We were warmly welcomed by Mark, who left fresh garden flowers and milk in the fridge, which was a lovely touch.
On arrival, there were two large dogs, but Mark kindly put them away when I explained our small senior pug isn’t comfortable around larger dogs, which we appreciated. The cottage is small but cosy, with a comfortable bed, large shower, plenty of towels and a hairdryer. It has a fridge, a microwave and kettle, plus washing-up liquid & hand wash. However, there is no freezer, and guests should bring a sponge, tea towel, kitchen roll and cleaning products, as these are not provided. The floor could also have been cleaner. The location is a real highlight, with a sandy beach just across the road and lovely open field views. Parking directly outside the cottage is also very convenient. The main issue was the Wi-Fi. We were told by Cath that BT had a fault and an engineer couldn’t attend during our stay. Without Wi-Fi, we also couldn’t use the TV/streaming services, which significantly affected our stay and led us to leave early. Overall, Mark and Cath were friendly and accommodating hosts, and the flowers, milk and location were lovely touches. They also run The Fat Seagull in the village, which serves a great breakfast bap and coffee, which we was given for free as an apology for the lack of Wi fi which wasn’t there fault. With reliable Wi-Fi and a few small improvements to kitchen and cleaning provisions, our stay would have been much more enjoyable.

Easily contactable and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation has everything you need, beautifully decorated with top notch quality fixtures and fittings. Furniture was lovely and comfortable, the cottage was exceptionally clean. Local surroundings make it quiet and relaxing, surrounded by farmland with the Sandilands national trust nature reserve opposite and beyond that a short walk to the sea.
Ideal for a quiet getaway.
