Drysgol Lakeside - Bala Lake

What a fantastic place!

Quite honestly, 10/10 or 5 stars just doesn’t seem enough for either the property or for Marie. We need a new rating system. Nothing was too much trouble, and Marie was so warm and welcoming from the second we opened the car door. We barely had time to get our feet on the ground before we felt completely at home. The view over the lake is breathtaking, the peace and quiet is wonderful, and as for the dark skies… wow. I genuinely don’t have the words, which is unusual for me! Bear in mind that we stayed on 8th August, when the sky wasn’t even completely black, and it was still incredible. I can only imagine what it will be like a few weeks later. You may need to remind yourself to stop staring upwards and actually go to bed. If you’re thinking about visiting Wales, do yourself a favour and check this place out. You really won’t be disappointed. It’s brilliantly positioned for exploring the delights of North Wales, but still feels wonderfully peaceful and tucked away from everything. The nearby town of Bala has everything you could need, and the whole stay represents fantastic value for money. We absolutely loved it and would return without hesitation. Five stars from us — although if Marie could arrange a six-star button, we’d happily press it.

I am honestly running out of superlatives to describe this place, it is such a beautiful place in a beautiful setting.

Beatrice is the perfect host and the apartment is always immaculate. It truly feels like coming home when I arrive it has become so familiar. If you want somewhere just to chill and unwind, this is definitely the place, sitting out on the deck with a good book and a glass of wine is as good as anywhere in the Med and much quieter ! This is my third visit and as I have said in other reviews I will definitely be going back. Cannot recommend this little peace of heaven highly enough.

We loved our stay at Drysgol.

Beatrice was wonderfully welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. The property is very comfortable with fabulous views across the lake. The local town of Bala is great with many good places to eat and shop. It’s a good location for visiting places of interest. We will definitely be back and we rarely visit the same place twice so that is saying something!

Beautiful place and the view from the windows and the balcony is breathtaking!

Very clean and all we needed for a comfortable stay. If I have to be picky, we would have preferred if there even a couple of hotplates or a mini cooker. However, we knew there wouldn’t be because this was stated. There is a microwave, convection oven and an air fryer and even a sandwich maker. Beautifully maintained garden around. Ideal place to get away from it all but close enough to shops and cafes 1.6 miles). Last but not least, Beatrice is really welcoming, friendly and happy to share local knowledge. I would definitely recommend the apartment to my friends.

Beatrice was the perfect host from start to finish.

Very knowledgeable about the area and gave us lots of useful tips. The apartment was fabulous, set on the lake with stunning views. The facilities are outstanding, everything you need for a perfect stay. The little touches provided by Beatrice including milk, teabags, coffee, biscuits and bottles of water added to a very enjoyable stay. Overall we would not hesitate to recommend Drysgol lakeside. A place you never want to leave, stunning setting, clean and everything you need in the apartment, a warm welcome and goodbye from Beatrice, absolutely perfect break , if you want to relax overlooking a lake, this is for you, amazing

My second visit - that’s the only negative is that I’ve only been twice.

Exactly as I remembered from the first visit, it felt almost like coming home. Excellent service from Beatrice and an additional lovely gesture of a bottle of wine to celebrate my birthday. I will certainly be back and hopefully later in this year availability allowing. I would give this little haven 11/10 … it really is a little gem of a place.

We visited in October and we are definitely going to return!

We loved our apartment, it was clean & tidy and also the local area was perfect. We could get to so many places within a short drive down scenic country roads and returning to the calmness of the apartment after a long day with a lake view was perfect. Beatrice our host was really friendly and helpful.

We had the most wonderful stay at Drysgol.

So relaxing and the views magnificent. Beatrice is a lovely host (hoping her husband is getting better) and the property and grounds beautiful. So much to do in North Wales makes this a great base. We will be back!

I love this place of absolute paradise - you can completely get away from real life.

I have already booked two different weeks here next year. I love dipping in the lake, sitting on the balcony with a good book or my crochet, and watching the wildlife. Beatrice is so friendly and helpful. It is a place of complete rest and relaxation.

This must be one of Bala's best kept secrets, what a little haven to relax and unwind in.

Drysgol was a lovely, peaceful place to stay.

We particularly liked the view over the lake (visible from both the living room and the bedroom), and one evening we also had a spectacular view of the stars. We had not used a combination oven before and would have preferred a hotplate for some of our cooking. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. They responded very quickly when we needed help with something in the apartment.

What a gem of a place very tranquil - the views over the lake are stunning and the grounds beautiful - a lovely walk into Bala and although the weather was not the best it didn’t stop us going for walks.

Beatrice made us feel very welcome and we will definitely return

A fabulous place to go to for a retreat from the busy world.

I had a lovely break with lots of reading, sewing, crochet and of course swimming in the beautiful Bala lake. Bala itself is only about 20 minutes walk away so it easy to pop into for lunch or a coffee. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. I have already booked to go back next year as it was wonderful.

This is a little piece of heaven.

The apartment is beautiful and ideal for a peaceful and relaxing break. The balcony sits right on the lake shore. Perfect. The photos don’t do Drysgol justice. I’d definitely go again. Beatrice was a superb host too, nothing too much trouble.

This property was clean and well equipped.

It has a beautiful view of the lake in both directions and is very quiet (unless the RAF fancy low flying runs but that was just one day. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

It really is the most peaceful and beautiful location and the apartment is spotlessly clean and everything is of a excellent quality and very comfortable. For any guest like us who like to cook their own meals they should be aware that there is no Hob so you need to plan meals that can be prepared using the Oven/Grill/Microwave cooker provided. The one thing I will mention is the access stairs are fairly steep and has no windows so in my opinion the lighting does need to be significantly improved but this did not detract from us having a fabulous holiday with perfect weather.

We loved every minute of our stay.
