May 2026 This is a lovely holiday let ,very well equipped everything you would need, It’s well located with a pub and a coop in the village within walking distance.

It was my first visit but we will be back.

We’ve stayed at Starfield for the last four years while visiting our daughter at university, and it has been a great stay.

The secure garden has been perfect for our dog, and the house is exceptionally clean and the beds are incredibly comfortable. There are lovely dog walks right from the door, plus secure dog fields just a 5-minute drive away, which has been a huge bonus. It’s also only 10 minutes drive from Lincoln University and the city centre, castle and cathedral, making it an ideal place to stay for anyone visiting their son or daughter there. Dawn and Pete are excellent owners, and nothing is too much trouble. The location is quiet and peaceful, with a shop and pub just a 2-minute walk away, which is so convenient. Starfield has truly felt like a home away from home for us, and we wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend it.

Our favourite holiday bungalow.

Stayed there several times and will continue to stay there. Pete and Dawn are a lovely couple and always on hand if there's a problem. Even helped me celebrate my 80th birthday jointly with Dawns ?? birthday. Everything is home from home at this lovely holiday bungalow.

The property was warm and comfortable and had everything that I needed.

It is in a quiet location, but there is a shop close by as well as 2 pubs It is accessible by public transport as well as being near to walkways, woodland and parks. The owners live nearby and are very helpful. It is my second time at this property and I look forward to returning again. The property was lit up ready for Christmas and looked very welcoming on my arrival. I appreciated the milk, biscuits, crisps and a bottle of wine, as well as dog treats that were provided as welcome gifts.

We had a wonderful Christmas week at Starfield.

The property was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There was plenty of kitchen equipment, plates, cutlery etc to cook our Christmas dinner. We all slept like logs and the beds were very comfortable. A real treat for us was the wood burning stove which we enjoyed using. It was a great place for dog walking and Poppy really enjoyed herself. Dawn and Pete were both very helpful both before our visit and during the stay , nothing was too much trouble. We would love to come back again sometime.

Lovely peaceful area. Convenient for several National Trust properties and places of interest such as the historic city of Lincoln. Dawn and Pete are a lovely couple who are very obliging should you have any concerns or problems.

The property is very beautiful and well appointed. The owners were very helpful with a request we had and the welcoming bottle of wine and local goodies were very well received. Enjoyed our time here very much and will be looking to rebook for our next visit.

The property itself is ideally situated for exploring the area with an hourly bus service into Lincoln, but Skellingthorpe itself is lovely and peaceful. Would definitely recommend a stay at Starfield

What a fabulous place to stay.

Everything was of a very high quality (e.g. Denby crockery) and had every facility one could wish for. Highly recommended if you are lookjng for a nice place to stay in Lincoln.

This is our third visit and not our last ! Comfortable beds and spacious airy lounge. Enclosed and private peaceful garden. Really easy access to Lincoln and surrounding areas. Excellent breakfast at International Bomber Command. Bear National trust and lots of dog walking. Enclosed field Dog adventures recommended. And a special display from the Red Arrows on one of their practice sessions.

Been to Starfield several times and never disappointed.

Already booked again. Dawn and Pete are a lovely couple always on hand if you need them. Skellingthorpe is a very peaceful village on the edge of Lincoln yet just 3 miles from the city centre. Delicious ice cream is to be found at the Dairy Made farm whilst garden centres abound. Pennells has a very good restaurant as well. All the main supermarkets are within a short drive away.

We prefer harder beds but it must be difficult to cater for everyone!

What a lovely bungalow, very well maintained and lovely and clean.

Very comfortable beds and good quality bed linen. Settees very comfy and easy to use large tv. Well situated for walks or short drives to places of interest. We took our jack russel dog who was left some treats and enjoyed properly enclosed garden. Plenty of dog bins around village. Shame one of local pubs was closed, we didn't try the Plough as it seemed more of a sports pub. We were left a few lovely goodies, extremely appreciated. Good correspondence from owners with helpful tips. Would definitely return to probably the best sykes property we've been to, and we take about 14 each year for past few years. Pete & Dawn do their utmost to make sure your holiday goes well without being intrusive. They provided us with everything we expected and more. Clean, quiet and spacious with excellent facilities. Wish we could be there more often.

Had a fantastic stay, bungalow was lovely and warm and had comfortable sofas, excellent long burner.

Very clean would accommodate six people, only four of us and a dog was perfect. Would definitely recommend. The hosts keep us updated, nothing was to much trouble. Would highly recommend. Would love to return in the future. Stayed in many holiday homes and this is one of the best.

An excellent base to explore Lincoln and surrounding areas. Dawn and Pete are amazing hosts who go out of their way to welcome guests and make their stay that extra bit more special.

The bungalow is modern with all appliances you want/need.

When we arrived we received a text welcoming us and asking if we needed any help/information. We asked about beach dog walks with either a cafe or pub so father in law could stay warm while we walked the dog. We were given lots of Information and used it . The info pack at the cottage was well planned and presented We would recommend this cottage as a good base to explore Lincolnshire

A lovely friendly couple. Starfield is one of the best bungalows on the books. This is our 4th visit with another one booked and more to follow next year. Sorry Dawn & Pete, you're not getting rid of us any time soon. Very handy for National Trust properties such as Clumber Park, Belton House, Tattershall Castle and of course RAF bases for those of us who proudly served.

The key access info was spot-on and when we entered we were really impressed by how spacious the bungalow is, especially the lounge area. The property was spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

Lovely bungalow. Very well equipped. One of the best we have stayed in. The garden was very secure for our dog. Very happy with our stay.

The property is exactly like the photos.

It's incredibly comfortable, spacious and in a peaceful and quiet location, situated very handy for visiting local attractions. It's worth mentioning that there's an iron and ironing board and lots of games to play! Dawn and Pete, who own the property, live nearby and nothing is a bother for them. I had the unfortunate experience of my car breaking down mid stay. The RAC recovered it to a local garage. This meant we missed our 10am departure time by 1 1/2 hours. I kept them informed and they let us stay and cleaned around us (next holiday makers due by 4pm!) And Pete even gave me a lift to the garage to collect my car. Above and beyond! The back garden is a proper sun trap and we had fantastic weather all week. It is completely enclosed and we loved being able to let our little dog out without worrying he could escape! The beds are really compfy and the whole house has everything you need and more to make you feel right at home. Will definitely return.

This is our 2nd visit to Starfield and it is a home from home to share with multi generational members of the family, which is why it's ideal for us, complete with the dog!

Even though we don't live far away, the surrounding area is full of walks and nature parks, only 10-15mins drive up/down the A46. The owners, Dawn and Pete are lovely, keeping in contact without being intrusive. A lovely welcome pack was appreciated. We would highly recommend this accommodation. We discovered a lovely walk to the Pyewipe Inn from the doorstep this year-took half an hour and we spent time watching the boats pass on the canal-ideal for a lunch and drink stop.

Spacious property, well equipped with all the comforts of home in a peaceful location. We have just had our third stay with two more booked into next year. Dawn and Pete are a lovely couple and will always be on hand to help if needed.

Well equipped clean and comfortable cottage.

Fantastic welcome pack. Beautiful spacious private garden. By far the best Sykes cottage we have stayed in.

Owners friendly and helpful came straight away to fix an extension lead so we could plug in a nightlight near the bathroom.

For those with limited mobility if you find the few steps to the front door tricky we used the side gate and came in through the bifold doors. Mum has a stroller plenty of room inside to get around. Daisy maid cafe in village for your ice cream fix and co-op open until 10pm for your essentials. Thanks for the welcome pack greatly appreciated a cup of tea after the journey.

The bungalow suited all the family (from 23 yrs old to 81) plus 12 year old westie.

There is everything you need and the welcome treats were appreciated. It is in a great location to explore Lincoln and the surrounding areas. Dawn gave us some great tips and we were lucky enough with the weather to enjoy a good walk on Mablethorpe beach, Hartsholme country park and Whisby Nature park. The Plough pub was closed when we got there, but we had a good meal at The Windmill..not too far away. Daisy made ice cream cafe is also very near to Starfield which is well worth visiting. Overall Starfield (and of course Dawn and Pete)provided us with a great base for a lovely family break and hopefully we'll be back..

An excellent property, one that we hope to return to again.

It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Local shops (co-op) within walking distance and other supermarkets just a short drive. Getting to and from Lincoln was quick and straightforward and there were some great walks a step from the front door. Highly recommended (but not too highly, we don't want too many people competing against us to rent Skyview

We are nearly through our second week here at Starfield, we came for two weeks last year, and we have just booked two weeks for 2025, as well will be here in November, that says it all how we love the cottage and the hosts, they are on hand if needed and give advice on local interests.

The home is warm, well maintained and has everything you need to be comfortable, Looking forward to November stay, and this holiday not over yet, so enough time commending and get on enjoying this week. Irene

We spent 6 weeks at Starfield due to building work at our property.

The bungalow had everything you could wish for, the kitchen was very well equipped. Dawn and Pete kept in contact with us throughout. As we were self sufficient throughout our stay they left us with enough linen etc to keep us going throughout our time there. It wasn’t home but it was the next best thing. Would recommend for a long stay as well as a short holiday. Thank you Dawn and Pete

Starfield is a very comfortable bungalow and a lot more spacious than you might imagine.

The house is warm and homely and the garden is neat, tidy and very secure for a dog to enjoy. Communication with the owner is excellent and they have a wealth of knowledge about the area for things to see and do. Lincoln is a very attractive smaller city and it is well worth the climb up Steep Hill to see the Cathedral. Thank you for such a comfortable stay.

Lovely property.

It had everything we needed for a week's very comfortable stay. Weather was warm, particularly at the start of our break, so we made good use of the bi-fold doors and the garden. Plenty of space for us (couple). Everything was clean and decorated to a high standard. Hosts were welcoming and responsive when we needed help with something. A great base for our holiday in Lincolnshire.

As with our previous stay this is a real home from home for us.

All spotlessly clean and well decorated/furnished. We settled straight in and got down to relaxing and enjoying our holiday. Very easy to get around and lots of nearby attractions to visit. What a lovely bungalow this is.

Very comfortable, very well equipped and a very thoughtful welcome package from Dawn. An enclosed rear garden is ideal to sit in any time of the day. If, like me, you have a connection to the RAF then this property is ideal for visiting the numerous former and still active RAF Stations. There are also quite a few National Trust properties within an easy drive. We highly recommend Starfield, a real home from home, and we are already planning our next visit. Dawn is a very nice lady who cares about her property and the visitors it gets. All in all a delightful stay. Thank you Dawn.

We had a great week in Skellingthorpe.

The house is fine. We found everything as described and as shown in the pictures. Everything was clean, tidy and there was even a welcome surprise. We traveled a lot and therefore never met the landlords in person. In the meantime, however, they emailed us to ask if everything was ok, if we needed anything and wished us a safe journey back. We are really very satisfied and can recommend Starfield unreservedly.

The property was absolutely fantastic spotlessly clean,well equipped.

It is tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac in a lovely village. I took my dog and there was everything there he needed (dog bowls) they even left a bag of treats for him, plenty of lovely walks from the bungalow. We will be back.

We stayed for a week in February with our dog.

Cottage was spotless and had everything you would need, even spare dogs bowls and blanket if you forgot yours. Location was great for walking the dog and only a 10 minute drive into Lincoln to visit our daughter at university. Enclosed garden was also great for our dog. Would definitely stay here again when visiting.

Starfield is very worthy of its 5 star rating.

It is beautifuly clean, spacious and kitted out perfectly. The owners have supplied all the creature comforts you need, they consideratley kept in touch to make sure we were all ok. On arriving it was very thoughtful to recieve some goodies to eat and drink, including some dog treats. Starfield is well situated with a Coop store a few minutes walk and a 15 minute drive to Lincoln. There are many walks from the doorstep for those with dogs, and for those who are more adventerous you can walk or cycle to Lincoln and back along a well kept pathway, there and back in around 10 miles. There are lots of local attractions near by, within 20 minutes drive. We had a great week and would highly recommend Starfields. Thank you. Michael & Family

Great spacious property for our multi-age group!

Good to have ample comfortable seating where everyone could see the television and the log fire at the same time. The kitchen was very well equipped. We had an excellent week at Starfield.

This was a true home from home.

Felt homely and familiar as soon as we stepped in through the door. Everything we needed for a really comfortable week. It also meant we could get down to relaxing straight away. Very central location for many days out. Within easy reach of Mabelthorpe for the beach and Sheffield for shopping. Lincoln is right on the doorstep and such a beautiful city. Daisy made is a must for ice cream and fabulous local pub. Dog friendly home with all the basics already in place. Loved the apples :-) We will most certainly be back !

Starfield is in a nice quiet location it's like being home from home, it's nicely furnished and the kitchen has everything you need, Dawn & Pete have really gone the extra mile to make this a good holiday home.

The local pub serves a good Sunday lunch and smiths fish and chips shop in Saxilby is definitely worth a visit nice big portions & very cheap. I highly recommend staying at starfield and will definitely be coming back again.

I had a very enjoyable holiday with my small dog Teddie.

The property is in a quiet area, away from the road, which leads to a pathway next to a field of sheep and lambs. There is also a lovely garden, perfect for relaxation. For people who like walking Starfield is in a good position as as there are walks in both directions. It is near to a shop with post office facilities and pharmacy, and for public transport users, there is an hourly bus service to Hartsholme Country Park and Lincoln bus station (which is opposite the train station). The property had everything I needed for a weeks stay and Dawn messaged me throughout my stay to check that everything was ok. I enjoyed my stay and hope to return later in the year. The woodland walks were beautiful, full of carpets of bluebells and white wood anemones. Very peaceful.

The owners were also very friendly and helpful. Ideally, blinds or curtains in the kitchen and lounge would have enhanced its homely feel though I accept this is a personal preference as the property is not overlooked.

we arrived on a cold winters day to a lovely warm bungalow and the owners had decorated the lounge ready for our early family Christmas . It's ideal for 6 adults as the single beds are full size . Garden very safe for dogs too. Within easy reach of Lincoln

Fully enclosed garden so brilliant for the dog. Very comfortable and fully equipped bungalow, definitely a home from home. Owners kept in touch making sure everything was as expected. Co-op and pubs close by. Enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful bungalow, extremely comfortable.

Everything was as we expected it to be. The garden was great, fenced in so the dog could not escape! The owners had left a chilled bottle of wine and crisps for our arrival plus treats for the dog. We had a very relaxing holiday

Super quiet place to stay and relax, well furnished and comfortable.

Pete and Dawn the owners are the perfect hosts. We even had a display from the Red Arrows the day before we left, as they are based not too far away. A fantastic place with ever thing you need and more. We highly recommend a holiday here, we will certainly be booking again some time in the future.

Very safe property with an enclosed back garden so our grand-daughter could run around to her hearts content. The owners are very helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Even though they were on their holiday they were on the end of the phone and helped us when we broke down on the way there and had to be recovered. Hope to go back there again.

Starfield is a fantastic family home in a peaceful little village.

It's only a 10-15 drive away from Lincoln City centre with its many restaurants, bars and shopping facilities. The owners were very welcoming and were on hand to help out in any way possible. I would highly recommend this beautiful home for a family get away. Five stars in my opinion!

Pete and Dawn have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into making Starfield a very comfortable, excellently-equipped and clean holiday home with a pretty garden.

It is almost perfect. The "icing on the cake" would be some curtains/blinds in the lounge and kitchen. Not that they are needed for privacy but as protection from the intense glare of the afternoon sun. These rooms face south and west and, even for us in late September, this could be quite intrusive (yes - we did have some lovely weather!). It would also be nice to be able to cover the windows after dark. We greatly appreciated the welcome "goodies" and Pete responded immediately to a problem that we had. Skellingthorpe is a very convenient base for visiting Lincoln and the surrounding areas. Many places of interest were open in spite of the Covid restrictions, most needing pre-booking, and we always managed to find a cafe/pub to get a snack or a meal. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday!

A week away with our bubble.

Starfield was a great place to share with the family, a real home from home. The kitchen was particularly well equipped which was a blessing as eating out is currently tricky. Fabulous airy and spacious lounge area with bi-folds onto safe patio/garden area which was a great space for us to relax and toddler to play. Well positioned to visit Lincoln and explore the county. Thanks to September sunshine we had a lovely week out and about and then back at our holiday base. Dawn is a perfect hostess, thoughtful, available and yet unobtrusive, thank you!

It was like a home from home, everything was there.

Fully equipped kitchen, even down to kitchen roll and foil. We really enjoyed our stay, the owners kept in touch to make sure everything was going well, will definitely be returning.

We had a fantastic stay at Starfield - it was spotless, beautifully presented and fully equipped with everything we needed.

We have a 3 year old and a 5 year old and both the house and lovely (and secure) garden worked really well for small children. We loved visiting Lincolnshire and when we no doubt return we will definitely be booking Starfield again. It's the perfect home from home!

Dawn had thought of everything from homemade brownies, butter, crisps and wine on arrival to the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!

We had a great stay at Starfields for our New Year family break and ww will definitely be staying again and recommending it to friends and family! The only one thing I will say is that the bathroom window needs to be more frosted to ensure privacy. Thank you once again.

Starfield was exceptional.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Sparkling clean. Very, very comfortable with lots of lovely homely finishing touches. Dawn was very friendly, met us on arrival, showed us round and, when we had a very minor problem, Pete sorted it out very quickly. We would definitely recommend Starfield and will certainly check availability there next time we need to be in Lincoln.

Dawn and Pete were easily accessible for any issues and the cottage was a beautiful well equipped base for exploring Lincoln and the surrounding area. I would not hesitate to recommend Starfield, it is easily one of the best cottages we have stayed at with Sykes.

The bungalow was spacious and clean but the owners never made an effort to see us when we arrived they were away and told us they would see us on the Monday I phoned them to ask for two hand towels and they were dropted off Monday at 7 20 and that was all we saw of them all the cottages we have stayed at the owners have always greeted us to make sure everything was OK

Excellent accommodation.

Spacious, warm and very well equipped. Friendly welcome. Most importantly to us it has a totally secure garden for the dog. Good place to walk from - all flat with woods, water and the Red Arrows practising overhead. Perfect! Lincoln is a lovely historic and vibrant city and the whole county has a wide variety of landscapes to enjoy (not all flat!).

The cottage was excellently equipped and the location ideal for all that we wanted.

The Bungalows location was superb, the get you in coffee, scones & bottle of wine were very well received.

The food at the Stone Arms was excellent, and easy access to a park for the dog was a bonus. From the Bungalow we were well positioned for trips to Lincoln, Skegness, Sherwood Forest and several excellent Country Parks and National Trust properties. A week wasn't enough, we will be back.

The owner was very welcoming.

The bungalow was warm ( important in February!), and very well equipped in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable, and I loved the underfloor heating in the wet room. Would definitely recommend Starfield .

Our booking was for Christmas week so it was important to us that everything went smoothly and that we were able to do lots of cooking and enjoy log fires.

The owners were in touch with us directly beforehand and were extremely helpful and accommodating. On arrival we were delighted that they had gone to the trouble of setting up a Christmas tree, some tasteful decorations and a few welcome edible gifts. The kitchen equipment was all of a very good standard and the beds were very comfortable. During our stay they checked that all was well and were near at hand in case of any problems. A first class experience.

We loved staying in this bungalow.

The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and the lounge was spacious and had a great TV and wood burner. The lounge would have benefited from curtains/blinds. The owners were very helpful and left us some lovely treats to enjoy. Doddington Hall is a few minutes away and Lincoln was within easy reach. If we could have picked the bungalow up and taken it home, we would have!

Very quiet and private. Pete & Dawn were always on hand when we needed it. It was located only 5 minutes walk to my son and families home so no driving needed, ideal for us. Plenty of walking routes which we took advantage of during the Autumn season. Easy access to Lincoln town, only 15 minutes drive. Look forward to going back and relaxing in front of the log burner

The holiday cottage is probably one of the best we have stayed in in 25 years.

It was clean, comfortable and very homely. Lots of nice little touches like bread, milk, chocolate cake etc and all the condiments that you have at home along with useful cleaning materials. A lovely kitchen, dining and garden room with a fantastic wood burner. We had a great holiday and only 3 miles from Lincoln which was a lovely city.

Starfield was a lovely property and the owners were very nice, friendly and helpful and there if you needed anything.

Our dog Tim loved the totally secure garden and the treats that were left for him. We appreciated the welcome pack that was left too. There was nothing that wasn't there for you to enjoy your stay. Lovely place, lovely stay and would stay there again.

We have stayed in other Sykes cottages and not been disappointed but Starfield was exceptional.

It was a pleasure to be able to enjoy a number of meals before we had to switch on the dishwasher as there was plenty of crockery and cutlery. There was no need to rush to the shop before being able to make a drink and settling into the cosy sofas, when we arrived. The underfloor heating was a treat. We walked into Lincoln one day and took the bus on another. There was an excellent co-op in the village and two friendly pubs, which made the trip very relaxing.

Starfield was well above expectations.

The little touches made it, including the lovely cake on arrival. The house was clean, comfortable and there was plenty of room for 6 of us. We had sun in the back garden and were able to make use of the patio and garden furniture. Lincoln was within easy reach.

Lovely location. Great attention to detail with open plan layout and interior design. Practical and pretty with good quality beds, bedding etc. Well equipped kitchen for real cooking! Loved the welcome pack, especially the home made brownies. Friendly and helpful hosts.

What a fantastic holiday home.

We had a brilliant week staying at Starfield with our 2 children and my parents. We received a lovely welcome on arrival from Dawn, complete with kitchen essentials of bread and milk, plus added extras of a bottle of wine, dog treats and home made brownie, which was delicious. The property has recently been beautifully renovated and furnished, including comfortable beds and sofas. The living room is amazing especially on sunny days with the bifold doors open onto the secure garden, ideal for children and dogs. It was a real home from home being so well equipped. Starfield is set in a lovely village, close to two pubs, little supermarket and play area. It is also a great base to explore Lincolnshire and beyond. I cannot recommend highly enough.
