• "I have to agree with everything your previous reviewer "Steve" has said."

  We arrived in light rain and it was a nightmare trying to unlock the very awkward key safe, having to kneel on a wet and muddy floor and having to carry things back and forth along a very muddy and slippery path to unload the car. By the end of a warm and sunny week, the bins lining the path were rather smelly and not pleasant to walk by. I would also add that I felt so vulnerable using the bathroom with a clear glass window and no blind in full view of numerous passers by and the people visiting the cemetery just a few feet away that we resorted to covering the window with tin foil! I would also add that there were no bedside tables in the main bedroom and consequently no bed side lamps and so I had to use a phone for light as I had to walk sideways along the very narrow gap between the end of the bed and radiator if a trip to the bathroom was required during the night. The first single bed in the second bedroom stuck out beyond the opened door and I lost count of how many times I walked in to the end of it leaving me with bruised and battered knees. The garden was awful - a patio of sorts with table and chairs but the rest just untidy gravel, empty pots, a couple of straggly plants and an air of being uncared for. We didn't feel like using it at all. We came back one day to find the garden gate wide open and obviously broken. The kitchen was well stocked although most people who rent self catering cook and an empty shelf or two for groceries would have been appreciated. We thought the 14 mugs and more (we stopped counting) was a little excessive for a cottage that sleeps four maximum! The cottage was clean, the living room could do with some fresh soft furnishings but in general l felt, rather unloved.

  Accessing the property was ridiculous, you have to get on your knees to enter the key safe as it’s so low to the ground. The property was clean inside. The wardrobe space was laughable, with just two narrow slits in the wall in the main bedroom, how on earth a family of four would manage? The main upstairs bathroom window had no means of privacy (no blind or obscure glass) leaving you exposed to the many walkers that used the path through the graveyard next to the cottage. It would have been nice to have a mirror in one of the bedrooms for getting ready etc. Lack of preparation space on kitchen surface and it might have been convenient if more than two dishwasher tabs had been left for us. Overall very dissatisfied with the property and will definitely not be returning or recommending to anyone.

• "Excellent stay, super location to explore the wider area of North Norfolk."

  ...all you need in a ten-minute walk into Burnham Market...beach 10 min drive, Holt, Holkham and Wells by the sea, 15 mins away by car....happy to recommend, we had a super 4-day stay, and would book again.

• "What a lovely place!"

  The walk up the track behind and left down to the Hero pub was a well trodden path for us, the cottage itself is lovely and clean with great sunset views from the front. The village is only a ten minute walk away and the general stores the first thing you reach. The vacuum cleaner was out of charge when we came to clean up so we did our best with broom etc- hope ok! Would deffo visit here again

• "The cottage was pleasant."

  But we arrived to find no hot water, no soap, no dish-washer tablets, no drying up cloths, no dish cloth, almost no toilet paper and no pods for the coffee machine. This meant we couldn't wash up any pots and dishes so we couldn't use the kitchen facilities, incurring high costs for meals out. We contacted the manager, owner and Sykes but their promises to get the missing items delivered came to nothing. So, too, did the promise to arrange compensation. Disappointing.

  Good afternoon Mr Pearce. We are very sorry you did not enjoy your experience at our cottage. I believe the hot water was sorted once you rang us. As this is a very old property, sometimes manual intervention is required to get things going. I personally ordered all outstanding items and they were delivered to the cottage the next day, left in the black storage shed in the garden by Amazon. I did message you on this portal to let you know. Once again, our apologies. Property Owner

• "This info is purely intended to be constructive, we had an enjoyable break and had no real issues."

  The key box was not straightforward, I had to look up the manufacturers info before I could open it, maybe include in your info. There was no green bin outside to put the rubbish in, the black bin was full when we arrived and we didn’t know when or where to put it out. Hot water is very hot, hot enough to scald. The oven isn’t fixed into the housing and moves. A shelf above the kitchen sink may be helpful, maybe also above the kitchen radiator. The radiator in the tv room seemed to be permanently on and we couldn’t turn it down/off. All other radiators barely seemed to do anything. The bathroom sink leaks a little, the owner is aware as there is a little bowl to collect the water. Maybe a blind for the bathroom window. There was nowhere in the kitchen for the toaster, we moved it to the dining room. If the sideboard was moved to the end wall it could sit on there with a suitable tray.
