  • "We chose the Laurels to enable us to get together to celebrate a birthday and wedding anniversary."

The house is stunning - comfortable, very clean and incredibly well equipped. The garden was safe and secure for dogs and toddlers and the children adored both the walk in toy cupboard and the upstairs games rooms. Beds are all comfortable and king size which is so important The area has so much to offer- this is a real find! Both the owner and housekeeper are very welcoming and helpful. We are planning when to return.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at the Laurels."

The house was perfect for our needs with plenty of space for our 4 generations of family to get together, providing large dinning areas and the comfiest beds I've ever stayed in. My granddaughters especially enjoyed the children's play kitchen and the dart board provided entertainment for the older ones It's also in a great location for exploring the surrounding area. Would definitely book again.

  • "WOW! This property is amazing, highly recommend."

I booked The Laurels as a surprise for my sons 50th birthday, and a family reunion, some of my children hadn’t seen each other for 5 years. The Laurels had lots of surprises, from the super well equipped kitchen, beautiful dining room, snug, enclosed garden. There is a toy cupboard with toys and games to accommodate babies to adult board games. The teenagers loved the games room, dart board and pool table, we made a lot of beautiful memories here. The owner has thought of everything, down to milk in the fridge to tea bags. The bedding is of good quality, we all had a very comfortable nights sleep. Thank you SO much. The housekeeper gave us a tour of the property which was really helpful. A couple of things to mention but not in a negative way. The heating was put on as we arrived, it was really cold and having a young baby with us wasn’t ideal, but we managed. One if the kettles in the kitchen had water left in it, which is a pet hate of mine, especially when the guest has no idea how long it had been in there. Thank you once again

  • "What a wonderful place to celebrate two family birthdays."

The house is ideal for large family groups of all ages. Our group spanned three generations ages ranging from 69 - 2 years. There’s lots of rooms and space to suit everybody’s requirements- the younger grandchildren said it was the “best hide & seek” house ever, whilst the older grandchildren loved the pool and darts room. The enclosed garden was perfect for the 2 dogs aswell. There are great restaurants in the area but the house is very well equipped especially the kitchen when the son in laws were cooking dinner. You have beautiful walking countryside right on the doorstep so all in all this is a fabulous property for a family/friends reunion.

Everything we needed , and more, was there. The games room was well used by the boys. We all felt very comfortable there. Thanks to Pat for showing us round and sharing a bit of local knowledge and history. Very useful. Would love to go back in warmer weather to make use of the gorgeous garden .

  • "The Laurels is a brilliant house for a family get-together."

It's big enough for gatherings of up to about 10/12 people, and there are enough places to be able to find a quiet corner somewhere if you just want to read for a while. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and equipped with quality gear. Tim the owner and Pat the housekeeper were extremely helpful and attentive, without constantly watching us. Bishops Castle is a pretty little town in a good location for exploring the area and there are some lovely restaurants, I' particularly liked The Three Tuns public house.

The house is spacious with lots of interesting rooms. My 4 grandchildren really enjoyed the rooms at the top of the house with the PlayStation, dart board and pool table! It was a lovely family holiday get-together as we all live in different area - Bucks, Berks, Essex, London and S. Wales.

  • "The house was spotlessly clean and perfect for our needs."

The kitchen was very well equipped and the large fridge and freezer plus additional fridge were greatly welcomed. The games rooms were very popular and were great to retire to of an evening, although a game of pool proved to be very interesting due to the slope of the floor. The garden was beautiful, very secure for our dog and a fantastic place to enjoy a drink and meal of an evening. The house is perfectly located, within easy reach of the local amenities and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

  • "The comfort and facilities of ‘The Laurels ‘ made it an excellent beginning to a wonderful large family holiday."

There was ample space to accommodate all ages from grandparents to youngsters aged 3 . A lovely garden to relax in and upstairs room for the teenagers. The bedrooms were very comfortable and kitchen and eating rooms were very suitable for us all. A really beautiful house. Pat, the housekeeper met us and gave us lots of useful information and contact numbers in case of any problems ( there were none). The Laurels in Bishop’s Castle is in a very good part of Shropshire with lots of places to visit and very central for many walks on the Shropshire Hills. A lovely village, not too touristy. Trips we enjoyed were to Ludlow and Castle, Shrewsbury for a boat trip and a tour of the prison. The village Brewery tour and a local vineyard were very good. Further afield you can visit the Ironbridge Museums ( we needed two days for these) and even Cadbury World at Bournville. After these trips it was a delight to return to the peace and quiet of the village and The Laurels.

It is a stunning property full of character yet equally full of modern day comforts. There was so much room for the family to spread out and we were lucky that we had some lovely weather so could enjoy the beautiful garden. The location of the Laurels was perfect as we had easy access on foot to the lovely Castle Hotel for Sunday lunch, The Three Tuns, cafes, quirky shops, SPARC and supermarkets. Everyone in the family had a great week staying at the beautiful Laurels.

  • "This is a wonderful house for a large family celebration."

...in our case a Ruby Wedding. There are 6 extremely spacious and comfortable bedrooms...three with king size beds and an extra single, one twin and two doubles...one with a cot. There were enough bathrooms for no queues, and three different areas where we could eat. The recliner sofas in the lounge tempted us to relax with a book, while the garden room, leading out into the beautifully kept garden was the focal point for children and dog. We had five children with us...aged 8-1...and they loved this house...it even has a “secret” staircase, and they felt it was “Just like the Famous Five”. There were plenty of toys, indoor and out, and books. On the top floor , teenagers could have played pool, darts or on a PlayStation. ( the dads were found up here occasionally). It is, without doubt the best equipped holiday house we have ever rented. We stopped asking is there a......? and instead asked where is the....?Our 8 year old summed it up as “The best house ever”.

  • "We were a family group of 9 adults and 6 children wanting a large house for a family holiday."

The Laurels fitted the bill excellently. The main dining room provided just what we needed - a large dining table easily able to accommodate the adults plus a separate table for the children, which they liked very much. The separate morning room also had a smaller table which was very useful for breakfasts. We arrived at the Laurels at the agreed time on Friday afternoon and were met by Pat the keyholder/housekeeper who gave us a comprehensive guide to the property and was a mine of local information. The following morning unfortunately we had to report to Pat that the shower hose in one of the bathrooms was leaking badly. We had a ring at the door that afternoon, Pat was there with a replacement hose. That's what I call excellent service!! Monday morning another ring at the door - Delivery of new garden furniture, which we were able to make good us of later in the week as the weather improved.
