  • "I have only positive things to say about the property and the owners."

They were excellent and very accommodating. I would highly recommend to other families to visit this property if it is available! We will certainly be going back in the future. The property was very clean, but the utensils needed cleaning prior to use. This is no fault of the owner mind - the dishwasher is only so good. The instructions are very clear prior to arriving and if followed are very simple! The layout is great, everything you could ask for and more is available and the location is stunning. Amazing views from all rooms within the property and suitable for all types of families.

  • "This is a beautiful cottage with so much thought and care into decor, cleanliness and items left for our use."

We managed breakfast on the decking in the sunshine in January!! But the views and peacefulness were worth it. The owners had been and lit the fire prior to our arrival to make the house cosy but unfortunately had forgotten to turn to hot water on. Between myself and other guests and a call to the owners we managed to sort this but it left us without reliable hot water for about a day and a half of our 3 day stay. The owners did let us have a later checkout and kept in touch over the weekend to check the problem was resolving. Fortunately the families that stayed did not let this ruin their weekend and would recommend this property to others.

  • "Lovely house, warm ,cozy and comfortable."

TV remotes were difficult to fathom though.we were hoping to host a dinner party for our group on the31st unfortunately the catering company let us down because of covid. I think the chef would have struggled with a 4 course dinner for 7..... not quite enough equipment or crockery available which wasn’t in keeping with the high standard of Goronwy Cottage. Large pasta bowls and a large salad bowl would have aided our stay too.also a larger fridge would have helped, the one available wouldn’t accommodate 9 people. Thankyou for the offer of extending our stay due to our late arrival. It wasn’t needed but still, a very kind offer.we will certainly be coming back and couldn’t recommend goronwy cottage highly enough. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

  • "Lovely property with amazing views."

Access is an issue but the steps are well worth the climb. The property was great for 2 small families and two fit grandparents. Beautiful walks up the hill to the scenic views and also down and onto the beach. A little chillier on one side of property but heaters and extra blankets etc avail so not an issue -even in Dec! Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "We enjoyed our winter weekend at Goronwy Cottage."

The location and appearance of the property was as we expected. Room sizes and facilities were good - the lounge was delightfully cosy when the huge wood-burning stove was alight; sadly - in cold winter weather - the rest of the house never reached a comfortable temperature. We would certainly return, but not during the winter. The panoramic views from the front of the house are fabulous and if you can manage the steep access, Goronwy Cottage would be a good choice.

Hot water galore and those gorgeous views. You soon get used to the steps - it’s all part of the experience.

  • "The cottage was very spacious and cosy and it was lovely to have a log burner, with a good supply of logs."

It was a central location and had great views. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Visitors would just need to be aware of the lack of vehicle access and the steps up to the property.

  • "The cottage is a superb property in a stunning location, there are three ensuite bedrooms, large kitchen, dining room and lounge."

The views from the property and the separate terrace are stunning. Please be aware of the accessibility as the cottage is only reachable on foot up steep steps from the main road and there is very limited parking near the cottage so several trips are required to unpack and pack, this is not recommended for anybody with mobility issues. Recommended overall.

  • "The first time for a few of the group staying in a holiday residence rather than a hotel and they have definitely been converted."

Having a living area where we could congregate before going out and for those who stay up late not being restricted to bed times of others. Very clean place, comfortable beds and plenty of space for the 6 of us. Could have easily accommodated more with no restrictions. The fireplace is absolutely gorgeous and makes the night in extremely cosy. Right in the middle of the action, everything no more than a 20 minute walk away. Will definitely stay here again

  • "The Goronwy cottage is very close to all amenities in Barmouth including the beach."

It is everything you would wish for in a holiday accommodation, furnished not as a holiday let but as somebody's welcoming home. Very comfortable, light, airy and cosy. in addition to all the lovely living and sleeping spaces, there s a drying room which we found very useful. The drawback - the steps up to get to the cottage, are well worth the effort for the reward. The porch and deck, from which to capture some amazing sunsets, complete the outstanding accommodation Goronwy cottage offers. We have booked with Sykes Cottages several times over the years and never been disappointed, in fact usually, as above, our expectations are exceeded.

  • "I've rented dozens of holiday cottages over the years but this is the first time that a cottage owner has contacted me early during the rental to enquire if there was anything that needed her attention."

The result was a very speedy delivery of a few minor things - spare lightbulbs, a new single cup cafetiere (there already were two good large ones!) and a new shower head for one of the four showers. This level of service and interest went well beyond what I have experienced before. On top of this, the cottage is really lovely, being comfortable, well furnished, with excellent facilities and with an exceptional view out over Barmouth and the sea. A gem of a place.

The terrace is a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sunset . The cottage is very comfortable , very tasteful and very well equipped and we felt completely at home there. One of the best holiday cottages we have ever rented. Definitely not for anyone with mobility problems - the steps up to the cottage are many and steep! But a price worth paying for those fantastic views! Thanks to the owners for going the extra mile to make Goronwy cottage such a delightful place to stay.

The property is accessed via a stepped and sloping pathway and although there is no vehicle access, the owners provide two parking permits for the nearby car park.

Goronwy Cottage, formerly two fisherman's cottages, is a wonderful property retaining many original features.

There is a splendid inglenook fireplace, exposed beams, slate flag and stripped pine flooring and Georgian sash windows.

Set over three floors, with many rooms enjoying unrestricted views over the town towards the sea, and two staircases at either end of the cottage, this seaside cottage is a fabulous hide-and-seek haven!

Entering from the veranda into a spacious kitchen with dining area, which is well-appointed with plenty of units and a Belling cooking range, you will feel immediately at home.

The chef of the group will be happy to prepare some tasty meals which can either be enjoyed alfresco style or at the dining table inside.

The sitting room has an impressive inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove, perfect for those cooler, winter evenings.

There is also a handy boot room, providing ample storage for boots and coats with the addition of a cloakroom for your convenience.

Arranged over the two upper floors are five bedrooms in total, three with en-suite shower rooms and all individually styled with comfy beds and 100% cotton, luxury hotel linen.

A family bathroom is also located on the first floor and services the remaining bedrooms.

The TV/games room on the third floor is a great place for the kids, they can play and watch TV in one room, whilst the grown-ups relax downstairs, enjoying the peace and quiet.

Goronwy cottage boasts a west-facing, period veranda and a large sun decked terrace.

This is the perfect place to sit and enjoy tangerine sunsets, with wonderful views over the glistening ocean.

This lovely cottage is in a superb location for enjoying the shops, restaurants and pubs on the doorstep, as well as the sandy beach and the Mawddach Estuary, which John Ruskin said provided "one of the most sublime views in Europe".

This whole area is a haven for walkers and climbers, sailing and water sports enthusiasts, as well as offering some of the best mountain biking in the UK.

Harlech, now a World Heritage Site, with its castle is only ten miles away, whilst slightly further afield is the Italianate village of Portmeirion and the harbour town of Porthmadog, where you can take the Ffestiniog Steam Railway to Blaenau Ffestiniog and enjoy the industrial heritage and slateworks.

For the more adventurous, there’s Zip World Titan or Bounce Below, an underground trampoline.

A truly delightful holiday cottage for enjoying an exciting year-round holiday with family and friends.
