  • "Despite Storms Dudly, Eunice & Franklin we all managed to arrive safely."

First impressions are always important and we could not fault the appearance, cleanliness and layout of Old Rectory Cottage. Pretty well everything is provided and previous renters had left behind useful bits and pieces. The quality of the bed linen, towels and tea towels is of a high standard. We were a party of 8 adults and 6 children and found the accomodation spacious. The Cottage has kitchen and lounges upstairs and bedrooms downstairs. Hence you can hear the young ones running about having got upo earlier than the rest of us. The swimming pool and hot tub were a blessing bearing in mind our first two and a half days we were under the cosh opf the storms so unable to leave the cottage. Needless to say having exclusive use makes life a lot easier when you have youngsters desperate to burn off some energy. There's everything you need in Newtown in respect of shops and major supermarkets. We had a Tesco delivery but others deliver as well. Well done to Stuart Jones and his team for making our stay memorable. If you book you will not be disappointed but get in quick it's very popular.

We all knew that we had made the right choice for all 13 of us we rented the whole cottage with 6 bedrooms two lounges, two kitchens, two of the bedrooms are en-suite and it also has two family bathrooms. The seperate indoor heated swimming pool was amazing and all the family used it every day and at various times, my 5 grandchildren ranging from 2 to 12 loved every minute in there and didn't want to leave it. There are lots of things that you can do from it's location eg Powys castle is a must and we went in October so we went pumpkin picking which was 6 miles away, it was a hidden gem and I would recommend anyone to book it and enjoy it as much as we did. the cottage is perfect for a large family gathering. Kitchens well equipped, furniture good quality, beds very comfortable and the whole cottage exceptionally clean. The pool and hot tubs turn a great cottage into a fabulous one. The pool is huge and facilities good. It is indoor which is perfect if it rains but if it is hot there are double doors so you feel outdoor. The hot tub is new, clean and a great way to wind down after a busy day and look at the stars. Good location, quiet and yet easy to get access to supermarkets and about 40mins to seaside. Without doubt the key selling point is the owner Stuart. Thoughtful and wanted to ensure all was good and we were happy. He was a wonderful host and the attention to detail on the cottage is credit to him and his much loved and missed mother. We will be going back.

  • "We spent a week here at Christmas for our family with included 4 children, 3 of them toddlers."

The house was of high specification and we did have to put some of the household decorations away from toddler reach, which Stuart the owner had no problem with. We received a key for the pool and could use it anytime of day or night which we did. The pool was amazing and really warm. The pool room also had showers, toilet and changing area so we could spend plenty of time in there. The hot tub was a great added feature too. The house was decorated lovely at Christmas with a tree and additional decorations. We received a Tesco home delivery of groceries when we arrived, which was perfect. The house had pretty much everything we needed for a great family get together. We paid quite a high price for the whole property over the Christmas period but it did not disappoint. Stuart was a lovely gentleman who we saw everyday check the pool and hot tub area. Highly recommended and we are extremely fussy.

Stuart the guy that owns it very helpful always at the end of the phone the views were spectacular we enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back again next year.if you get the chance to go there take it I can will imagine in the summer it would be even better if you get the weather I truly chilled and recharged my batteries

Very friendly people! We don't get to have many hoildays so it's so important everything is prefect when we do and especially with having two babies as well and I can honestly say we had a wonderful experience. The only feedback I would suggest is to change the steps that lead into the pool for those that are mobility restricted, would be better to have steps that lead into the pool gradually rather then the metal step that go straight down. Thank you Sykes cottages and Mr Jones for a wonderful time!

Well decorated and the upside down nature of the property means that you can enjoy the views at all times. There were eight of us and so it felt very spacious. Having two kitchens and living rooms meant that there was plenty of room for everyone - and with a TV in both living rooms and in every bedroom there was no arguing over what to watch in the evenings and a good WiFi signal also kept our teenagers happy. The pool is lovely and clean - and warm too! It was a great treat having it all to ourselves - having an indoor pool means you can enjoy it regardless of the weather. The hot tub is a generous size and is cleaned regularly, we made use of it every day. The large gardens are very well kept and a pleasure to walk around. The property is within easy reach of Newtown, which is very handy for popping to Tesco or Morrison's for groceries and the tiny cinema there is also a treat. We had a wonderful time and fully intend to return. Many thanks to Stuart and his team for a lovely family holiday with many happy memories!

When we arrived, the cottage was lovely and warm and tastefully decorated to welcome us all. The cottage definitely has a Wow factor. Everything, both inside and out has been finished on a very high standard. No expense has been spared. A lot of thought has gone into it. It felt very homely and comfortable. Having the lounge, and kitchen diner on the first floor was a brilliant move, as it gave you access to the stunning views. There is everything you could possibly want inside the kitchen. Lots of crockery, cutlery, glasses, and dishes and pans of all sizes. There were six adults and three youngsters aged 15, 12 and 8 yrs of age, The pool was well used, as was the hot tub.. Always warm and inviting. The water in both the pool and the hot tub were checked daily, even Christmas day by the friendly owner, Stuart Jones. Sitting in the Hot Tub and admiring the beautiful views was just wonderful. Made even more special by celebrating Christmas with a glass of champagne, in the hot tub! We went into Newtown to the cinema and watched the new Mary Poppins film, and took a trip to the Elan valley dams on Boxing Day. Newtown has two good supermarkets, Tesco and Morrisons, and the local shops are varied, just about everything you should need. . I would recommend anyone to go and enjoy this cottage and its hospitality as much as we all did.
