  • "We had a fantastic time, the cottage was perfect for our extended family get together, with plenty of room for everyone and in gorgeous setting."

Loads of space for the kids to romp about, whilst the grown ups could relax and enjoy the peace. The cottage itself is in wonderful condition and is supplied with everything you could want. The hosts were attentive and communicative without being in any way intrusive. Would definitely recommend and hope we can get there again some time!

  • "An absolutely fantastic house!"

We all had a terrific time. The rooms are all an excellent size (one was smaller but perfect for the children in our party), with the superking beds being incredibly comfortable! When we got there the house was incredibly clean and we even had freshly cut flowers from the garden, cake and local butter waiting for us. The house is in a perfect spot for exploring the local area: Knighton to walk along the Offa Dyke or pick up supplies from the surprisingly large coop, Presteigne, Ludlow and red kite feeding centre. The small animal petting zoo was great for kids too. The garden was fully secure for our 2 dogs, and large seating area outside meant we could have many meals together in the garden. The view is amazing, not another house in sight! We used the sun loungers to watch the meteor shower on clear nights, and could even see the Milky Way. We even had access to a fully enclosed orchard too. The cows and their calves came right up to the fence, we even saw twin calves! The hosts were fantastic, we received a call before we arrived asking our arrangements for the beds (they are all zip and link so can all be turned into singles), there is no travel cot or high chair (but there is a booster seat that can strap on to the dining room chairs), but we just brought our own so this wasn’t a problem. We had 4 vehicles and there was more than enough space for all of our cars too. Every member of our party absolutely loved the house, thank you!

The accommodation was spotless and as a family of 6 we found no faults at all! The layout, contents and equipment was all first class. The beds so incredibly comfortable! The setting is so peaceful and the sunsets just magical with a choice of at least 4 areas to view them from. The farmer was very friendly. We highly recommend this property and we found plenty to do as a family although we all loved it when we returned to The Old Farmhouse each day.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t very kind to us but having a lovely warm house to come back to was a bonus and enjoyed the log burner in the evenings, the views from the house were beautiful so relaxing and we’re lucky to see lambs being born and a baby calf only a few days old in the fields surrounding the house. Steve the farmer was great with the children and brought some newborns right to the house so we could see them up close and thank you Steve for our interesting chats! We all enjoyed the bara brith and the fresh flowers left for us. • "We had a great Christmas at the Old Farmhouse."

It's a lovely big house (very comfortable beds) and views from every window. Decorations had been put up for Christmas and the two woodburners really added to the festive feel. The garden was great for our two labradors - enclosed and safe to let them run around. There was a storm while we were there and Stephen, from the farm, came over the following day to check that all was well. It's a lovely area and everyone we met was friendly and welcoming (including the people who look after the house, the neighbours and in the shops in the town). The house is situated up a narrow lane, but it's a quiet lane and we only really came across the postman, so it wasn't a problem - and approaching from the road to the south was even quieter. We all said we'd love to return in warmer months to be able to enjoy the garden more.

There were some silly little things. I have notified the owners. These were simple things that did not affect the overall stay. If I had to score it would be a definite 10/10. Beds were so comfy and quality exceptional. I slept so well the whole week. Facilities were of the highest standard, and easy to use. Met one of the owners who is a farmer Steve next door, and his wife. Lovely couple and very helpful. View beautiful and having sheep and cows right next to us was being absolutely in the countryside at its very best. Would highly recommend it. Also the CO-OP a short drive away had literally everything you would need. Its like walking into a Tardis. Oh and one more thing. We chose the Old Farmhouse as the accommodation seemed to be the best option available at the time. The farmhouse is in a lovely setting with some beautiful views. The house itself worked for us, especially with a downstairs and shower room, however the shower room floor was dirty. The garden is a good size with different seating areas although one of these which would have been a lovely place to sit of an evening we didn't use as it was quite messy. Some of the garden furniture is rickety, and all in need of TLC. Having been brought up on farmland I appreciate we were on farmland, the flies were such that they were in every room but in the kitchen they were excessive and we used a couple of aerosols of flat spray, having said the some of them seemed immune. Also on opening Windows for but if air the frames were filthy. All in all it didn't stop us having a good holiday the granddaughters certainly enjoyed it, but just a bit more attention to the outside furniture and seating areas would have made perfect.

We were on holiday with my elderly parents who do love a walk and to sit in the evening and watch TV. Sadly, the internet was so weak that we couldn't access Netflix or any other internet based service. They do offer free sat, which is rubbish, hence we left the holiday earlier as my parents really wanted to be able to watch TV and relax.

Thank you for your kind words regarding The Old Farmhouse. Having been made aware that you couldn’t access the internet, we ordered a new hub which arrived the next day. We offered to set it up for you but you preferred to do it yourselves. We didn’t hear from you again and afterwards found that the new code hadn’t been put into the TV to access the internet connection. We are sorry you encountered this problem. The TV and BT business internet connection are now working perfectly, as they have done in the past. We want all our guests to enjoy their stay at the farmhouse and will always respond to queries, and work to resolve any problems, immediately. Property Owner

The south-facing sitting room is a lavish spot for family and friends to relax together, with another magnificent woodburner within a feature brick wall.

Lie on the Chesterfield sofa with a good book (there’s a selection for you) and a glass of wine, and enjoy the stunning panorama from the picture window – or on a sunny day roll back the doors and bask outside on the patio sun loungers.

For autumnal and winter breaks there is underfloor heating to ensure that this is a snug retreat at all times of the year.

Take a step down from the sitting room to get to the first bedroom in the property, with a top-of-the-range shower located opposite; it’s an ideal room for those with limited mobility.

Upstairs you will find four more comfortable bedrooms accompanied by two luxury bathrooms.

All five bedrooms have excellent quality beds which can be made for a super-king, twin or single bed; whichever suits your requirements.

Outdoors, children will enjoy the freedom of the lawn and adjacent apple orchard.

There are beautiful walks to do on and around the property.

Afterwards bring the whole family/group together around the barbeque/fire pit for sizzling burgers, roasted veggies and stews.

The property offers beautiful, rural landscapes and is just a five-minute drive to the charming market town of Knighton where you can find diverse shops including a supermarket, a butcher selling the best butter ever, and an organic farmer’s shop with seasonal produce and a range of handmade goods.

There is a habadasher (cushions, hankerchiefs, socks, pyjamas, fabric); the kind of store which used to be on every high street but is now a rarity.

Look out for events at the Community Centre which hosts the Knighton Food and Craft Market on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month; Also visit the Offa’s Dyke Centre, a venue for many walkers, with the famous section of Offa’s Dyke running between Wales and England.
