  • "Finished to a high standard the Hideaway lives up to its listing and provides a very comfortable and well-equipped base to relax in and visit Bishop's Castle and the surrounding area, ."

    The location is excellent, just off the High Street, with on-street parking on both the High Street and Station Road. Ross is a responsive, helpful and friendly host with good local knowledge, and Bishop's Castle is a charming small town with all the amenities you could wish for, including, as well as the usual shops, pubs, cafes etc., a traditional and highly recommended butcher, Andrew Pugh on Church Street.

  • "Had a fabulous time."

    The hideaway is a perfect place to stay. Very clean and modern, but still cosy. Very handy having a dishwasher and washing machine. We ate out at The castle hotel, just around the corner to the property. The food was delicious. All the national trust places were close by and Shrewsbury is a nice place to visit too. We visited Wales while we were there. We saw some lovely scenery.Many thanks Ross for a wonderful holiday. We will be back soon.

  • "We had a week stay at the Hideway and it is excellent accommodation, the owner has done a superb renovation to high specifications."

    The cottage is very comfortable and had everything we required, it's location is great with easy parking and a 5 minute walk to a varied selection of pubs/hotels and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "Excellent newly refurbished, immaculate and well equipped accommodation in central location right near the top of the high street which is very quiet after 11:00 at night."

    Light sleepers beware the clock bells sound regularly even at night!!!!! Less of an issue with the roof windows closed if it’s not so hot.

Eventhough the property is tucked off the High St, well soundproofed, in warmer nights, with windows open, the Town Clock bell can be annoying, anywhere in town. As a local, we are used to it. However, since your stay, guests are now supplied with ear buds. Great guests, a pleasure to host, always welcome. Property Owner

  • "The Hideaway is excellent."

    The care and attention that has gone into the building is just perfection. The layout and furnishings have all been thought out to provide comfort, the bed is so comfortable you don't want to get out. We'd never been to Bishops Castle before but it's full of character, plenty going on and the people are lovely and The Hideaway is right in the middle of it but is very quiet and peaceful. Just perfect for a get away.

  • "An overall excellent experience."

    The owner, was extremely helpful, before, during and after our stay. The TV was hard to use, and in the end we gave up. Instructions about how to find the cottage were poor and misleading.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at The Hideaway."

    The cottage is a real home from home and has everything you need and more. The location was perfect in the heart of historic Bishops Castle, which is a great place to explore as well as the fabulous surrounding area. We had great days out at Stokesay Castle, Ironbridge, Ludlow & The British Ironworks Centre (if you love a sculpture park this is a must). It was always great to get back home to the cottage with its charm, character, comfy beds and wonderful shower. Thank you Ross for making us feel so welcome and for the little treats. Our dog Archie loved his. We would definitely recommend The Hideaway and Bishops Castle with all its great amenities and friendly locals.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at The Hideaway in Bishop’s Castle."

    The property is absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean, with amazing amenities – everything you could possibly need has been thoughtfully provided. Ross was a fantastic host and the Prosecco and milk left for us on arrival were such a lovely, welcoming touch. The location is perfect, with beautiful walks right on the doorstep, making it a really peaceful and relaxing place to stay. We also took the recommendation to visit the Golden Fish Chinese in Church Stoke and it did not disappoint – the food was delicious. We stayed as a family of three (two adults and one child) and had a fabulous time seeing in the New Year together at The Hideaway. It’s a truly lovely place and we would absolutely love to return.   • "The Hideaway is a wonderful property."

    It is an old building but has been fitted out with modern, top quality fittings. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to easily cook our Christmas dinner. The bedrooms are large with super comfortable beds. The bathroom comprised of a free standing bath, toilet, sink and a separate shower cubicle with powerful shower. It was immaculately clean and the owner Ross thoughtfully left us a plethora of Christmas treats. The Hideaway is close to several pubs and a Co-op and Spa. A short drive away we discovered some beautiful walks. We absolutely loved our Christmas break in The Hideaway

  • "The property was lovely."

    It had been restored recently and everything was new, clean, comfortable and tasteful. It was well equipped and spacious. The property is very central to the small town of Bishop's Castle. There is no outside space but we weren't expecting one. It was a little hard to find first time, tucked away down an alleyway. Although there is no parking space we were able to park easily at the end of the alley, which was very convenient. Milk, fruit and lovely biscuits on arrival were a welcome touch. At one point we were unsure about the heating. We messaged the owner and he sorted it out immediately. Some guidance on how to use the induction hob (we're not used to one)and tv would be useful but we figured it out. We would happily stay there again.

  • "The Hideaway is such a beautiful cottage we can't wait to return."

    The renovation of the C17th building has been carried out in a very sympathetic way without leaving out any of the modern comforts you might expect. The cottage was spotless and very well equipped for our week's stay. The owner Ross was in contact before our arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. We appreciated the milk, fruit and chocolate cake, a nice touch as we were staying to celebrate my husband's birthday. Thank you Ross.
