  • "We have loved our stay at Ystrad Wen!"

Everything from the luxurious cabin and hot tub to the wonderful views and hill walks has made for a peaceful and relaxing week away. Thank you so much to Rachel and Banty for all the extra touches and attention to detail, you have created something very special here! For days out, we recommend the Elan Valley for walks and scenery, as well as the amazing spectacle of the Red Kite feeding. We really hope to visit again in the future!

  • "An exceptional property in a spectacular location, with high specification and quality throughout."

Amazing views from property and hot tub alongside abundance of wildlife ensures that you spend many hours watching, listening and enjoying the tranquility of nature. Look out for the hares, red kites and numerous birds. Fascinating to watch the sheep's routines and can set your clock by them! The owners provide the best welcome pack we have ever seen and tasted! Chocolate brownies were delicious. They make sure your stay is enjoyable and we really appreciated their advice on walks, places to visit and the history of their farm. Made a 60th birthday holiday very special with lasting memories. Dogs really enjoyed the garden and ability to walk around the local area safely.

Thank you so much to both of you for your review; we really have been blown away by the reactions we’ve had from our guests. Looking forward to welcoming you back with your family later in the year. Property Owner

  • "We had a 4 night stay at Ystrad Wen in June and we absolutely loved it."

The cabin was spotless, and everything we needed was there. Our welcome hamper had some lovely treats (the homemade brownies fab!) and was one of may really nice touches, like the binoculars, the sketch pad and pencils and the fresh flowers. The Cabin is 1 of 2 set in a lovely meadow field which magnificent views, and even with the open views it felt very private. The hot tub was perfect too, fresh crystal clear water when we arrived, you can tell it is changed between guests, which is appreciated. The view from the tub is awesome too. It was great getting a text on the morning we were due to arrive to welcome us and let us know what time the cabin would be ready, and some tips on directions too, so we managed to get there early with no wrong turns. If you are considering Ystrad Wen, I would encourage you to book it! We are hoping to be able to return sometime soon.

Thank you Colin for your review! We are working hard to ensure our guests stay is as perfect as possible so reading reviews like yours makes it all worthwhile Property Owner

  • "Ystrad Wen Review We recently visited Ystrad Wen with my husband and our two dogs, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience."

The dogs loved it, and the beautiful scenery provided amazing views and the soothing sounds of nature. The bath and shower facilities were outstanding—so clean and well-maintained, also the hot tub was a great delight after long walks ,it was impressive. I accidentally left a personal item behind, and the kind staff promptly posted it back to me upon request, which I really appreciated. The area is stunning and secluded, making it a very romantic getaway. We fully enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat. We were even treated to a surprise bottle of wine for my husband’s birthday from the owners ☺️ We will definitely be back and would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a complete escape from the norm. Thanks for such a memorable time away xx

  • "Absolutely loved our first time in Wales and the main part was how beautiful the cottage was it was everything we wanted and the views were amazing the hot tub was an amazing touch."

The owners made sure we arrived safely and if we needed anything else which was really kind however the way the Cottage was set up nothing else was needed. If I could put more stars I would however they only ask out of 5*. Will definatly planning on coming back to this property!! Definitely suggest the Red kite feeding as was spectacular site to see.

  • "We had the most relaxing long weekend here."

The views are beautiful, we loved everything about the cabin. All the little touches made it even better, the owners had even thought of the dog! Our dog loved staying here and watching the sheep across the hillside. I'd recommend waking up early and watching the sunrise over the hillside in front of the cabin. 5 Stars! Hoping to book in another weekend soon!

  • "WOW, loved it, loved it, loved it!"

It exceeded our expectations! Stunning all round views, all you can hear is birds singing and little lambs bouncing about calling their mums , It really is very peaceful and quiet, we loved the accommodation, it was spotless and furnished to a high standard, it is huge for two people, the bed and the bedroom were the biggest we have ever stayed in, and the stand alone bath with the breath taking views was just stunning and so relaxing. The hot tub was just what we needed and big for just two people! And again the views, wow! We really appreciated the treats in the welcome basket. It was so perfect for our romantic getaway, we are so definitely going back! ❤️ Many thanks to the owners Banty, Rachel and family x

The property

Ystrad Wen is new to Sykes for summer 2024 and is a beautifully presented holiday cabin perched in the heart of the stunning Welsh countryside, outside of the quaint village of Newbridge-On-Wye in Powys.

Surrounded by standout views of the countryside and positioned away from the noisy roads and towns, Ystrad Wen is the one to pick for a memorable retreat.

When you arrive, you will feel instantly at home, with the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area which is full of everything you could need from a well-equipped kitchen, sophisticated dining seating and a sitting area with a Smart TV so you can keep up on all your shows while you are away.

Decide between dining indoors or choosing to dine al fresco under the stars, a perfect choice for a romantic meal for two.

After spending the evening soaking in the warmth of the hot tub and gazing at the stars, make your way back inside and freshen up with either a hot shower or steaming bath in the freestanding bath in the bedroom, then put on your comfiest pyjamas and cuddle up on the sofa to watch your favourite movie on the Smart TV.

Ystrad Wen lies in the heart of some of the most unspoilt scenery in Wales, you are surrounded by traditional hay meadows and areas of woodland, parkland and wet pasture leading down to the banks of the River Wye.

The Cambrian Mountains are the undiscovered heart of Wales, an area of outstanding natural beauty which offers wild empty spaces, from woodland walks to the more challenging routes that take you into the vast moorlands, one of the least visited spots in Wales you can feel that you have the place to yourself.

For star gazers you must visit the Elan Valley Estate, an International Dark Sky Park, made up of 6 Dark Sky Discovery Sites and the perfect place to see the night skies at their best.

Ystrad Wen is the perfect place to escape to.
