  • "This property was a lovely property in a great setting"

  • "Cozy, welcoming, well stocked kitchen, very clean, beautiful private location with stunning views, comfortable sofa and chairs and beds and bedding were so comfy, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend."

  • "Such a lovely house."

We loved the views, the space, the comfortable rooms and numerous bathrooms! When the weather wasn't so good we were happy to relax at the house and it was great to have a supply of board and games and books. When the weather improved there were lots of lovely places to explore, especially Benmore Botanic Gardens, Puck's Glen and Kilbride Beach. We thought midges might be a problem but they weren't.

  • "The cottage was very lovely, spacious and comfortable and in a very convenient location for our needs."

It was great to find some fresh supplies (tea, coffee, seasonings, milk, etc. and other plentiful supplies like washing powder, dish washing liquid and tablets, toilet paper, various kitchen papers, etc. Most holiday cottages provide only 'starter' amounts of these or none at all, and it's such a boon for holiday makers to discover all they need so they don't have to go searching for shops at awkward arrival times. I highly recommend this cottage.

We had a lovely time as a family of four, did lots of mountain biking and walking and visited nearby tourist attractions. Many thanks for letters us stay.

  • "Our group (7 adults and 1 dog) had a lovely stay at Branter lodge."

Very clean and comfortable accommodation, great views as shown in the photos. It was useful to have outdoor storage for a bike. Our only minor criticism is that there wasn't enough seating for us all in the main lounge (would have been nice on the odd occasion), but otherwise it's a fantastic house in a lovely area of Scotland and we would recommend.

Well equipped, really comfortable and very clean. We loved our week and couldn't have asked for more. Please pass on our thanks to the owners - its a wonderful place.

  • "Branter Lodge is a lovely house set amongst beautiful scenery in a great part of Scotland."

The house was immaculate, looks exactly as it does in the pictures and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owner Ian was also very helpful and contacted us prior to our journey to inform us about the Rest and be Thankful being closed and gave us a very precise, alternative route which thrilled the kids as it involved a ferry ride. I can definitely recommend a stay at Branter Lodge.

About the location

STRACHUR

Dunoon 18 miles; Inverary 21 miles.

The small village of Strachur sits on the east shore of Loch Fyne on the west side of the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll. From the Gaelic meaning Glen of the Heron, Strachur is just over 60 miles from Glasgow. The original village centre is located about half a mile inland from the loch shore and today it offers the Smiddy Museum and Clachan Inn. On the shore of the loch is a shop, Post Office and tea room and just north is the famous Creggans Inn, previously owned by the renowned adventurer Sir Fitzroy MacLean. The charming town of Inverary is on the opposite sides of the loch and is reached by a pleasant and picturesque drive, passing by the well-known Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. The Town Jail is worth a visit, as is the striking castle which you pass on entering the town. Surrounded by magnificent lochs, forests and mountains, Strachur is located in one of the most spectacular parts of Scotland.
