  • "This was our first stay at Little Bicton and from the moment we walked in we loved it!"

We a really appreciated that the sitting room log burner had been lit as it was so warm and cosy when we arrived. The house had everything we could have wanted and the hot tub was a perfect way to end the day. There are lovely walks straight from the front door which our dogs thoroughly loved. We will most definitely return!

  • "This place was amazing, had everything that you could want, hot tub was a bonus."

Only thing that was the weather wasn’t the best so had to travel around 30 minutes for the kids to do something indoors. This doesn’t take anything away from this cottage, we would definitely go again. We had to cut our stay short due to an issue at home but still enjoyed our shorter than planned stay.

  • "Lovely charming property for family staycation."

Nice touch that wood burners were prepared on arrival needing only lighting. (November break) Comfortable stay, furniture a little dated, small tv in lounge & some kitchen equipment was unclean on arrival but did not affect our stay/enjoyment. Did have slight issue with heating & hot water, but hoists sorted it quickly. Car needed a good clean, rather uneven bridge (or “ford ) access only- working farm. Hot tub under the stars lovely. Mind your head walking around property and through internal low doorways, stairs could be tricky for less able people. Please explore Clun, Bishops Castle & Montgomery, so quaint.

  • "Amazing cottage, great facilities."

We were only there for two nights but had a great time, plenty of space for 6 adults and two labradors! Hot tub was great and was included in price. The owners had put on the heating before we arrived so was cosy from the off. Shower room downstairs with additional toilet was useful. Wish we could have stayed longer - would definitely like to stay there again

  • "Wonderful cottage, well appointed, the couple who represent the property were very welcoming and helpful."

Minor points which could be addressed is that given the remoteness of the property better signage from the lane would help, and due the the tranquil nature of the area an Electric vehicle charging point should be installed. We would definitely stay again.

  • "Lovely location."

This is the second time we've stayed at one of the owners cottages. The garden is secure for smaller dogs, but some of the boundary being stone wall our Retrievers could easily have jumped over. (Although they didn't!). The cottage is nicely situated for exploring. National trust and English heritage properties all reasonably close by. Also 25min walk to Clun using the Shropshire way, 2 pubs at the end of the walk. Will definitely be returning.

Cosy and comfortable with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. Large well equipped kitchen. Dogs loved the large enclosed garden. Watched the Red Kites while enjoying the hot tub which was checked daily. Walks from the door straight onto the Shropshire Way. Lovely walk into Clun. Such a peaceful, quiet, beautiful area. If you get the chance, look at the stars! Great hosts.

  • "The house is warm and comfortable."

The listing needs to be updated to state there are low beams and doors throughout the property- I’m the shortest of our group and at 5’10” I spent the week ducking (or forgetting and banging my head). We live in an old cottage with beams but our ceilings are much higher. It did take the shine off the week for us.

Superb rural, peaceful location. Very well equipped, clean, cozy cottage. Outdoor seating very comfortable and as the weather was nice I spent alot of time outside enjoying the view. Big garden ideal for the dogs to chase each other. Relaxing in the hot tub in the evening was very peaceful. Easy access to Shropshire way. Close to Clun which has a spa shop. Not to far from Ludlow, which is lovely to wander around and Mortimer forest has some lovely walks. Leintwardine has a lovely chip shop, the fiddler's elbow, which is gluten free and has vegetarian and vegan options. It's a 20 minute drive, but can pre order online to collect and then sit and eat by the river. This is one cottage I would definitely return to again.

  • "Good things: The house was very clean and well equipped."

It was well situated in a lovely area for cycling and walking. The supply of maps and guides was very helpful. The log burner was a great asset on the cooler evenings. Not so good: Only one wardrobe/hanging space between 3 bedrooms. Second dble room had no storage space and was cramped. No recycling bin inside the house and insufficient recycling bin outside. The one provided was also open to the elements. We removed the stair gate at the top of the stairs because we felt it posed a hazard - there wasn't room to open it fully which meant you had to manoeuvre around it at the top of the narrow, steep stairs.

Thankyou for you review. With the property being an old characterful cottage - we have provided as much hanging/ storage space that the cottage will allow. The recycling boxes supplied are what our local council authority supply to us and most guests find them more than adequate. We do not think putting the recycling boxes in the cottage would be a good idea, the recycling boxes are only a matter of feet from the front door of the cottage. Property Owner

  • "Little Bicton is a lovely welcoming, spacious cottage with superb views of the surrounding Shropshire hills."

You have to negotiate a 180yds rough track up to the cottage but it is well worth it once you arrive. Set in a superb, quiet and peaceful rural position surrounded by the glorious green Shropshire countryside. The cottage is very spacious and well equipped with comfortable furniture downstairs and equally comfortable beds upstairs; however just beware of one or two low doorways. Outside there’s a large enclosed garden surrounded by fields containing sheep and a couple of friendly horses. The small town of Clun is just a five minute drive where there is a good local grocery store. All in all, a delightfully roomy and welcoming cottage that was one of the best we've stayed in over the last 45+ years.

A mile and a half from Clun, so walking distance either down the road or along the Shropshire Way. Great garden surrounding the house with outdoor seating and hot tub. Indoors, lovely log burners and a home from home. The only minus was the TV in the lounge slightly on the small side but OK. Not really anywhere to put a big TV due to lovely reclining sofas and window on 3 sides... a massive TV in the main bedroom!!! Thoroughly relaxing stay thank you :)

We loved being able to walk directly from the property to the Shropshire way, and also down to Clun. There were sheep, ponies, and goats in the next field which were nice to look out on, and I enjoyed watching the Rooks nesting while relaxing in the hot tub. The cottage was warm, inviting and very well-equipped and although many of our outdoor plans were scuppered due to the horrendous weather, it was no hardship to spend time indoors! Would imagine the views are glorious!! Managed to use the hot tub a few times when the winds died down which was lovely. The only downside to our stay was the river flooding making the road impassable for a while but the owner texted us while we were out to warn us and kindly allowed us an extra couple of hours on our final morning until the water level went down enough for us to drive through. It was all quite an adventure and we would love to return in dryer weather!!!!!!

Hard to find as the signs are hidden by bushes! Garden was basic but well kept. The stairs are an accident waiting to happen, and there are low doorways so us tall people needed to be very careful. About the location

CLUN

Bishop's Castle 6 miles; Ludlow 18 miles.

A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.
