  • "We could not fault the Farmhouse."

The owner, Vaughan, welcomed us as we entered the grounds and showed us around the beautiful property. The Farmhouse is finished to a very high standard and most comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. A secure four acre field to the rear of the property is a wonderful bonus. You do not have to go looking for somewhere to walk your dog, often a problem in rural areas. Secure off road parking and a gated entrance with lots of lights wired up within the grounds make the property welcoming and secure when arriving back from our days adventures. We recommend this property and have booked it for next year.

Thank you for the great review Joe. We’re glad Michelle and you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to welcoming you back to Rockhill Farm next year! Property Owner

The standard of the property is excellent with everything you could possibly need and of exceptional quality. The area provides interest for all ages. We had fun visiting the quaint Postcard cafe in Clun, had an excellent meal in the Crown in Clunton, loved our walk by the Discovery Centre and had an interesting visit to Wroxeter and Attingham Park together with quality time in the property. Looking forward to our next visit.

Thank you for the great review Alan. We were thrilled to welcome you back for your second stay with us at Rockhill Farmhouse and also to welcome your extended family from the USA and their stay in the Wain House. It is surrounded by and has access to the most amazing countryside . It is spotlessly clean and the amenities are of a very high quality. The owners are really friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them. We believe this really contributes to how relaxed you feel when staying in a property. There is no hot tub ,thank goodness but that wood burner was amazingly cosy and atmospheric. Just what you need. Thanks for a super birthday stay and we will definitely recommending your property.

  • "The Rockhill Farmhouse is beautifully furnished to the highest standard with everything you could possibly want."

It is a real home from home. Vaughan and Eileen gave us a great welcome. The Farmhouse is set idyllic countryside with wonderful views and provides a great base whether you are looking for rest and relaxation or want a more energetic break. There are walks of all degrees of length and difficulty and many cycle tracks. Vaughan happily provided lots of information. There are plenty of historic sites to visit, towns, castles, stately homes and gardens. Clun itself is a sweet village with its own ruined castle. For ‘Foodies’ there is plenty of local produce and many different ‘eateries’. We love Ludlow Farm Shop and the covered Market Hall in Shrewsbury for food shopping and could happily compile a huge list of the places we visited. It is a property we will return to regularly as there will always be something new to explore.

The accommodation was outstanding. The best accommodation we have ever stayed in. The location was fantastic, walks from the doorstep including one of the best sections of Offas Dyke. The views from the Farmhouse are stunning, you can see Long Mynd, Stiperstones and Wenlock to name a few. Clun offers a shop, pub and towns including Ludlow, Bishops Castle, Church Stretton and Knighton are a short drive away on quiet well kept roads. There is also another lovely cottage onsite so a larger group can stay at Rockhill. The Farmhouse can easily accommodate 4 people with a very well stocked kitchen. The wifi was superfast. The beds were very comfortable, great showers. The lounge with a log fire, smart TV, it is a home from home. There are 4 acres for dogs with dog bags provided. Lovely places to sit out and enjoy the farmland and nightsky. No light pollution or noise it is so peaceful. We could not rate it high enough. Thank you to Eileen, Vaughan and Monty the dog. We will be regulars here, what a great holiday.

About the location

CLUN

Bishop's Castle 6 miles; Ludlow 18 miles.

A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.
