We had a lovely stay at Y Penty.

It was comfortable and had what we needed. Very close to the town but felt like it was in the countryside. Gorgeous views from the front and back. There were benches out of the front and back. We enjoyed using both of these while appreciating the views.

It was a lovely week at the Penty , ive enjoyed every bit , if I may say only the mattress wasn't the best for me but only because im used to memory but that is only my thing nothing wrong with that mattress hence the 5 stars I give .

I loved it and my family too , we may come back sometime soon

An amazing stay, everything you need and more.

Unbeknownst to us our stay coincided with the music/beer festival. Absolutely fantastic. The cottage is superbly situated, and so comfortable and spotless clean. One tiny niggle would be the big knife is very flimsy, and tricky to use, although we departed with all fingers in tact. 100% would return

This was our second stay at Penty.

The house is a real home from home. The lounge and kitchen are upstairs to take advantage of the light and amazing views towards Cadair Idris at the front and fields with sheep and cows at the back. Dolgellau is a lovely friendly unspoiled town and is a perfect spot to discover this quieter area of Eryri National Park.

It is a shame that more self catering properties are not of the same standard as Penty, everywhere was immaculate.

Kitchen is extremely well equipped with a good cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The owner is on hand should you need anything. Penty is far enough out of Dolgella to be lovely and peaceful but near enough for the shops and cafes, pubs etch. Loads of walking/cycling nearby and the views from the property are absolutely sublime! Would not hesitate to return or recommend.

The property is very clean, with amazing views and very close to the town centre, so a perfect base for the week.

It has all the cooking equipment you need if you fancy a night in. The only thing I think that needs addressing is the slowness of the Amazon Stick when streaming anything on the TV.

Penty is a lovely place to stay and good value for money.

We loved the views to Cadair Idris changed with the weather and we were lucky enough to see new lambs in the field at the back. The upside down layout really made the most of the views. The cottage had everything we needed including a hairdryer that wasn’t on the listing. Downstairs the walls are so thick we couldn’t hear the storm that rolled through. The only slight downside was that the beds were much firmer than we are used to so it would’ve been good to have mattress toppers available.

The most comfortable and well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in.

Check in was easy, and the owners are close by. Amazing views of Dogellau and the mountains to the front, and views of fields and sheep to the rear. Dogellau is a lovely little town, with all the amenities just down the hill. We did some amazing walks from the cottage. We will definitely think about staying again.

Warm , comfortable and so many small details to make a perfect holiday and the views were the icing on the cake !

We loved our stay in penty ,the views out the lounge window is just breath taking, my wife sat out in the front bench enjoying the afternoon sun and the views , our dogs have had a great time on some of the near by walk's.

We have recommended it to friends and family and will be back again.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

... a short walk down into Dolgellau and beautiful views of the mountains at the front, and a field of cows at the back due to the upside down accommodation. Easy to park, especially if you back into the drive each time you return, very well equipped kitchen and living areas, comfy beds and a nice shower. Access to a lovely little garden if the weather is nice and a friendly owner next door if you have any problems. A great place to stay.

The view is absolutely unbelievable and the location is perfect for exploring the area- close to beaches, mountains, forests, bike trails... The town is really nearby too and has some cute shops and cafes. The kitchen is really nice and modern and everything was super clean. Dawn was helpful when needed too.

Penty cottage is perfect, love the way the living area and kitchen upstairs as the views are amazing.

So clean and tidy, got absolutely everything you need, location is ideal it's situated what ever you need. Local spar nearby and its very big. Can't fault anything on this cottage. Definitely would go back. Plus we had perfect sunshine (4th-11th)April 2024.

We had a very nice week in Penty.

4 adults and there was plenty of space for us all. The facilities were good and we had no problems. Lovely views of the mountains and the town only a few minutes walk away.

We had stayed back 2016 and found a lovely cottage enjoying a week's holiday, so returning this September (2024) and finding the cottage freshly done up.

The owner was available if we required anything checking we had settled in. There was all modern amenities. Would like to have instructions on managing rubbish and recycling as Wales has a different procedure. I would love to be able to complete a visitor book to share our experience to future visitors. Really enjoyed our stay thank you

Penty has amazing views over the hills.

It is clean, and has everything left for you to make your stay simple. We had a very enjoyable week. Would love to stay again sometime in the further.

Lovely location.

Plenty of space and facilities for 4 adults and 2 dogs. Good parking for 2 cars. Nice little outdoor space and wonderful views

Very comfy beds. Friendly owner Mrs Jones :-) good parking and close to the town center but on a quiet road. The Spar shop close by is really good!

We had a great time in the cottage.

Excellent base and the fact it was dog-friendly is a bonus! It was very well thought out, especially for a dog. The facilities were ample if you wanted to have a night in cooking, however, we chose the pub most nights as it's such a short walk (5 mins) into Dolgellau, and the hill isn't that bad getting back up it :)

Another good week at Penty.

The cottage had everything we needed. Dawn was at hand for any questions and information. The cottage is onlt a 10 minute walk from the town for shopping and to have a coffee or meal. T H Roberts is a must for coffee and cake or something more. I'm sure we will be back soon as the cottage is a good base to visit family.

Really excellent accommodation in an ideal place.

The holiday let was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Great views of Dolgellau and the Cadair Idris mountains with sheep and cows in the field at the back, stayed here about 3 years ago and since then the kitchen has been refurbished to a lovely standard. Owner is next door but leaves you alone. I guess the only negative was being used to a much larger smart TV at home the TV was small and had limited freeview channels; an internet connection to the TV would help, not that we go on holiday to watch TV but the weather was cold for June. Ideal base for some lovely beach resorts and Eryri National Park. We found Bedgellert lovely, Betwys-coed very touristy with rip-off prices. Done 3 of the walks in the guest book, Torrent walk is free , close by and excellent. Saw dolphins at Tywyn which is a lovely place with a great beach. Would highly recommend.

A great place to stay at this upside down house , which has views across the fields to the rear and across the valley at the front.

The house was clean and tidy and the kitchen well stocked. An added bonus is that the owner is on site should any problems occur. It is probably worth mentioning that the house is half way up a very steep hill so anybody with limited mobility would struggle coming back up. We would definitely consider a return visit in the future.

Perfect holiday accommodation.

Very comfortable and clean. Lovely views from windows - fields at the rear and mountain views from the front. Comfortable bed and good shower. 10 minute walk into Dolgellau down hill. Quite steep on the way back. We hired electric bikes from Dolgellau Cycles - very nice man in the shop. We cycled the Mawddach Trail - very flat and easy ride to Barmouth. Very clean beaches at Fairfield, Towyn, Aberdyfi (good fish and chip shop on the front) and Barmouth. Lovely ride on Talyllyn Railway to Dolgoch waterfalls. We booked Sunday lunch at The Torrent Walk Hotel which was delicious and the small plate option is very good value with a lovely rhubarb crumble to follow! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Penty and highly recommend this property.

Brilliant cottage with the most amazing views of Cadair Idris on one side and sheep with their lambs in the other, especially from the top floor lounge/dining area.

The cottage is well equipped, very clean and with on site parking and good access to the town for pubs, buses and shops. This was our second stay here in this cottage and we shall definitely come again.

We had a lovely stay for a week in Penty.

The house was perfect for our needs, warm, clean, comfortable, and with everything we needed. The view over the town from the front windows was fabulous, and the smart TV with firestick kept us occupied in the autumn evenings. The house has been recently renovated with thermostat controlled central heating and modern fire - it was always cosy. The owner lives next door but does not overlook the property. And a recommendation if you're visiting... T H Roberts tea room in town does fabulous homemade cakes....

A lovely upside-down Welsch cottage close to Dolgellau.

Spotlessly clean and with an extremely well-equipped kitchen. Great views over the valley. Very toasty with the new Gas central heating. Comfy beds.

Care should be taken when parking as it is off a steep narrow road. It is best to reverse in but do it in 2 maneuvers

This holiday cottage was very clean, peaceful and very comfortable!

It gave us easy access to lots of days out! The cottage had everything and more that you would need for a very nice stay in North wales! We will most definitely be back again!

Fantastic cottage with priceless views.

A great location for exploring all of Snowdonia national park whilst also benefiting from the the amazing beach at Barmouth, we would highly recommend.

PENTY cottage was as good as the reviews I had read before our visit.

It was warm and comfortable regardless of the damp weather most of the week. The property is spacious and very well equipped with everything we needed. It would have been very pleasant to sit outside if the weather had been better as the views from the front were wonderful and from the back fields with cows and sheep. The only downside was that we were hoping to eat out most evenings as it was a short walk into the town but maybe because it was not high season but there was very little choice.

Had a fabulous stay, lovely property, great location, just a few minutes from the centre and shops, easy access to lots of wonderful walks.

Property is spacious and light, had everything we needed and was clean, fresh and quiet. Great value for money, have already booked to return. We did have to supervise the dogs in the garden as it is not fully enclosed, but we were aware of that before booking.

Excellent holiday cottage on the outskirts of Dolgellau.

On a quiet road with pleasant farmland view behind, and panoramic mountain view from the elevated lounge/kitchen area. Would certainly return if visiting the area in the future

Great views from the window. A ten minute walk to the dolgellau but the walk back take a bit longer with the hill if u got bad legs and old dogs.

We had a great week at Penty.

The cottage was lovely, warm and well maintained and is in an ideal spot for exploring the area. A cheese grater, pasta bowls and a set of pasta bowls would be a useful addition. Dolgellau is a really nice town. I would highly recommend a stay in this cottage.

There is a great view from the holiday cottage towards Cadair Idris.

In the field at the back we watched lambs being born in the field. The cottage was warm and comfortable on a very wet week in March.

A good location pretty close to town, great view of Cadir Idris Well kept property, comfortable, all mod cons cant really ask for more I recommend reverse parking in two moves to the parking place Please do not use Trip Advisor they support the Russian economy in not closing down their Russian operations

Cottage was a really great place to stay views amazing and had absolutely everything you needed would book to stay there again when visiting this area

This lovely cottage is a real find.

It’s in a quiet location with spectacular views of the mountains all around. There are so many beaches and mountain activities all within east driving distance of the cottage. Our children loved waking up to see the cows in the field right by the back garden every morning. The cottage was extremely clean, and the kitchen was immaculate. We will definitely be returning again soon!

What a lovely surprise when arriving at the cottage to find the kitchen and dining area had been refurbished after the photos had been taken for Sykes website (although they have now been updated).

The cottage had everything we needed and the views from the upstairs windows were amazing. The cottage is only a 10 minute walk from the shops, cafes and pubs which meant there was everything close by for our week away. Would recommend this cottage and will stay again in the future.

The answer is yes to both. It exceeded expectations, it has everything you need, is reasonably priced and is in an excellent location. I bought my 82 year old mother here for a break and she loved it. Dolgellau is a lovely town with a stunning backdrop with the Cadair Idris mountains. Beautiful beaches at Abermaw (Barmouth) and Aberdyfi on the doorstep. And of course Snowdonia. The owner is there at the B&B next door but completely unobtrusive and respected our privacy but there if you need anything. Wifi was excellent too. All in all highly recommended, a little gem.

Really impressed with the standard of the cottage.

Lots of space, very clean, excellent location for discovering the area. The photos of the view from the upstairs do not do justice to having breakfast and a morning coffee watching the most evaporate in the warm sun.

The best cottage we have ever stayed at as a family.

5 ***** standard. The views of the mountains from the upstairs living area are outstanding. The cows and sheep with their young, which was the back garden view, was just beautiful. The cottage itself has everything you need and more. I took everything with me as have stayed at many properties that didn't have eg a tea towel / washing up liquid etc but I brought it all home again as Dawn who manages the property has made sure absolutely everything is catered for. We had a welcome gift when we arrived too which was delicious! I would highly recommend this property and hope to return. Well done Y Penty.

A clean and well provisioned house.

Stunning views and the upside-down layout works very well for this house giving a nice airy feel to the main living space. Thank you for a great stay. The only minor quibble is it would be nice to have WiFi capability, but I still coped OK just using mobile data for looking up weather, maps, etc.

While the cottage itself was comfortable,it was not dog friendly,the garden was very small and not suitable for pets to be let out,access was poor,and there were no gates to keep them enclosed.

The cottage is in a fabulous position, easy to walk into the village and fabulous views

Cottage makes a great base and has everything you could possibly need.

It lacks WiFi, but you can use the dining room at the BnB next door if you're desperate. The owners clearly listen to feedback, as there are now garden chairs to use (as mentioned in an earlier review). I don't really have any practical suggestions for improvement - would certainly stay here again.

This cottage was very comfortable to stay in and the view is wonderful.

Very clean inside amazing views.

Downside was garden area accessible by very steep steps with rickety hand rail nit suitable for children elderly or disabled and difficult if you had undisciplined dogs as no security to area and it is only accessible by walking out of front door and walking round the back and up the steps not great in the dark. However my dog is well behaved and we were out all day views from cottage amazing and so for us it was a great holiday.

The property is in a lovely place and position with amazing views.

A lovely spacious cottage, and a perfect setting for exploring the wonderful countryside around the area, and for evenings in Dolgellau (highly recommend the Torrent Walk Inn and the Sospan restaurant).

We were met by the owner who was very friendly told us how we could contact her if there were any concerns.

The cottage was extremely welcoming with lovely views over towards the mountains. Highly recommended as a base for local attractions
