  • "Anyone thinking of restoring a small property should stay here first to see how to absolutely maximise use of space to provide a perfect home, never mind holiday cottage."

(Forget the Ch4 George Clarke; tiny spaces - this is the real how to do it show home!)

  • "Beautiful cozy little cottage newly renovated to a very high standard."

This is not just a holiday let but very obviously a labour of love. The attention to detail is excellent, speaking from experience of many many cottage holidays the welcome pack is second to none. Although we went in winter and didn't use the garden much we could see that it would be a lovely relaxing area to spend time on days when you just want to chill. Look after this lovely place as the owners clearly cherish it. Many thanks, Terry & Lou

  • "Hangman’s Cottage was near perfect."

The only suggestion we have is about maybe providing recycling bins. We loved the cottage and spent at least two hours every day in the summer house reading which was so comfortable. We loved the garden in the Autumn sunshine Everything about the property is so tasteful and so thoughtful. Brilliantly put together by the owner.

Catherine, thank you for choosing to stay at Hangman's cottage, what a wonderful review. It is so pleasing to know the finer details added to the cottage and garden were appreciated and maybe made your stay a little more special. Your suggestion for the provision of re cycling bins by the way is something we have been intending to do, so a very welcomed prompt! We have just received delivery and these will now be in place very shortly. Feedback from our guests is sincerely valued, and we appreciate you taking the time to do so. It was a pleasure to host your stay in Horncastle. Property Owner

The host provided an informative collection of local knowledge to visit . The wifi was the best we have had in the UK full marks there . Even though it is next to the road , with the garden walls and double glazed windows no cars could be heard , my wife particularly liked the garden summer house and garden area . Would I stay again yes , but it would be for two weeks Thank you Joy and James

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location short walk from the town centre."

The cottage has been recently renovated and is very high spec, well equipped and very tastefully furnished. We stay in a lot of rental cottages and this ranks highly as there is a quality mattress and bedding, all mod cons in the kitchen and a really good shower. Super welcome pack as well, everything is thought of. Best of all is the secluded cottage garden and summer house, and depending on the season there's fresh fruit and veg in the garden. We were lucky and parked in the adjacent layby. This is next to a busy road and that is the only down-side, but secondary glazing keeps the noice out unless you want the bedroom window open. It didn't disturb our sleep. All in all we'd highly recommend it.

Ian, thank you so much for the review - it's great to know you were so impressed overall with Hangman's Cottage. We love that it is so close to all the amenities of the town centre and at the same time time boasts a 'secret' garden within the beautiful surroundings of the conservation area (especially the church tower with its clock chimes) Pleased to hear you were able to park directly outside, there are generally spaces available -and that the close proximity of Jubilee way didn't cause any nuisance is reassuring to know. Oh, and "ranked highly" - that's fabulous- thank you!! Property Owner

  • "A hidden gem of a cottage."

The owners have skillfully made the best use of every bit of the space available to ensure a great experience. The attention to detail was second to none and we appreciated the many little touches. So much thought has been taken to ensure you want for nothing. The garden was also delightful and we spent many hours just relaxing in the summerhouse; sewing, reading and just listening to the radio. The perfect place to explore the surrounding area and recharge your batteries!

Thank you for the wonderful review Louise, it is especially pleasing to hear you appreciated the homely feel of Hangman's Cottage. We are so glad you had an enjoyable and relaxing break - we find the walled garden and summerhouse is the perfect place to unwind even during the cooler months. • "Beautiful cottage and all the extra personal touches that were provided made us feel very welcome."

Lovely garden and summerhouse that we were able to use despite the showery weather and great to be able to pick fresh salad growing in the garden. We agree with some of the previous visitors that the bedroom is very comfortable but compact, so it is advisable not to bring too much luggage and the sofa could be a little bigger.

Susan, we are so pleased you felt welcomed at Hangman's Cottage - thank you for leaving a review and for your lovely guestbook comments and recommendations. It is good to hear you found the cottage comfortable, bearing in mind it is compact & characterful - your input regarding the sofa is sincerely appreciated, we are presently reconfiguring and a larger sofa is on order..! Its a shame you had inclement weather during your stay but so glad you made the most of the lovely garden and summerhouse , regardless. Property Owner

We had no problems parking in the lay-by and it is full of extra touches eg fresh veg to pick from the garden, barbecue materials, shaded and sunny outdoor seating, and plenty more. Don't bring too much luggage as the space is limited indoors, but we will definitely be coming again to explore the area further from this delightful cottage.

We are so pleased to know you you enjoyed your stay at Hangman's Cottage-and so thrilled to see your fantastic comments and extremely positive feedback in the guest book, especially as it was the very first entry! It was such a hot, dry week weatherwise, so thank you so much for making yourselves completely at home by watering the new additions to to the garden, all now well established and looking fantastic! The property

Nestled on the edge of the conservation area, down a pedestrianised cobbled street in the centre of Horncastle, just a stone’s throw from a range of shops, restaurants, and pubs, lies this quaint, yet thoughtfully-arranged property, Hangman’s Cottage.

Tastefully furnished with a superb walled garden with a summerhouse, Hangmans Cottage offers a romantic bolthole for couples looking to access this bustling, historic market town.

Step into the lounge, complete with antique sofa, Smart TV and woodburning stove, complimented by the quarry tile flooring.

Whisk up something special in the kitchen, offering electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher.

Step out to the walled garden, surprisingly spacious for a property of this size, where you can relax on the patio furniture or under the pergola, get grilling on the barbecue or take yourself into the inviting summerhouse with breakfast or a good book.

Start your nightly routine in the shower room before heading up the narrow stairs to the double bedroom, a small but perfectly formed space with a wall mounted smart TV.

Start your morning with a wander into the town, picking up a pastry and coffee from Myers before browsing the many antique stores, independent shops and twice weekly market.

Steeped in History, and boasting 18 English Heritage Blue Plaques, take notice of the 18th and 19th century architecture throughout the town, wandering the cobbled streets and historic spots such as the Church of St Mary’s with some of the original structure dating back to 1250.

Later in the evening maybe dine at one of the many splendid restaurants the town has to offer, followed by a quality amateur production at the unique 96 seater Lion Theatre where several productions a year are performed including a festive Pantomime.

For something more lively take a stroll to Old Nick’s Tavern for home brewed Real Ales & regular live music.

Once Horncastle is explored, why not head to nearby Woodhall Spa with its cosmopolitan ambience of wine bars and fine eateries which line the boulevard.

Visit the heated outdoor pool in Jubilee Park or catch an afternoon matinee at the quaint Art Deco Kinema In The Woods.

Maybe a round of golf at one of the world class courses, close to the famous Dambuster’s base.

Within 23 miles you can also find the iconic Lincoln Cathedral, Medieval Bishop’s Palace and the Norman fortress of Lincoln whilst to the east are Blue Flag sandy beaches, dunes and nature reserves to enjoy at Sutton-on-Sea, Mablethorpe, Theddlethorpe and Donna Nook, here during the winter months newly born seal pups can be viewed at the vast colony, one of only 10 such sites in the country.

In contrast, there is thrilling motor sport at nearby Cadwell Park, and horse racing at Market Rasen racecourse.

Choose Hangman’s Cottage for a splendid retreat in the heart of Lincolnshire.
