  • "This cottage is very special."

It has everything you could possibly need or want. So much care has gone into creating a high level of comfort with plenty of style, and added extra touches that make it feel very homely. We and our two Beagles loved our week at May Bell Cottage. Thank you Anne and Richard. We would certainly make a return visit.

  • "This was the best cottage we have ever stayed in."

The owners have obviously put a lot of time and effort into creating a lovely holiday home. It lacked nothing and the welcome basket was fantastic. The location for exploring Norfolk was perfect and there were plenty of dog walks from the door so not having a garden wasn’t an issue. There is a small seating area at the front where you could enjoy the late afternoon sunshine and they had provided tethers for the dog so it being open was not a concern. Loved it.

The house was absolutely spotless with everything you need. Location is brilliant for exploring the Norfolk coast. There isn’t a garden which I’m not sure is completely clear on the details but for a long weekend it was perfect!

  • "When we first entered the cottage we said how lovely it looked, parking is in a gravelled shared car park just outside the cottage."

On the first evening when a member of our family was waiting at the car for us to go out they was told by the neighbour not to let our dogs do any business in the courtyard, which they never did, but how do you tell a dog that they have to hold it till we get onto the roadside. The single bed mattresses wasn’t very good, you could feel springs so not a good sleep, I feel that the main bedroom could’ve been better as well, nothing matched, the bedding was awful, new duvets and pillows are a must, we couldn’t open the windows either to let fresh air in. When looking around the cottage we also noticed so many cobwebs. A little more attention to detail is needed for me to rate this cottage any higher

Thank you for staying at may bell.we are sorry the property did not meet with your standards. The property is over 400 years old and is a listed building, the windows are all fully working sash windows with sash fasteners, that you unscrew to then slide down the top sash. The bedding sets all match and the set in the main bedroom is new and of high quality, we are sorry these were not to your taste. The single mattresses are the same as the king size in the main bedroom, but i will check to see if any springs are prominent. I clean the property myself and will take the comment about the cobwebs constructively as on occasions the odd thing can be missed, but as you can see by previous reviews usually we rate very highly for cleanness . The comment from the neighbours is beyond our control, we wouldn’t ask that of any dog, as responsible dog owners ourselves, we understand dog's can do their business at the most inopportune moments, but as long we pick up after our pets there is no issue, maybe they have had an experience in the court yard where owners are not so considerate, with it being a shared courtyard, the residents take pride in keeping their surroundings clean and tidy. We hope your stay in the area overall was enjoyable & thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Property Owner

  • "This holiday cottage is first-class in every respect and we have no hesitation in recommending it."

Cleanliness, facilities, equipment and utensils were all excellent and a lot of thought had clearly gone into making the guests' stay as enjoyable and trouble-free as possible. The standard of the renovation that had been carried out at the property was superb - well beyond that you might expect - and all aspects of our stay were catered for. Finally, the welcome pack was a lovely surprise. It didn't have to be provided, but the fact that it was and that it included so many items, was further evidence of the care that the owners of the property have taken to ensure that their guest's holidays should be as comfortable and memorable as they could make them.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. We are glad you had a lovely stay & found the property to have what you needed. We understand holidays are special & try our upmost to make everything as perfect as we can. We are pleased you like the hamper, all from norfolk trying to support local businesses. • "The cottage was absolutely fantastic."

Really nicely appointed and plenty of room. We took a small Christmas tree with us so that we could have one for our daughter but did not need to as the owners had decorated the house and put up a tree which was a lovely touch. There was a lovely welcome box which included some nice things and in particular, some treats for our dog which we thought was a really great touch. There are plenty of instructions where needed and also recommendations etc. In terms of the location of the cottage, it is brilliant if you are looking to be close to the coast and to Sandringham. We would struggle to find anything at all that was wrong with the cottage and will definitely be booking it again.

Two observations- the shower was difficult to turn off (or rather it turned itself back on) and the 2nd bedroom wasn’t made up. We had hired the whole cottage, or so I thought. But without a doubt, we would recommend & definitely stay again.
