand written letter as well as a generous welcome basket which included quality tea, coffee bags and a tasty cake. Simply divine.

This was one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

The owner had provided everything we needed and was very thoughtful too. We had a lovely relaxing week especially enjoying the walks from the door. We were lucky with the weather too. The only little thing we missed was a bigger freezer but we did find a new Tesco supermarket in Mablethorpe not too far away so it wasnt really a problem. Would love to return one day.

Small but perfect cottage away from everywhere!

Pure heaven!

The cottage, surrounded by attractive countryside, provides excellent accommodation.

There are plenty of local walks and the garden is very dog-friendly. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend Shepherd’s Cottage, without hesitation.

What an awesome cottage, beautifully presented, very well laid out, with everything you could need and with incredible 360 degree views of the countryside.

So peaceful and the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring Lincolnshire, and there is so much to do in the area! The secure garden was great for the dog to roam in and the shower is lush. We were greeted with some very thoughtful gifts on arrival, including a scrumptious cake, thank you. Can't recommend it enough!

Beautiful cottage in a tranquil setting.

We really enjoyed our week at Shepherd's Cottage.

A lovely spot itself and a great base for exploring Lincolnshire. It's about ~20 mins drive to a whole range of attractions: market towns, the seaside, a National Trust property, and places for walks. Cottage was really clean when arrived, key pickup super easy, kitchen is well kitted out, beds comfy, and wifi worked well. Lots of time spent sat out in the garden, fence on the garden useful for keeping our exploring toddler safe.

What a lovely little cottage.

The pictures look nice but it still doesn't do justice to the cottage. The views over the fields is beautiful and it is in a nice quiet spot (though we did have one night with planes flying over quite late but nothing that can be done about that and only 1 night). The water mill down the road is lovely, had an afternoon tea there after a walk overlooking the pond there. We will definitely be considering staying here again, especially at such a reasonable price for the quality of cottage.

... Only noise is from the cows...sheep....and birds... Lovely pub and cafe a short drive or nice walk away from both. Would recommend a stay here 1000%.

What a fantastic holiday!

We can’t stop talking about how fabulous this place is. The location is going to be very hard to beat. 360 degree panoramic views of beautiful rolling countryside, with no sound of traffic allows your ears to bathe in the natural sounds of the animals, wildlife and flowing water of the stream. The accommodation has been stylishly fitted out to a very high standard with no corner cutting. Everything was super clean and comfortable. To top it off Ann has been a lovely host, responding quickly and friendly on the few occasions we had questions. She also provided us with some really handy local knowledge and recommendations of attractions. You can’t ask for anything more. We’re already talking about our next visit. Thanks so much :)

The cottage was exactly as described and such a relaxing experience from start to finish.

Communication with both Sykes and the cottage owner was clear and timely. The cottage had everything we wanted and as described. Surrounded by fields so very peaceful and plenty of walks in the surrounding area, even direct from your front door. We very much look forward to visiting again!
