  • "I was not happy with the cleanliness of this cottage, sadly."

    As a nurse, I cannot help being aware of infection control issues . On arrival, although the windows were open, there was an overwhelming smell of air freshener , which did little to mask the underlying smell of damp/ mustiness. There was dust on the towel rail in the cloakroom Dirty marks on the paintwork , skirting board on the stairs Chipped crockery Greasy crockery, cooking utensils , cutlery A dishwasher in the kitchen would be beneficial in ensuring that these items are properly cleaned . Although the quality of the cutlery was not good and had wooden handles, so might not fare well was he din a dishwasher . Oven and cooker need cleaning Out of date and unlabelled food pouches in the cupboards Corkscrew which was bent beyond being useful Shower head needs a very good clean or replacing Dirty table mats House did not hold the heat in the evenings , so we were cold. There were throws on each of the chairs, probably to use when cold, but I was not confident that they are cleaned between guests so did not use them . There were dehumidifier pots throughout the house The wallpaper in the bathroom is peeling off A neighbour’s dog kept yapping and barking early morning so this did not lead to a peaceful stay, but that was the least of the problems . The welcome pack is woeful and consisted of a packet of not so nice shortbread biscuits and a very cheap bottle of nondescript wine, which we left . It would have been more welcoming and useful had this pack included teabags and milk. The nearest shop is 6 miles away and this was arrival was late on a Sunday afternoon. We did have milk with us and found 5 teabags remaining in a box in the cupboard . A chance to showcase Yorkshire produce , eg Yorkshire tea bags , Yorkshire made biscuits . Not quite sure why there is a dish of used ring pulls from cans gathering dust I have left my comments in the visitors book there which, I am sorry to say are all negative .

    Coastguard cottage is clean, spacious and well equipped with all you'll need for a extremely relaxing stay. The enclosed gated garden is a must for us with ours dogs.

    The treats left for us and the dogs were very welcome. Beach is about a 10 - 15 minute walk away

    Very dog friendly, the back garden was totally secure. A short walk from the beach. The welcome bottle of wine, biscuits and dog chews were a lovely touch. Will definitely be booking again.

Nestled in the small village of Easington, opposite a beautiful church, is this lovely Victorian terrace, Coastguard Cottages.

This pet-friendly home welcomes families and friends looking for a quiet coastal escape to East Riding of Yorkshire.

Enter inside, where on your right you will find the sitting room, hosting plush sofas, a Smart TV and a large bay window for natural light.

The kitchen/diner has contemporary amenities to prepare home-cooked meals, with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a washing machine.

Gather at the dining table to catch-up on the days' adventures or head outside to the rear garden, with a large decking/pergola to savour a glass of wine in the sunshine.
