  • "The cottage was perfect, so cosy and homely."

We love the open fire, it was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The only thing I would suggest, is letting families know there is a larger freezer in the outdoor shed.

Fantastic large garden which our dogs loved. Very close and easy to access the Shropshire Way and a really nice countryside walk into Clun. Amazing countryside views.

( I weigh 12 stone). Also the shower is not the best but ok. Everything else about the cottage and holiday was great.

  • "A lovely little cottage in the middle of nowhere."

The garden was huge, much to the delight of our dogs who enjoyed running laps. Close enough to shops to be convenient but far enough to get away from everything. Will be booking again.

The facilities there were really good, and the location was excellent, with walks in the immediate vicinity and loads to do within easy reach. We were incredibly impressed by Shropshire as a place to visit and would thoroughly recommend both the cottage and the area as places to visit.

The cottage has everything that is needed for a most relaxing break. Lovely large enclosed garden which our boxer dog Ellie enjoys each time we stay. There are plenty of places to go for lovely walks straight from the cottage. We will be back yet again for sure.

  • "A lovely, comfortable and peaceful cottage in the Shropshire countryside."

Just far enough away from the nearest town but near enough for local shops and pubs. Walking in to a nice, hot wood burner was a delight. We took our two dogs and they loved the cottage and surrounding area too. It is certainly a cottage that we would like to use again the next time we are in the area.

Otherwise it was a lovely cottage, well cared for and the owners were very hospitable. Very much appreciated.

As the weather was very wet, we were very pleased to have the log burner lit and warming the cottage on arrival. Unfortunately it rained for 6 out of 7 days of our stay, so the log burner was essential throughout. Dispite the weather, we managed to get out and about most days.

Taking dogs on holiday can be stressful but this cottage had a dog friendly garden with a good fence. The set up and aspect of the cottage was brilliant. We had good weather but rain or shine the cottage worked.

  • "Ideal for dogs as there is a large enclosed garden."

Ideal location with country walks from the door. Whilst set in a quiet location the cottage is central for visiting many lovely villages and towns. Our favourite thing about the cottage was to sit in the garden with an early morning cuppa tea taking in the most beautiful views. I don’t think the pictures of the cottage interior do it justice, it’s a lovely property.

About the location

Bishop's Castle 6 miles; Ludlow 18 miles.

A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.
