“Great comfy cottage, good welcome and would book again.”

Could make the directions to find a bit clearer is all! Turn at the sign to New Chapel, not at a new chapel which suggests one is looking for a church!

The property

Enjoying a rural position on the eastern slopes of the Cambrian Mountains and just a short distance away from the bustling town centre of Llanidloes is this characterful cottage, Caerau Farm House.

Bring your family to this wonderful abode to share a memorable break to this part of Wales, where you will be delighted to discover some of the most unspoilt scenery in Wales and be within close reach of the beautiful Welsh/Shropshire border.

Soak up your picturesque surroundings before heading to the cottage and welcomed into the sitting room, where the woodburning stove set within the inglenook fireplace takes centre stage before the sumptuous sofa and the Smart TV, creating a tranquil space in which to enjoy your relaxing evenings indoors.

If you fancy an hour’s peace and quiet, venture into the smaller snug room and cosy up in the armchair with that book that you have been meaning to read in hand.

From here, move through into the well-equipped kitchen, where you will find a good range of quality appliances to cook up a family favourite dish and ample preparation space to pack up a picnic for the next day’s adventure.

Relish in some much needed catch up time at the dining table as you pop open a bottle of fizz before tucking into your home-cooked meal and planning the day’s ahead.

During the summer months, be sure to take your meals outdoors onto the patio area to catch the final glimpses of sunshine, as your canine companions stretch their legs upon the spacious lawn area.

As the evening draws to a close, make your way up the staircase where the character of the property is truly highlighted by the exposed beams and slopping ceilings.

Choose between a lovely double bedroom with plenty of storage space and pretty garden views to wake up to each morning or the twin bedroom, which enjoys a quirky layout, reflecting the age of this charming cottage.

For the evenings where you fancy sampling some local dishes, head into the small town of Llanidloes where you will be spoilt for choice by the wide selection of places to eat and drink, as well as a number of shops awaiting to be explored.

At the nearby Clywedog Reservoir there are a number of routes the keen walker, also a Sailing Club and one of the top UK Trout Fisheries, and the nearby Hafren Forest is home to the source of the River Severn.

Those feeling adventurous can head to the Devil's Bridge Falls for a wonderful walk or for a more leisurely afternoon be sure to explore the enchanting Cwm Weeg Gardens.

Venture slightly further afield to spend your days visiting the National Trust property of Powis Castle with its famous gardens, the Shropshire towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury with their excellent shopping opportunities or venture to the Snowdonia National Park to climb the highest mountain in the country.
