Description

78 Findhorn is a beautifully presented coastal cottage set right in the heart of Findhorn, Moray, offering a characterful and inviting base for families or friends keen to experience this special stretch of the Scottish coast.

Thoughtfully arranged over two floors, the cottage blends traditional charm with modern touches, creating a space that feels both practical and full of personality.

On the ground floor, two generously sized king-size bedrooms provide peaceful places to settle in after busy days out, one benefiting from its own en-suite shower room, while a separate shower room serves the rest of the floor.

The open-plan living area sits at the centre of the home, bringing everyone together in a sociable setting.

Here, the well-equipped kitchen makes preparing anything from leisurely breakfasts to evening meals a pleasure, while the dining area and sitting space invite long conversations, shared stories, and quiet moments spent planning the next day’s adventures.

Upstairs, a welcoming double bedroom adds flexibility to the sleeping arrangements, making the cottage ideal for mixed groups.

Outside, a private patio offers a lovely spot to start the day with a coffee or enjoy meals outdoors when the weather allows, soaking up the fresh coastal air.

Findhorn itself is a joy to explore, with its wide sandy beach, colourful beach huts, friendly pubs, and independent shops all close at hand.

Stroll along the bay, watch the boats come and go, or try your hand at water sports on the Moray Firth.

The village is also home to the Findhorn Foundation and Heritage Centre, offering fascinating insight into the area’s unique history and community spirit.

Venture a little further to Forres to discover Brodie Castle and its gardens, spend time in Grant Park, or explore the Falconer Museum.

Elgin adds even more to the experience, with its striking cathedral ruins, the Moray Motor Museum, and pleasant green spaces for wandering.

Whether you’re drawn by coastal walks, rich history, or the simple pleasure of seaside living, 78 Findhorn offers a memorable stay in one of Moray’s most distinctive villages.

Cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and in the heart of the village near the bake house, and only a few hundred yards from 2 of villages 3 pubs.

Parking immediately outside was a huge bonus. On the downside, several lights and table lamps were not working/faulty, and the buckets and recycling bins were full and overflowing. Would definitely return though.

This was a lovely spacious cottage in a delightful village with the sea, or Moray Firth, and the Cairngorms not far away.

The cottage is furnished to a high standard (no IKEA here) and the kitchen well equipped. We didn't cook, but there seemed almost too much kitchen gear - several chopping boards, large cooking knives, etc. The local pubs served decent if unspectacular food. A real bonus was having the local deli/coffee shop and village store only 50 yards away. The only problem was the directions. 81 Solway Cottage didn't really help. Findhorn (the road) seems to be the main road into the village and then, doubling back on itself, the way out. It is a one way street. The directions would be better to suggest following the road into the village and when it turns to the right and doubles back you can see an old fashioned red phone box (not in use) just before the Bakehouse coffee shop. The cottage is 20 years before the phone box a few yards down a grass path immediately before you get to 81 Solway Cottage. Highly recommended.
